I-tunes is crazy

My library has reproduced itself which means that I have two of everything and I want to know how to get rid of half the songs. I also don't seem to be able to burn disks anymore the instruction is blank. My screen wobbles now - has anyone else had this problem? Also all my purchases have disappeared does anyone know how I get them back?
All advice gratefully received

I didn't do anything to fix it - the next day, after another reboot (for an unrelated software update) I opened iTunes and tried again, and it worked fine. Go figure.

  • I tunes library craziness

because i changed work and didnt save my last i tunes library, i had to re sync with my current one.  I opted to delete the current tunes on my ipod and use my new library.  However, it seems as though my library has gone, i cant play my library at all???

Providing it's less than 25,000 tunes not including your purchases, then yes it can be done with iTunes match.
There are other devices you can use to make all your content available withoiut iTunes, but then it's all such a mess. So the choice is yours, Apple TV + iTunes = elegant solution, or other device (no iTunes) = jumbled mess.

  • Strange bar position with waves- latency?

    Hi there,
When I add waves tune to any audio track it causes the following strange annoying error :
where ever i put the playhead and press play it start a a few beats before...so for eg if I go to bar 5 and press play it wil start near the end of bar 4
When I moved the whole project a few bars forward waves tune went crazy and completely out of sync.
Ive contacted waves but it seems strange even for them.
Any ideas - fiddled with rewire behaviour to no avail.
Also the move waves plug ins I have the further back it play befre the selected bar.
Im using logic pro 9.1.8 and a recent waves tune update. using macmini i7 2.6ghz with loads of ram snow leppard (latest also)

I found this to be the plug in delay compensation when set to anything but off it behaves this way.
Thanks for all your helpful replies.

If no change after restoring with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, more than likely your iPhone has a hardware problem. You can make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

Apple iPad 2nd Gen 16GB WHITE WIFI , Did a update,  Now it is stuck in I-Tunes Restore Mode. Do you no how to fix? Going crazy. Ran fine before that

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

  • My i tunes won't open. i keep getting error7 (windows error 193) . contacted microsoft(thought it was a windows thing...not) have uninstalled itunes and everything related to it ,re installed and message still comes up. Help please, driving me crazy.

help. my iTunes wont open. I keep getting the message error7 (windows error 193). contacted Microsoft they said contact iTunes support. I have uninstalled all iTunes componets and then reinstalled everything but message still comes up... its driving me crazy.

If it's a Windows error, it's typically going to be a Microsoft problem. Uninstall any security software you have and if you have a restore point for your PC, you may want to restore your PC back to when iTunes was working normally. If none of those work you would need to contact Microsoft and demand help.

Hi Fred, yes my Optical went on the fritz in my iMac 7,1, quite common & Optical drives are not long lived in my experience.
If I can not correct it, can I use a stand alone CD player hooked up to the computer and listen to music as I work using the computer speaker system. If so, what would you recommend that I use?
    Yes...

I have Windows XP 64 bit which I believe is required and as I said I have always had itunes on this computer and it worked fine.  I wish I hadn't done the upgrade now.  HELP.  How can I get my itunes back on my laptop.  I do still have it on my IPhone but wanted to download music on my laptop so I can use gift cards to purchase.

This forum is for questions about Apple Remote Desktop, Apple's software for managing networked Mac systems, and hence not the best place for your question. I'd suggest asking in the iTunes for Windows forum.
Note, however, that iTunes has never been supported on the 64-bit version of Windows XP, so you're on your own to attempt to get it working.

  • I Tunes has went crazy

I am using a INTEL IMAC (MODEL iMac 6.1)with OS 10.4.11. I use the installed CD player to listen to music as I work on screen. The CD player started to make a awful noise about two-three months ago. It would go away after a while. But two days ago, it will not load a CD at times, it will just emit a very loud noise and to me it acts like it is hung up on a track. When it does load, it may play one track and then hang up. I used the Scotch cleaner disk, but it also hangs up and I have to FORCE QUIT the program.
Has anyone experience this problem and if so how did you correct it.
If I can not correct it, can I use a stand alone CD player hooked up to the computer and listen to music as I work using the computer speaker system. If so, what would you recommend that I use?

