I tunes is crashing
I-Tunes begin crashing. I uninstalled and reinstalled and while I reinstalled, it asked me if I my start-up was authorized, I clicked retry and nothing happened. I clicked ignore, it finished downloading, started up and then crashed again. What's up?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

You can authorise your account via the Store drop-down menu at the top of the iTunes screen - if you have iTunes11 then control-B should get the menus to show.

I Tunes 8 crashes Vista 64 bit in sleep mode
I just bought a brand new Dell desktop with Vista 64 bit and installed the 64 bit version of I Tunes 8. The program opened, but I was not yet ready to migrate my files to the new PC so I closed the program and left for a while. When I returned and attempted to wake the computer from sleep mode, the monitor started displaying nothing but a pinstripe pattern and the system was frozen, requiring a hard reboot. A second occurrence convinced me to uninstall and do a system restore. Sleep mode then operated properly again. A new install of IT8 produced the same freeze. The program doesn't have to be open when the system goes into sleep mode to cause the crash. I have not even connected my dock to the PC yet. I have over 22,000 songs on my old PC and am very concerned about bringing them over. Is it possible to obtain a workable version of I Tunes 7 for 64 bit? Any help will be appreciated.
The problem turned out to be related to the ATI video card. Downloading the latest diver fixed it.

Compaq Windows XP Proare you getting any sort of blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked. -
My i tunes are crashing again and again
hey..
i just started my mac book and its not too old and started the the i tunes but its crashing again and again within few second.
I have no idea what to do as i am a recent apple user.Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful. -
Lately all i-tunes upgrades have crashed on Windows 7 and disabled the older version. It usually takes weeks for Apple to fix the problem. Is there a simple way around this issue, short of not upgrading till months after the new release?

I Tunes keeps crashing when I open (Windows 8)
My iTunes constantly crashes and I get a window saying "iTunes has stopped working - a problem has caused ther program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." as it is syncing.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and am using version 11.1.3.8 - Have also done a hard reset and reinstalled apps on iPhone 4S
This is getting really irritating and I don't know what to do any further. I saw a post which talked about installing a small exe programme and did that without success.
The other problem is when I connect a lead from iPhone 4 to iTunes it used to sync photos immediately. It doesn't any more.
Help! Thanks for taking the time and trouble to try and offer help, Chris.
I have tried the steps you say and reported nothing.

Have been having the same problem for months now. Allows me to play but not to delete or subscribe. can anybody help?
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 -

I-Tunes not appearing + crashing system, no solution works so far
General problem description
I-Tunes does not appear after program start, and the computer slowly crashes by other programs (explorer, MSN) all not responding anymore after a while
Sequence of problems
1. I start up I-Tunes from the program list
2. Mouse cursor changes to hourglass quickly, then back to normal
3. I get shown the license agreement (in Dutch, since I am Dutch).
4. I click on 'Akkoord' which is Dutch for 'Agree'
5. The cursor quickly changes to hourglass and back, but nothing further happens
Accurate Problem Details
ITunes.exe, Ituneshelper.exe and Ipodservice.exe all show up in the Windows Task Manager under 'processes'.
None of these programs show up under the 'applications' tab.
After going through steps 1-5, I can access some programs normally, but as soon as explorer or any aspect of it is accessed (such as saving a file in Paint Shop Pro), that program or explorer itself stops responding and crashes.
When I try to reboot my system, it shuts down all the crashing stuff (explorer etc). However, it also shows what I think is I-Tunes as 'not responding'. It has the I-Tunes icon, but the title is all garbled. Presumably, this is the I-Tunes program crashing. The computer won't, in fact, reboot, and just stands still.
Quicktime itself runs fine, and I have no problems with any other programs or instability.
Having my I-Pod Nano 4GB connected or not makes no difference, the crash is the same.
Tried Solutions
I searched the forums and help files for solutions - here's what I've tried so far:
- Uninstalling all Quicktime and Itunes programs, cleaning all files associated with them, using Windows Install Cleanup afterward, and then doing a clean re-install. No result, same problem
- Creating a new 'user' in Windows and running I-Tunes from there. No result, same problem. Crash is the same even when reverting back to the other user.
- Cleaning the I-tunes preference files, hidden files, system32 files etc, no results.
- Uninstalling and completely removing I-Tunes and Quicktime, installing a stand-alone Quicktime, then I-Tunes. No result, same problem.
- Installing AVG anti-malware software and scanning for malware. Nothing found. No result.
- Using an older version of I-Tunes, same problem, no result.
Thanks in advance
Any help from anyone would be very much appreciated. I cannot access my I-Pod nano right now, and have no idea how to get to it.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+, 2gb RAM Windows XP ProITunes.exe, Ituneshelper.exe and Ipodservice.exe all show up in the Windows Task Manager under 'processes'.
When I try to reboot my system, it shuts down all the crashing stuff (explorer etc). However, it also shows what I think is I-Tunes as 'not responding'. It has the I-Tunes icon, but the title is all garbled. Presumably, this is the I-Tunes program crashing. The computer won't, in fact, reboot, and just stands still.
a preliminary question. do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on that PC? i associate those symptoms with the nastier versions of NIS-2005-related itunes launch failures. -
I Tunes crashes every time!
Hi,
I am wondering is someone that is smarter than me could help me out. Every time I click on “podcasts tab” in I tunes it crashes under these circumstances. I open up the itunes program and plug my Iphone in to the computer. Once my Iphone is recognized I click on “my devices” and then click on the “podcast tab”. Every time I do this Itunes crashes. My computer is a windows xp and I just updated Itunes and my Iphone hoping this would fix the problem but it has not. My computer has two different profiles on it with two different Itunes profiles. The second profile works just fine. I have tried restarting the computer but that did not work. I was thinking about re-installing Itunes but I have a lot of music and other settings I didn’t want to lose. Can someone out there please help me. When I send the error repot it includes the following files “C:\DOCUME 1\leo\LOCALS 1\Temp\9f5f_accompat.txtEvery time I click on “podcasts tab” in I tunes it crashes under these circumstances.
That one often seems to be produced by a damaged podcast.
Tracking down the podcast(s) in question can be a pain, though. Jim's technique in the following post seems the most straightforward:
