I tunes is closed surprisingly( crashing)
I tunes is closed unexpected very often
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

Hi i have just tried to update i tunes and it has crashed and uninstalled i tunes off my laptop. I have tried to install i tunes again but it wont and comes up with error messages
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Premiere Elements 8 keeps closing or crashing
Hello,
I was really looking forward to the new Premiere Elements 8, downloaded the trial and....it keeps closing with no error when I am editing very simple videos. The other thing it does is it will crash sometimes and come up with the Adobe Send Error dialog box. I have checked other posts and looked at some things like making sure I have the latest Quicktime and I did download the latest Nvidia driver as well. Thought that it fixed it but nope, had another unexplained crash/closing last night. I am running Windows 7 RC but dont know if that is the problem.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Oh, and my system is a quadcore and 8 gb of ram, so it should have enough power.
DougThese are their forums and should have moderators monitoring these threads. They are the ones that should bring it up to their development team or someone that can look into it, or get someone from Adobe to come read this thread and give their input on it.
Here we agree, though not on the exact details. The MOD's on these fora are volunteers. They are mostly power users, who have businesses and lives far beyond the Adobe fora. They give freely of their time, both answering questions and helping to keep the fora running perfectly. None is an employee and none gets any compensation, other than added responsibility and a Moderator's Console to correct things on the fora.
Other than that point, we are in sync. Especially with a new release of PrE, I feel that there should be an Adobe presence here. Someone from development should be assigned to furnish info on working with the new program, sort out problems and offer suggestions on how to run it to the max. The PrPro forum is very fortunate in that an Adobe employee has showed up and is now a major contributor. I do not know if the forum is part of his "assignment," or if he has just decided to spend time on the forum, contributing. To date, he has furnished tons of great info on upcoming updates and even on CS5, which is still under development. I hope he gets some extra compensation for his efforts and also full support from Adobe.
The Photoshop has Chris Cox, one of the original developers of the program. I do not know if Chris is there out of love for the program, or as part of his work at Adobe. It's really moot, as his contributions are wonderful, whether he does it out of altruism, or because it's part of his job - the result is the same - a benefit for all forum subscribers.
One of the big pluses to having someone from the development team would be that we do not spend countless hours of trying to troubleshoot problems, when some simple tweak, fix or change would take care of it. As we are but lowly users, we have to rely on what we have experienced, read, or encountered elsewhere. None of us really knows what is "under the hood." Even Steve G., our MOD, is on the development team. Now, he probably does get his hands on the beta of every version, as soon as possible, but other than maybe some tips from Adobe, he doesn't have access to the code. His knowledge is built on his experience and a sharp mind to figure out how the thing works. Same for AT Romero. While he gets his copies, as do the rest, he has torn into PrE 8 with a critical and analytical eye and published his observations, built on years of experience with PrE and with NLE work in general. Both are invaluable assets, but with a simple Adobe presence, both could be greatly aided. Going back up to Chris Cox and the PS forum: I've been a power-user of PS from the instant that it hit the PC about 20 years ago. I've done most of what PS can do at one time or another. Still, there are times that I speculate on something in that program, only to have Chris come forward and correct me, explaining exactly what the code does and how it does it. I never fail to learn something new about a program that I have used extensively for about two decades - a little Adobe inside info goes a very long way.
I would also strongly urge Adobe to assign a rep. to this forum, especially now. I would hope that this person is on the development team and not from marketing or elsewhere. I would also hope that this person has actually used the new version in real-world situations, as there are often major differences between the lab and the Projects that people actually produce.
I realize that there is a major price-point difference between PrE and PS, PrPro, AfterEffects, etc., but the install-base, or potential install-base is much greater for PrE. For Adobe, the unit profit is potentially smaller, but the volume is much, much greater.
I support your contention that Adobe needs to be here. If they show up, I would strongly urge the forum to be respectful of their time, as they are probably doing this out of the goodness of their heart - though Adobe COULD add a little something to their paycheck. If someone does show up, I'd hope that the subscribers would ask only technical questions and keep any personal feelings about Adobe products to themselves. There should also be respect for the material that this representative could not share for various reasons.
Going back some years, we were blessed by the presence of an Adobe employee, Wil Renczes, in the PrPro forum. Some people spent a great deal of time yelling at Wil for things that Adobe had done, or not done. Hours of typing went into telling him how much better Avid, or FCP were, compared to Adobe. They demanded to know what the next version would hold. One day, Wil didn't come around anymore. The forum had lost a most valuable asset. My guess was that it just ceased to be fun for Wil anymore and he chucked the whole idea. I hope that the same does not happen with our Adobe representative, Dennis, this time around.
Just some observations,

i have windows 7 and after the upgrade to itunes 11 misic, videos, tv programmes keep crashing after 15 minutes???
help would be very much appreciatedThe problems are caused by third party input managers/enhancers that have not yet been updated by their developers to comply with the standards used by Safari 4.1.and/or Safari 5.
In your case these are:
0x1158d0000 - 0x1158d2fff +com.MTWB.SafariAddon.osax ??? (1.0) <07F89448-3C9B-4893-46B5-D46138999B9F> /Users/petecathiivr/Library/ScriptingAdditions/MTWB.osax/Contents/MacOS/MTWB 0x1158d6000 - 0x1158dbfff +com.MakeWebBetter.FastBrowserSearch ??? (1.0) <2F66120A-A252-0AC5-DD33-C59C78CAC902> /Users/petecathiivr/Library/MTWB/Plugins/FastBrowserSearchPlugin.bundle/Content s/MacOS/FastBrowserSearchPlugin
You fill find them in one or either of these folders:
Home/Library/Input Managers
Hard Disk/library/Input Managers
Hard Disk/Library/Application Support
although the exact location is indicated in your crash report as quoted above - look under 'Binary Images'.
Close Safari and delete them, then restart Safari and it should be working normally. Alternatively drag them to the desktop and restart Safari. then add them back one at a time, restarting Safari every time, until you find the one (or more) causing the crash.
Check with the developers of the plug-ins in question for updates that are Safari 5 compliant. -
InDesign closing window/crashing
Hi,
I'm having an issue where i have InDesign open and working on a doc, i re-link images from the links panel and as i'm scrolling through my file structure the window closes without explanation. It doesn't crash InDesign so no crash report. It just goes back to document. I can eventually re-link the files but it's very frustrating.
The files are mixed between local and windows server, but the problem is new and i've been using the setup for a longtime. It seems to have come from the last two CC 2014 updates.
I've restarted my machine and repaired permissions using disk utility.
Thanks in advance.Hello tequilashotsinaz,

Why is it that after using I-Tunes then closing it I can't shut down my MacBook Pro
If I open I-Tunes then close it the next time I go to shut down my MacBook Pro it just sits there with a gray screen and a spinging wheel all night It does'nt do that with any other app's
Weird. If this were happening to me, I would check/reset the Energy Saver preferences having to do with startup scheduling and or automatic restart. I would also consider deleting associated preference files in /Library/Preferences. I would also try resetting the System Management Controller and/or resetting NVRAM and PRAM.

[Closed] KDE Crash Handler appearing when programs close properly
I've been having this problem with KDE 4.8 and 4.9. The KDE Crash Handler is popping up every so often when I close a program, telling me that the program crashed when it didn't. It occurs every time I close KLook (a quick viewer for Dolphin). It also occurs every time I log out or poweroff from KDE, reporting that Plasma Desktop Shell and then KWin have crashed. The dialogs prevent the system from doing anything until I dismiss them, then the system logs off/shuts down normally.
If anyone else is having this problem as well, speak up and we can submit a bug report. I have not yet because I am not sure if this is just an issue with my system or if there is a way to simply prevent the Crash Handler from opening (and I would also have to install debugging packages!)
Last edited by bicyclingrevolution (2012-09-02 06:34:07)I did some searching on the Bugtracker (after finding the actual name of the Crash Handler is drkonqi) and discovered that this problem (apps crashing when logging off) goes back to KDE 3 and has never been solved from what I could see. This bug report has been ongoing since 2005! The original poster has a simple solution though: remove the binary! I'll probably do that, since I really don't find it to be any use.
This report says you can turn it off with KDE_DEBUG 1 (maybe it was supposed to be 0?) but I don't know where I would set that. KDM config files maybe.
EDIT:
I renamed /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/drkonqi and am now blissfully free of the crash dialog. KLook works perfectly. Logging out is still slow: nothing happens, then blanks, then pops back up with Plasma and the last desktop, then blanks and continues. It's not smooth, but now I don't have to fiddle with it just to log off.
I hope the devs will fix this for KDE 5.

MSIPVS+MSI-Vox USB2 TV Tuner = No Closed Caption(CC) support
I bought the MSI Vox. Everythign installs fine.. TV is fine - But when you try to turn on closed caption on NTSC signals - Nothing! No Closed captioning. I kept a TV next to the computer (Your std. 13" NTSC) and CC is fine on the channel. I wonder if there is any workaround. I need CC to work. Anyone have any ideas - please post reply. Thx in advance AP
Try using some other progs and see if you can get any CC as it migth not be a hard problem .. Just MSIPVS being it`s usual self.

Cloud app keeps closing or crashing?
have a gs4 and upgraded to the 25 gb limit. used it for 1 day and ever since have not been able to use it. emailed support and havent heard a thing from them in 2 weeks! anyone else having this problem? is there a solution??? please share!
It's imperative that we work towards a healthy solution for you, **5283. Let's take a further look into this. How long have you been having the issue? Are the cloud services turned on? If so, head into applications > manage applications > all and then clear cache and retest.