  • Iphone 5s won't sync with itunes on windows 8 - i can see all the tunes in there, artwork etc but they won't play

    Hi
Hope one of you can help, thanks in advance.......
    windows 8/iphone 5s/latest IOS
I've synced my iphone with my pc and backed up too and when i go into music on my iphone i can see all the tunes listed on there including album covers etc but when i go to play one of the tunes nothing happens or sometimes the phone goes kind of crazy and seems to scroll through every album (visually) on the phone and then stop?! still without playing any actual music?
In the apple store they told me to un-sync music and then re-sync which i did but this hasn't worked. although when i had un-synced and went into my phone to check whether music had been removed it was still there (but still didn't play as described above)
so really i want to know either 1) how to properly delete all the songs from the phone and then re-install them or 2) just get them to sync properly!
Other info - i transfered itunes to a new pc recently and up until just now, i couldn't play these tunes on itunes on my PC, they opened in some terrible microsoft thing - but i just changed the file associations inside windows and now they play great - just not on my phone as described above - maybe this has something to do with the problem?
Also, this only applies to music copied from cd-> itunes on pc 1 ->itunes on pc 2-> iphone.   songs purchased from itunes store work fine
    Thanks for reading

"I was thinking I would just connect my iPhone and all of my music and other stuff would transfer to the new computer. "
Not true. The music and pic sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
You really should transfer everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your computer. Since you do not have access to the old computer, then use your backup copy of the old computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you would have to transfer itunes purchased as described earlier. Any other itunes content would be lost.
You can e-mail photo library pics to yourself, but they will not be of the original quality.
Before syncing, enter at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge the data.

  • Dynex LCD seems to have a faulty digital tuner?

After WOW cable (and other cable companies) switched to the all digital format, my Dynex LCD started flipping out every time I try to use it. We don't have cable boxes or converter boxes, as we only have a basic package of 80-some channels. WOW told us we could use the digital tuner that came with all newer TVs to get our channels. And trust me, we were happy to throw the converter boxes and their awful remote controls back in their face.
Anyways, now my TV does some really strange things. While I'm watching it (at least 5 feet away the remote at all times, mind you), it changes the channel to some random channel number that we don't actually get. So say I'm on channel 23. It'll switch to channel 100.193 or something odd like that. And it'll tell me there's no signal. When I try to switch back to the channel I was on, it tells me again that there's no signal, then proceeds to scroll through all the channels, deleting each one as it goes, completely unprovoked. In order to watch TV again, I have to auto scan my channels again, which seems to take forver sometimes. Normally I have to do this 3-10 times a day, and it's getting really annoying. If I have to scan my channels every time I want to watch TV for more than hour, I'm going to go crazy. I don't have enough money to go out and buy a new TV again, and I'm not in charge of the cable bill so I don't get to tell anyone they're getting cable boxes. My grandma said she'd rather die than shell out money to the evil cable company for cable boxes because she "can live without TV happily." Well, I'm a typical 19 year old and I really can't. So I'm not sure what to do here. I've been told the digital tuner is probably broken, and I either need to replace it myself or take it back to the store to have it fixed. I'm not keen on hauling a 32" LCD back to Best Buy, nor am I prepared to tear open my TV and attempt to fix a digital tuner when I have no idea what one looks like or how to go about replacing it. Is there anything I can do besides unhooking everything and trying to take it back? I sleep with my TV on and it's kind-of scary to wake up in the middle of the night and watch my TV scroll through channels by itself.
Also, this is the only LCD in the house that does this, but it's also the only Dynex. All 3 of our LCDs are different brands.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think your assessment of the issue is on point. Sounds like either A) Problem with your cable company or B) Finicky tuner...probably the latter.
If you bought it less than a year ago, that is the type of thing that should be replaceable under manufacturer's warranty. If you bought it more than a year ago (assuming you did not buy Best Buy's Geek Squad Black Tie Protection), you will have to pay them to assess and service the faulty components. Unfortunately you will have to bring the TV back to the nearest store to you either way. :/

