I Tunes for idiots?

When I got my much desired ipod for my birthday last October I was so pleased. It's a dream to use, easy to upload new songs ect and looks great.
But since the last update (which I wasn't even that bothered about it just kept popping up)I have completely lost use of my ipod. I have searched through all the relevant posts on here about reinstalling ect but when I took ownership of my Ipod I didn't think I would need a degree in IT skills to get it working if there was a fault. It's all very well listing details about deleting hidden files and changing registry keys but why on earth should I have to do all that? I like to think that I know my way around a P.C but I'm not a genuis!
Why are apple doing nothing about the fact that thousands of people are unable to use their products because of a fault with their software.
I do not have Norton, I just mistakenly trusted that an update would be a simple process and clicked yes. I am so fed up with apple.

Hey, I know I was ranting, sorry I just haven't been able to use my Ipod for two months and am a bit miffed. There are some complete genius's here too I agree, I am just not a genius and find the complex instuctions on work arounds really hard to follow (as well as they have been explained)
I have tried to use the original cd that came with my ipod but It won't work either, boo!
I'll keep an eye on the boards though for a miracle!

i would like to be able to insure that when i import a CD into i-Tunes that all tracks from that CD go into a single file for that album in their proper order regardless of whether or not there is a featured artist on one or two tracks or whatever. i recentl;y imported an All Time Low CD into i-Tunes for my daughter and because one song featured a guest artist i-Tunes placed that song in a seperate folder and so when i synced my daughters i-Pod Touch that one track is not with the rest of the tracks form the album and has to be listened to seperately. The song is from the same album and should be where it belongs with the rest of that album so she can listen to the entire album with the tracks in the proper order. I am sure that this can be done i just don't know how.

Edit the Name of the problem song to Name [Feat. Guest]
Change the Artist of that song to All Time Low

What you want cannot be done. iTunes has its quirks, and the above is the kind of workaround needed to make the media display sensibly on any device. The article I pointed you to has others that you may find useful in future.

Uncheck all the songs in the playlist. iTunes will then play one song and stop.

I cannot get itunes to work/install on myPC. I am running windows 8 in a 64 bit machine. I also want to purchase books via itunes for my Nook. Are you deliberately excluding PC owners so we cannot use ituens on our computers???? I have selected a community but have no idea what community I should be working with. Can somone explai these communities to me? Also. you don't allow much time to go thru the sign up process. I had to start over SEVERAL times as you kept timing me out. Jesus...when people are signing up for the first time, we have no idea of the questions that will be asked. Give us a break and give us time to sign up. Not everone is disability free and able to go thru your process quickly...you are NOT user friendly. You should be for people who are wanting to join your community. Connect your phone to iTunes, then right-click on the name of your phone on the left sidebar and select Reset Warnings. Then sync again and you should get a warning listing the problem files.

Best tv tuner for MacBook

I was looking into getting a tv tuner for my macbook. I have read alot of reviews about a couple products. I have seen both good and bad. Has anyone had success with a certain one? What one do you think is the best?

I use Elgato's Hybrid. Works great, allows you to record, edit and export to various formats. You can also capture the video from VHS/DVDs and burn to DVD with built-in Toast. A little bit bigger then a thumbdrive with a USB plug.

How about not using the I-Tunes for Windows MP3 encoder, and encoding with Lame ? Is this possible ? From where can I get the plug-in ? does it really work ? Pros and Cons ?

Thanks Joe for your help. I will check back. I would like to rip with I-Tunes for Windows and encode with the Lame plug-in ( it seems it is available only for Mac). I know EAC is excellent in Secure Mode, but it comes with Freedb (no composer tag info) and not CDDB/Gracenote that comes with I-Tunes and shows composer tag. The composer tag is of extreme importance to me when ripping my Jazz cds.

There is no version of iTunes that supports the 64-bit version of Windows XP and never will be. If you search this forum for "XP 64"or do a web search for something like "iTunes Windows XP 64", you'll find threads describing the process some people have used to "crowbar" iTunes onto XP 64, with varying levels of success, none of them complete.

but i didn't get any solution for installing i-tunes in my laptop which had Windows XP Professional x64 bit.

iTunes is a 32 bit program.
The 64 bit installer has 64 bit drivers for burning and the iPhone.
If you don't have an iPhone you should be able to install the 32 bit iTunes and then download the 64 bit Gear drivers for burning from the Gear download site:

You can install it on your iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) either by redownloading it directly on the device via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on it, or by connecting the device to your computer's iTunes and syncing it to it.

It's almost certainly a simple business decision based on market share. Linux current tracks at around 1% market share, and that's probably far too low for Apple to make the investment in software development and support resources. Supporting Linux would require porting not only iTunes but also QuickTime, Bonjour and the other components that allow iTunes to work fully and synchronize with an iPhone, and then Apple would have to decide which distributions of Linux and which GUI Apple would support which would reduce the potential market even further.
Sorry, but my guess is that unless and until Linux makes much further increases in market share, Apple will probably not find the business case for a Linux version of iTunes to be sufficiently compelling. For the foreseeable future, if you want to use an iPhone (or an iPod or iPad), you will need a computer running Windows or Mac OS X.
