I tunes is skipping

I read several posts about this, but nothing seems to be helping the issue. My i tunes is skipping on every song. Is there a way to fix this problem?

There is an alternative version for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version of 12.1.0.77.  The alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer.  The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio - one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8.
If this doesn't address the issue, you may want to think about reverting to iTunes 12.0 - see Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.

If no change after restoring with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, more than likely your iPhone has a hardware problem. You can make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • Purchased and downloaded song in i-tunes , it skips and gets stuck in spots . Am I stuck with it ?

I couldn't find anyway to get in touch with anyone at I-Tunes for an answer . Not very good customer service on Apples part . Is there any way to get a replacement song from I-Tunes or do I have to just take my chances and purchase it over again and hope for the best .

    Hello Normsoft support here,
Any crash in Pocket Tunes can usually be explained by one of five things. Most common is a corrupt audio file. Second is a corrupt file system on the expansion card. Third is having incompatible software installed. Fourth is a corrupt installation of Pocket Tunes. The final one occurs with streaming audio, and is due to a low amount of available internal memory on the device itself. Palm memory being flash, the nature of the beast can cause file corruptions. The steps to resolve the problem would best be performed as:
    1. Make sure you have the current version of Pocket Tunes installed. You can get the latest version here
    Desktop: http://www.pocket-tunes.com/download.html or
    Mobile:  http://www.pocket-tunes.com/mobile/index.html
    2. Make sure you have no incompatible programs installed, or have applied the solution for those that provide one. A list will be provided below.
    3. Try reinstalling Pocket Tunes to rule out the possibility of a corrupt program file.
    4. Format your card with the Card Info application to rule out the possibility of a bad file system on the card. Run Pocket Tunes with no audio files installed. If it doesn't crash, then that rules out an incompatible program.
    5. Install your audio files, preferably one at a time until you find which one or ones are causing a problem.
    Incompatible programs:
Hi-Launcher 3 - May cause your device to freeze when Pocket Tunes is running and you use Hi_launcher to turn off the device
OnlyMe - May cause a crash when screen turns off. Uninstall OnlyMe
ImageClock 1.5 - Can cause your device to reset when Pocket Tunes goes from one song to the next. May also cause excessive skipping when it is in the foreground and Pocket Tunes is playing in the background. Uninstall ImageClock
BrightIQ - Causes crash when used with Pocket Tunes.
VolumeCare 3.17 or earlier - With VolumeCare activated, the ability to use the Treo volume buttons to control PocketTunes volume is compromised. Update to the latest version
headsetcontrol - If you plug in a cassette adaptor it can cause Pocket Tunes to skip to the next song.
FontSmoother 1.68 or earlier - May cause the background to disappear on the LifeDrive. Update to latest version
VeriChat - Can sometimes use up resources when running in the background.
Unfortunately I am unable to monitor this thread, however if you require further assistance please feel free to submit a support ticket using the link below:

  • Itunes songs are skipping

Running Windows XP- I-tunes is skipping on all songs, regardless if added from store or CD. Have run repair diagnostics, reinstalled itunes, updated it, etc. Still skips on EVERY SONG. Am nauseous when I think of the time that I have spent trying to fix this ridiculous problem....
    HELP!

I also experience massive frustration with version 12.0.1.26 with my XP sp3
spent hours uninstalling and rooting out files by hand, re-installed and still cannot get more than a few seconds into my songs and iTunes starts burping and skipping. I cannot afford to spend hours on the computer when I have to be working.
Last version worked FINE, this new version is really ******* me off!

  • Videos skipping

When I take a video with my iphone 4S and try to view it on my PC it skips a lot.  I can view it just fine on my phone, but when I download it to my computer and try to view it (either through Quick Time or I tunes), it skips so much that it's too annoying to even try to watch.  How can I fix this?

Sorry I just realised this is the original MacBook forums :P I will post it in the other ones instead

  • Static when playing music via USB in car stereo after updating to OS4.1

    Greetings everyone.
After updating my iPod Touch (3rd Gen) to OS4.1 I am experiencing static, scratching like or popping sounds when I am playing music in my car using the USB port. I do not get these noises when I am listening with a set of earbuds, only when in the car and connected via USB. I haven't yet tried bluetooth connection but will give it a shot tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced this?
If any one from Apple is following this thread please give me some advice how to correct this problem. I suppose if I have too and bluetooth connection gives me the same trouble I will need to restore my iPod. Is it possible to go back in OS? I was using OS 4.0.2 prior without any problems.
    Thanks
    Dave

