I-tunes downloaded music bad quality

Every time I download music from i-tunes and then upload it to my i-pod mini - the sound quality is horrible compared to the cds I loaded to i-tunes. Any suggestions or insights?

Does it sound OK in iTunes on your PC/laptop? Or just bad on the iPod?

  • Free download for bad quality?

I recieved an email today from Apple, telling me that one of the albums I purchased had apparently been complained about the poor sound quality and as such I was being allowed to redownload the whole album. (Presumably of a different quality, otherwise what's the point?) But anyways I recieved 13 song credits (Which kind of made me wonder a bit as the email said I'd be getting one free song credit, I assumed in addition to the album and the album had 13 songs on it, but whatever.) and preceded to download the songs. My concern now is that the 13 credits won't go away. I've tried opening and closing iTunes several times and logging out and logging in and it never changes. I just want to be sure that they actually used the credits they provided me with to purchase the album rather then my credit card because I can't really afford to repurchase a whole album I've already bought right now. Has anyone else run into this problem before? Also note that when I login and check my purchases the newly downloaded versions don't show up in my purchase history.

  • Bad quality MP3 downloaded

I have downloaded 5 mp3's from OviStore.  One of them is of very bad quality.  Bass distorts even on low volumes.  Do I have any recourse?

    @Mystic -
I'm posting same info here as on another forum where I saw your post - hoping to get some info/awareness from others...
I'm having same 'upgrading to iTunes 8.0 has made my iTunes library sound like poorly compressed 40 kbps net-radio crap' (approximately). Thought at first my speakers were blown but experienced same on headphones; tested that it's not my Mac's sound-card by playing an .MP3 in-browser which sounded normal.
Any music through iTunes since 8.0 upgrade sounds awful: trebles are virtually absent, low end frequencies are muddy; mid-range is relatively untouched; all my tunes sound like they were ripped at 40 kbps and "compression-sound" is overwhelming. It's occurring w/ the gamut of sound files in my iTunes library: .MP3's (constant and variable bit rates from 128 - 320 kbps), AAC's ripped from CD's (160 - 300'ish kbps) and purchased AAC's from iTunes store. Multiple combinations of disabling and re-enabling Sound Enhancer and Sound Check in iTunes as well as disabling / re-enabling the EQ (Window > Equalizer) have not resolved.
Everything coming through my iPod Touch sounds perfect as usual as well as music played outside iTunes i.e. games and music through Safari or FireFox.
I updated both iTunes and Quicktime within past week through Software Update, so not sure yet if it's caused by one or the other. For street cred., I'm a long-time musician and work in i.t. system ops. / Mac freak, so while certainly not infallible I'm going to edge past this being user error on my part. A thousand blessings on anyone w/ some thoughts, tips...cheers.

  • Why Bad Quality Music CD Import to Itunes

I have many CD imported and it works fine. Then I imported 2 different CDs and the quality is very noisy , just like a old scratchy Vinyl.
Same quality when played off the computer or on my Ipod 30G
Any idea why these two different CD suddenly behave this way. I have tried several times but same bad quality

I have the same problem ... after have been connected first time with lastfm (I don´t think that that´s the point) I discovered a scratchy noise mixed into some few tunes, being imported from brilliant, highend and original cds. hm. listing to the same tunes out of the desktop-window (user>music>itunes>artist ...) the noise is gone or very minimal. Changing import-settings (Yes, I have read: "What's the best format to encode music in?" ) and listening with headphones made no difference. Has anybody an idea? would be glad

  • I have I tunes downloaded on my computer. Both my wife and I have I-Phones which where bought separtely.  Can I sync her phone and my phone so that our contacts and music aren't shared?

Both my wife and I have I-Phone 4S. I have I-Tunes downloaded to my lap top and we both have separate I-Tunes accounts.  How can I Sync my wife's phone without having all my contacts, and my music end up on her phone?

Each iDevice synced with iTunes on the same computer has its own sync preferences with iTunes.
If each iPhone is synced with the same supported address book app on the computer, contacts will be the same on each iPhone.
You can create a seperate computer login account for your wife where she can access her iTunes content only with iTunes under her computer login account and the same with her contacts, etc.

    - iTunes purchases by maybe
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

BTW, this is the iPod touch forum.

  • Zen Vision M 30gb, used to be able to download music from I tunes, can't now, need he

I had another computer with I tunes loaded, also used Zen vision M on it along with I Pod, new computer has both products downloaded on it, but for some reason it wont recognize the Zen or let me download music from the i tunes library like i used to. also this computer uses windows vista. Can anyone help

So, you need an older version of the iOS app, because the current version no longer works on your iPod touch.
If you do regular backups of your hard drive (as you should), such as by using Apple's built-in Time Machine (if you use a Mac), you may find the older version of the app in the backup archive, and restore it (replacing the newer version).  They are stored in the iTunes Media folder, in the Mobile Applications sub-folder.  You should then be able to sync the older version to your iPod touch.
I can't think of any other way to get it back...
NOTE:  An 2nd gen iPod touch can run up to iOS 4.2.1.  If your iPod touch is running something earlier, and that is why the app no longer works, you can also consider updating the iPod's iOS.
I use an even older iPhone (original).  I avoid this potential problem by aways updating its apps on the iPhone, not in iTunes on the computer.  When I do it on the iPhone, it will not download a newer version of an app that won't run on my old iPhone.

  • I have used I tunes to download music with a paid I tunes card. I can no longer open the music store to download my music.  When I do open the music store it fades in and out, preventing me from downloading music.

I can nolonge download music from I tunes, because the music store page fades in and out and will not remain permanent to allow me to download music with a pre-paid I tunes card.
Also, why is it you can only download music to an I-pod from one primary computer.  Is there a method that will allow me to download music from a variety of computers.

it only happens for previous purchases - if you have a computer you can try to download your purchase history there and then just sync them to your device - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386.

  • I was downloading music to my iTunes account and playing music from my I tunes library when all of the sudden it stopped playing and the control panel won't let me restart the music.....why

I was downloading music cd from my PC to my I tunes library and playing music on the I tunes player at the same time when all of the sudden my music stop playing and I can't get the I tunes player to restart playing music from my library again. The I tunes equalizer / player box with timer shows the song ready to play but the controls won't restart the song.......why not, and how to I get it to restart playing my library?

    - You need to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and start anew.  Is the restore button visable in iTunes?  If it is they restore the iPod.
    - If it is not visible try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - If the restore button is still not visable, try placing the iPod in recovry mode.  See:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

I downloaded OS 6.13 system on my I phone and it transfered all my I tune purchased music onto my computer as well as all downloaded étransfered music and my playlists were deleted . The help section on I tunes  is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine

Follow this instruction exactly to the last line.  It worked on mine.

check if you have read & write permissions for your iTunes music (or media) folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. if permissions settings check out, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
     now try consolidating again.

  • Quality of downloaded music

I was recently discussing with a HiFi buff the virtues of downloading music (say from iTunes) against buying a factory burnt CD of the same music. He informed me that the quality of the factory burnt CD is much better than the downloaded equivalent - something to do with zeros and ones?!
Is this the case and, if so, how marked is the difference?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

"But - and that's the question - although it's possible to determine differences using high-tech equipment, most people won't hear a difference. "
In my experience as somewhat of a HIFI 'buff' I would say that you don't need high-tech equipment to hear the difference. Your Ipod with slightly better than stock headphones will clearly show you the difference between say 128 AAC and a raw AIFF file ripped from a CD. Most people don't notice what they are missing but a side by side compairison will show compressed audio is missing something. AAC is plenty good enough for ipod listening but on my home stereo it doesn't quite stack up to a CD.