Firefox won't load homepage when launched and crashes when closed.
Last night, while I was in Firefox, a notification popped up that updater.exe had been downloaded. I could easily take a guess: a new version of Firefox was out. I closed Firefox and then had the updater do its thing.
When Firefox then launched & came up with a blank screen (like what you would see with New Tab), I was a little confused. I checked Tools > Options and the general tab was still set to show the homepage when Firefox starts up (Xfinity). I also went through all the other tabs and found that nothing had been changed. It was 18.0, as shown in "About Firefox" so I was scratching my head as to what was going on. Humoring myself, I clicked the "home" Icon, and sure enough it toop me to my homepage. Figuring I'd take a shot at it later, I closed Firefox (The red X in the upper right).
Then things took a stranger turn. Upon closing, the Mozilla Crash Report screen popped up. I figured this was a one-time thing, so I didn't send a report. I launched Firefox again, and again I got a blank screen. Upon closing, the Crash Report screen popped up again. To ensure this was just something with Firefox, I launched Internet Explorer. It showed the homepage upon launch, and didn't crash when closed.
Now, upon getting the troubleshoot information, I discovered another twist: When I go to close one of the tabs, Forefox crashes.
This has me scratching my head. Before I updated, everything was perfectly fine. Now I run into this. Any thoughts?Alright, I just tried to reset (help > Troubleshooting > click 'Reset Firefox'. It said it would try to hold onto bookmarks, passwords, etc). When it closes, we hit the Crash Report screen again. Launching Firefox reveals nothing has changed (Theme being the same is the give-away). I'd say that hasn't worked as of yet.
I typed about:crashes and copy/pasted everything in the "details" tab. If the "Raw Dump" tab would be more effective, just say so and I'll add that

Why does plugin-container.exe so often crash when closing PDF files?
When I load multiple PDFs in Firefox to check their content for errors one by one, closing one PDF tab to reveal another PDF tab very often causes plugin-container.exe to crash, which means I have to reload each remaining PDF tab to view the remaining files. This of course defeats the purpose of opening more than one at a time, and actually adds about 5 times as many clicks to the whole process because I have to clear the error and reload each page, then it might happen again or might not. It doesn't happen every time I close a PDF, but about 1 in 4 times.
I realize I have two versions of Acrobat installed (Acrobat 9.5.5 and Reader 11.0.10), and thus two Firefox plugins, but for the record this same thing happens on other computers that just have Reader or just have Acrobat, so it's not an issue of conflicting plugins. Though I did notice you aren't allowed to disable just one or the other -- deactivating one deactivates both. At first it seems not to, but if you reload the plugins page, you'll see both are actually off.
Windows coughs up the following error report when plugin-container.exe crashes, but Firefox says nothing, I guess because the plugin-container is a standalone app:

Appreciate any help available in resolving this crash.Somehow this bug came up on my radar yesterday later in the day: the first two comments indicate different plugins, and the third refers to the Acrobat plugin:
<blockquote>This seems to happen if Adobe Reader is used for displaying PDF documents (pdfjs.disabled set to true and Preferences > Applications > PDF to "Adobe Reader (in Firefox)").<br><br>Opening two tabs displaying PDFs and closing one crashes the other one.<br><br>Was able to reproduce with Firefox 36.0.1 and Adobe Reader plugin "Adobe Acrobat 11.0.10.32". When I tried to reproduce it later again in the same profile (or on Nightly and Beta), the tab didn't crash.</blockquote>

Sounds like your issue, but it's puzzling that they got a tab to crash and in your case only plugin-container.exe crashed. -
Photoshop CS3 crashes when opening an image
When I open an image by double clicking on it when Photoshop CS3 is either open or closed, it crashes. If Photoshop is open and I attempt to open an image by going to "file" then "open" is still crashes. If I go to "file" then "new" a new doc will open. If I switch users on the same machine, images will open. I did an A&I and had the same issues. I also removed Photoshop and did a complete reinstall and am having the same problem. I verified and repaired the disk permissions. I also removed my printers and made my default Adobe PDF 8.0. I've installed a trial version of CS5 and images open fine. Nothing had changed since the last time I used it. Here's the crash log:

Automatically write changes to XMP crashes Lightroom!
Everytime I turn on the option "automatically write changes to XMP" my processor load rises to 100%. So far so understandable. LR is trying to update all of my 40000 images with xmp data. We've already discussed that there is no progress-bar indicating this and that this can be a real issue for people who don't know.
So I turn on the checkbox in the evening and let my pc write all xmps over night, but unfortunately every morning I look at it, lightroom has closed or crashed. It seems not to be possible to complete this task anyway.
Unfortunately writing to XMP seems to have another issue: LR does not notice, witch xmp have already been written, so it writes everything again and again, when I start it manually.
Could anyone of the LR-Team issue a statement and explain how this is meant to work and why LR constantly crashes on automatical export?
Thank you in advance.I feel that though LR is a very good product in many aspects, they have seriously failed in other aspects. I think what is mentioned here is one of the worse problems. How should we trust Adobe to take care of our image library when they behaves like this? They must surely know that their product will be used by proffesionals that have thousands if files in their library.
I think it is very arrogant of them to update all my photos with XMP-information even though I didn't ask for it. I check the "automatically write CHANGES to XMP", actually believing that this is what LR is going to do, but instead it updates all my photos with some useless information that are of course already in the files. This is NOT a good thing to do. I will not trust Adobe after this, because I have no way of knowing what they will do to my library.
So, now, after installing LR, my partial backup suddenly discovered 50GB of pictures that was modified and needed backup! F... them!