Dave this is what i went thru this past week with Apple Tech
    Ipod problem
Aug 19 2010 Purchased New IPOD McDill AFB
Sep 15th 2010 Upgraded IPOD software from 3.1.3 to 4.1
    On Sep 16 2010,
I notice that I tunes was skipping in my car using the USB connector. When I use the Audio output jack on the IPod the ITunes music did not skip. I hooked up a NANO to the USB connector in my car and the music played good no skips.
    Sep 17 2010
I notified Apple Care and told them of the problem and they concluded it was an IPOD Problem. They issued a repair number (177988440) and notified Apple Distributer in Brandon, FL ( 50 miles from my home) to allow me to exchange the
    IPOD for a newer one Ser# 9E0344816K2.
When I connected the new IPod to My Mac I was prompted to upgrade the IPOD software from 3.1.3 to 4.1. However, before I upgraded I notified the Apple Technician (Ms. Daylin Dat # 877-416-4271 Ex 2845) of the replacement and I asked if it was feasible to upgrade the IPOD to 4.1 since I believed the new up grade caused the problem.
Daylin, said to go ahead and up grade the IPOD to the 4.1 version.
When I completed the up grade I connected the IPOD to my car’s USB connection and the same problem occurred in the new IPOD.
I took the new IPOD to Gettle Toyotta in Bradenton and asked if I could use one of their cars that has a USB connection and test out my IPOD and sure enough I had the same problem with the ITunes music (It was skipping).
I notified Apple Technician again and they said go back up to the Brandon Apple distributor and get a replacement for this IPOD. I said no because it was a 100 mile round trip so they said were going to mail me a replacement.
I returned the IPOD to Apple they did all kinds of in house test and said there was no problem wit it so they sent it back to me. So now i'm stuck with a IPOD that i cannot use with the USB connection in my auto
Note I went on Toyota Prius forum site and there was a lot of discussion with the IPOD 3rd generation with IOS 4.1
A lot of people are have this problem
I notified Apple Tech and sent them a link to the Prius Form site.
So that where it stands right now.
By the way I hooked up the IPOD to a brand new Honda USB port and it worked great so the issue is with the IPOD IOS 4.1 and Toyota autos.

  • How to stop auto play to next song?

I was wondering if there is a pref or option that will prevent iTunes from playing the next song on the list so that once the selected song is finished, iTunes will NOT play the next song? Thanks in advance for your help!

The only way I know of is to uncheck all the tracks. Tunes will skip unchecked tracks, so if they're all unchecked, iTunes will play one and then stop. To uncheck all the tracks, control-click on any checkbox and it will select or unselect them all.

  • Has anyone had any success solving the stuttering problem in iTunes?

A few months ago, my iTunes began skipping after playing fine for twenty minutes or so.  The skips or stutters then get closer and closer together until it is simply unlistenable.  A restart finds the tunes that skipped before now working fine, but with new ones eventually stuttering.  My RAM and HD space are in good shape.  Advisors have offered assistance, but to no avail.  (Neither was familiar with the problem).  Judging from the number of entries one gets when Googling "iTunes skipping", I'd say this is a well-documented problem, yet nobody connected with Apple seems to know exactly what I'm talking about.  I've tried fixing permissions, re-installing Snow Leopard, resetting PRAM, safe-booting;  my next step is uninstalling and re-installing iTunes, which disheartens me because of all the people who have tried it to no avail.  Any ideas?

To be honest if you had experienced it you would know exactly what i am talking about. I am running a top of the range retina display and get a bad laging issues when doing something a simple as maybe changing the volume of a kick in ultra beat and it will freeze for 30 odd seconds. it shouldnt be happening with such a powerful machine. I have reinstalled it, i have tried it in loew res i have tried it in 64 bit all of which still have the same issue. Even after being in to the apple store and being on the phone numerous times i still havent come to a conclusion therefore i was trying to gauge if anyone else had the same issues or if apple just need to hurry up and release an update.

  • Why aren't some songs I've purchased through i-tunes not playing to their entirety and just skipping to the next song in my library?

Hey guys. I'm hoping someone can please help me with this issue as I am becoming increasingly frustrated with my situation. I just recently purchased an i-Phone 4S and have been solely purchasing songs for it through the i-tunes store. For some reason though, I've been noticing that for multiple songs (this is currently still happening with random songs that I download from the store) that it will not allow me to play the entire song. One song that I download "Let me love you" by Ne-Yo will only play until right around the two-minute mark before it completly cuts off and continues to the next song. I've tried deleting the songs that this occurs with and re-downloading them, but this fails to work. I simply want to be able to listen to my songs in their entirety or there is no point in purchasing the songs through the store. Someone please help me? It would be greatly appreciated. I'm running Windows Vista on my Toshiba Satellite M305D-S4840 and have i-tunes 5.1.1 if that helps.

I am having a similar problem, only all my old songs that I have purchased and some songs from cd's are playing about 2/3 of the way then skipping to next song. I just transferred all of my music back to my computer. The last songs I purchased are playing just fine. This song skipping carries over to my iPod that I restored last night as well. I am glad (but not glad) to know others are having similar issues.
I hope this can be resolved.
Updating to iTunes 10.7.0.21 does not fix this problem by the way...tried this earlier.

  • Skipping Songs Bought From I-Tunes

So I am having a problem with 4 songs from The Tragically Hip's Live At Austin City Limits Album. And I know of 3 other people and 4 different I-Pods from regular to Nano that will not play these 4 songs. It just skips right over them. The first 3 songs:Courage, Lonely End of The Rink, and Gus The Polar Bear all work fine. Then the next 4 Bobcaygeon, Poets, At The Hundreth Meridian, and Blow at High Dough will skip right through and not play a thing. All the songs play on our I-Tunes, but only the 3 work on our I-Pods. And we purchased the album through I-Tunes.
    Why wont they work?
(And I have tried all the 5 R's and well I am still here asking the question so they obviously didnt work)

    Hi danrather108,
I know this may sound basic, but have you tried the suggestions from this Knowledge Base article?:
