I-tunes has stopped recognizing i-pod

For some reason i-tunes has stopped recognizing my i-pod as my name and it is now listed as just "sys" and it shows up blank through i-tunes showing how much space is used and how much I have left. It doesn't synchronize or anything. It was working fine, I haven't done any changes or anything. Nor do I want to update yet to the newest version of i-tunes yet since my i-pod isn't even recognized. Does anyone know what could have happened?
Thanks!

ahhhh. if there's a network at work, another thing to check on with this is to do a file and folder search through the network drives on "ipod_control".
you may have to switch on "show hidden files and folders" to see it (it's a hidden folder on ipods that contains the music files, file management software, ipod preferences, and so on.) in "My Computer" go "Tools > folder view", click the View tab. you'll find the setting in the advanced options.
if you find one of those folders on a network drive, it's a sure sign that someone at some time has had a drive letter confusion with an ipod on the network.

    Hi guys, Please help
Just upgraded computer to Windows 7.  Installed latest version of ITunes. It installed and uploaded all my items in my library.
Connected IPad2 and updated latest version.  However whenever it trys to sync my contents either to my IPad, my wifes IPad or my new Iphone4S, it simply comes up with error message.  I TUNES has stopped working.  Windows is checking for a solution to the problem... Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is found.  Urggh,  can anyone help

This is similar to my dilemma I just posted:
itunes has stopped working error msg after software updates?                                                                                        50 minutes ago
I have removed Bonjour as well.
I've had this happen other times when I've updated iTunes software on other systems too, to the extent that now I'm reluctant to ever Accept when it suggests I do so.  But I went ahead this time and sure enough I think I'll have to do a total reinstall.
LOL, I don't think Windows has EVER found a solution to ANY system problem I've had which makes it mildly amusing when it acts like it's helping!

    Hey there Rodney274,
It sounds like you are getting an error from iTunes when you launch it. I would try the troubleshooting in this article named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
Start with troubleshooting for 3rd party plug ins section, then the rest of the article if needed:
    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
    Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • My MacBook Pro's internal SuperDrive has stopped recognizing CDs/DVDs after Yosemite install

After upgrading to Yosemite, my MacBook Pro's (early 2011) internal SuperDrive has stopped recognizing CDs/DVDs after Yosemite install. It takes them in and will eject them with the keyboard button, but they will not mount. Disk Utility shows the SuperDrive and shows the inserted media, but will not mount the disk. That button is grayed out. Please help! I still have training libraries and music I access on such media. Thx!

UPDATE: I discovered some forum posts about a similar issue with Mavericks that recommended re-installing the system to fix the problem. I realized that I rarely restart my computer unless there's an update that requires it, and decided before undertaking a full re-install of Yosemite to simply restart my computer again. THIS WORKED! The SuperDrive is now mounting CDs and DVDs. Not sure what the issue was, but if anyone else has this issue I hope this will save you hours of frustration.

  • Hi, I have purchased I-Tunes match which gets to stage 3 but then I get a message pop up advising me that I-Tunes has stopped working and then I-Tunes just closes down! Has anyone else experience this or know a solution?

Hi, I have purchased I-Tunes match but since doing so, I get to stage three of the transfer of library to I-Cloud which is downloading artwork, extra information etc and as soon as stage 1 and 2 turn into green ticks, a message pops up to advise that I-Tunes has stopped working and closes I-Tunes down! I have managed to get the bulk of my library across to I-Cloud so I can listen to music through my apple TV - However now every time I bring up I-Tunes, the I-Tunes Match recognises that there is still some artwork/songs that need to be transferred and again once gets to this same stage of the transfer process, I-Tunes closes down. Has anyone else experienced this or have any advice on as solution? I have a Sony  NS-Series laptop with Windows Vista. Following the closure of I-Tunes, I then get another pop up message advising me that perhaps my current I-Tunes is not the most up to date version and recommends that I download the current version - however my I-Tunes version is currently up to date.

Frustration understood.  May well be worthwhile simply:
    1.  Sign-out of iTunes Store
    2.  Shutdown computer
    3.  Start computer
    4.  Download and install latest version of iTunes
    5.  Launch iTunes, sign-in to iTunes Store, start iTunes Match & allow process to work to completion
By switching on iCloud Status, iCloud Download and Kind fields you can watch progress for any issues.

  • Our HP 1150us g7 has stopped recognizing our dual USB 2.0 Port. It is not listed to uninstall and

Our HP 1150us g7 has stopped recognizing our dual USB 2.0 Port. It is not listed to uninstall or update its' drivers. Only the one USB port works on the right side facing the notebook.
It is only 21 days out of warranty and I am told they can be replaced however it takes a huge amount of labor, then someone else told us it can not be exchanged only the entire Motherboard. I have found the exact part on sale so I believe it is replaceable.
Here is a link to order the part we believe can be replaced.
    http://www.machinaelectronics.com/store/buypart.cfm?pn=NL028516
Does anyone know if it is replaceable or not?
We are sick about this we only had the notebook one year and for the warranty to run out only 21 days before this died we are disappointed with HP for not providing some assistance.
    This question was solved.

The link you provided is not the same model as yours. While it may work, I haven't verified it.
Have you performed any hardware troubleshooting on the unit yet?

NO installation of new programs prior to this going on.
My same fire wall program, anti-,malware has been on this computer since I purchased it 7 months ago.
    No software changes in system.
I do not use the Comodo firewall system either.
    Thank you

Have you tried installing a trial Blu-ray player. Don't use one from Cyberlink as it's too close to Media Smart DVD.
     Use Arc Soft
      http://www.arcsoft.com/estore/software_title.asp?ProductCode=TMT5P&gclid=COXEpJ6CqqcCFQEKbAodpQdSCw
----Will give that a whirl when I return home.
Have you tried the obvious and picked a Windows restore point to where it was working ?  -------Windows 7, in that particular machine isn't letting me dial back for an earlier restore point..... it isn't even letting me see dates....Believe me I would have been happy to dial back a week or two.  Not sure why, Havent been able to dig in that direction....was trying to be careful about not digging a deeper hole before moving all important work files and stuff to a different machine before toying with windows deeper.
Maybe the drive itself has failed, do you you have another HP laptop that you can try it in ?-----have several HPs...might try that soon.
Check "Autoplay" in the control panel.----have done the autoplay fixes that have been proposed in other chains of similar problems....no avail.
I will keep throwing ideas at you no matter how simplistic they may seem. I find that it starts people thinking in another direction.     --------Believe me, I appreciate it, just as long as it doesn't devolve into .....Is the machine plugged in?
Have you tried burning a DVD with it ?   Not yet, that is a good idea.
Try installing Image Burn and  see if the drive will create ISO files with a Blu-ray disk. You will get a warning that Image Burn can't do this, but continue and let it dead the whole disc. Let me know if that works and I will give you the software to play the movie from the ISO files.
     http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
Use mirror 8 provided by Image Burn.
What version of Media Smart DVD are you running ?  Was using the most recent release......then uninstalled it and went back a few versions... to one that was linked to in another similar thread.
    Thanks.

  • HT1551 Apple TV has stopped recognizing my account and password?

Apple TV has stopped recognizing my password

The only way is to restore through iTunes. Make sure you're following the steps exactly (disconnect all cables, connect micro USB, if using a 3rd gen ATV reconnect power). Make sure to connect directly to computer, not a keyboard port or USB hub. Try a different cable. Check firewall and security software installed on the system.

  • I tunes has stopped working

Having purchased an I pod almost a year ago I have had a problem free time with both my i pod and i tunes. However, a couple of wheels ago i tunes stopped working. This may have been because I purchased the Sony Ericsson w800i mobile phone and installed the accompanying software onto my computer. Since then an error message appears whenever I try to open i tunes.
"Quick time failed to initialize. Error#-2093"
When trying to open quick time the error message appears
"Quick time failed to initialize. Error#63443"
Obviously I have uninstalled the phone software, and tryed to reinstall i tunes from the website. However niether has solved the problem. In fact I even called up the helpline, and was sent a bunch of outdated problem solving instructions via e mail.
I am truly at a loss as to know how to fix the problem, and so was wondering if anyone had the time and expertise to help me?
    Thanks
    Charlie

That is the error; "iTunes has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem." Then, the message changes to:
"A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
The dialog then closes and the Problem Reports and Solutions dialog appears and says:
"The problem was caused by iTunes.
A newer version of iTunes is available for download that will address this problem. Apple Inc. recommends updating to the latest version of iTunes to take advantage of security and stability improvements.
Go to the Apple Inc. website and install the latest version of iTunes:
    Apple Inc."
I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes, uninstalled the old version, installed new, and the same exact problem just repeats itself.

My USB drive stopped recognizing my ipod. I know it is not the speed of the usb drive because I have had that problem before and fixed it. I recently had a problem with Norton and had to have my laptop fixed. The Norton program was completely removed but my ipod has not been recognized since the incident.

See if any of these articles help.

  • Bootcamp has stopped recognizing that it has a modem. Drivers are up to date, no malware, modem works fine in OSx.

I use OSx for work-related purposes, but my family uses bootcamp. This has worked well for us for about 2 years.
About three weeks ago, bootcamp suddenly started struggling with the wireless internet connection...lots of little drops usually (but not always) followed by quick reacquisitions. This problem did not (and does not) occur in OSx or for any other device in our house.
I looked into the drivers, and they were all up to date. I then initiated a scortched earth campaign of antivirus and malware detection, thinking maybe something snuck in via my son's Steam account or whatever....but this actually brought up nothing at all. Still, the problem continued.
And then, early yesterday, bootcamp stopped recognizing that it even has a wireless modem (in the middle of a session; the computer booted up with internet, then the modem "vanished" after 30-40 minutes). It now only recognizes ethernet cables as a viable internet source.
OSx, again, continues to work fine.

Can you check Control Panel -> Hardware -> Network Adapters and post a screen shot? If it it works correctly in OSX, the hardware is fine. It must be a driver update? Is Windows setup for Automatic Updates.
One option is to find the appropriate BC drivers using System requirements to install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp - Apple Support and then Boot Camp: Install or repair Boot Camp drivers to go back to the original Apple drivers.