  • No downloads from I tunes showing up on Ipad Mini

    Hi,
I am a new user of Ipad mini. I am struggling with that when I purchase audiobooks from itunes on my ipad; they don't show up in the purchased section, or in the music section or anywhere else for that matter. They are not on my macbook even though i have opted for home sharing. Right now I do not have either music or audiobooks I have downloaded onto my pad. i have no problem downloading magazines and kindle books however. It just I tunes that seems to be the problem. I hae not plugged it into my mac and synced before because I don't need to: I download the things that I want on my ipad directly onto my pad.
I know that the transactions for the books have gone through, as when I have tried to buy the audiobooks again, there comes a warning that I have already purchased them. They also show up when I look at my purchase history for my apple account. But they are nowwhere to be found and I am going crazy! Any hep??
    Thanks!
    Marilyn

unfortunately not there! In similar eposts people have suggested that audiobooks download to music rather that ibooks.....but when I go onto the music app  there comes up a white blank page with a player at the top and the message: ' no music available...you can download music from itunes'... I have also seen in other mails that people talk about going into the music app and clicking on the menu on the bottom right hand side...in my app there is no such menu, just a white blank page with the above message in the middle.....any ideas??

  • I lost all of my tunes somewhere between updates...

    !#%!^^!!($@*! Crap! This bites...
    Here's the scenario:
    - I have a G5 and a Shuffle (single user on 10.4.2, nothing funky at all - very vanilla setup and well maintained).
    - Updated to iTunes 5.01 earlier this week didn't fire up iTunes until tonight
    - Prior to opening the new and improved iTunes 5.01 tonight I did the Shuffle update posted today
    - Shuffle update went fine, software updated indicated it completed without fault
    - Opened iTunes, accepted new license agreement and entered the normal library interface
    - Reconnected the Shuffle (took it off the USB cable during reboot from Security Update applied) to receive an error msg. about being unable to locate files... Huh?
    - Sure enough, my budding library of ~200 songs was pruned to about 10 or so working songs. No difference if paid for on iTunes, ripped from my CDs, or acquired - the tunes are GONE
    - I see the folders for the artist and tracks but no actual file
Contacted Apple support and with a bit of creative guidance from somebody in a land far away realized how quickly everything became my fault...
Mmmkay. So deleting the playlist from the Shuffle last week not only deleted the thirty songs on the Shuffle but also mangled the rest of my library? I think that's a stretch especially noting the Shuffle and the songs contained in the playlist worked fine prior to tonight.
So, now that I've vented briefly over the loss of my music and the frustration of less than stellar support I have to ask if anybody else encountered similar voodoo?
I'd hate to think I run the risk of losing my songs everytime Apple publishes updates for iTunes or iPods.
Sure I can back up right now when my library is small, but how do folks manage this with gigs of tunes? I could hook up my DAT drive but finding an affordable SCSI card for the G5 is proving difficult and I'm not crazy about keeping a stack of DVDs laying around.
    Gah! Frustrating.
Any input appreciated. For now I must locate my old SATA drive just pulled from the G5 and see if my iTunes folder backup is on that drive....

Something is definitely amiss here folks. I just plugged in my 120G SATA drive removed from my G5 roughly one month ago. And I encountered the same voodoo.
After extracting the new 250G and inserting the old 120G drive I unfortunately had no success. Lo and behold the same symptom for iTunes, all of the artist and album folders are in there but no actual MP3/AAC files.
I know the 120G drive was intact prior to removal (the 120G files were the copied to my 160G boot drive and then into the new 250G drive running as the iTunes repository) and the files from the 120G and the 160G were playable when the drive was removed (I could browse at will and open the files on the 120G or the 160G).
This reminds me of the days when I was an Apple Certified Tech and System 7 came out. That OS had the voodoo where files would "disappear". Of course as we later learned that was not the case, and the cure was relatively easy. That behavior is akin to what I'm seeing here.
I wonder if I can "revert" to iTunes 4.9 just to see if anything changes (or maybe the OS prior to the last security update if that had any file system revisions in it - need to check that).
For what it's worth I did search the drive(s) to see if the files were simply mis-placed somehow and as anticipated, nothing revealed from the search.
Can I conact the iTunes Store/Support to re-download any of the purchased music I had?
This is not a real confidence builder for getting into the world of iTunes. But, I should of course heed my own words of wisdom - back up early, back up often....
