I Tunes question

Everytime I open up I tunes, it duplicates all my folders in the playlist section except for the folders I`ve made. It imports all my songs all over again. It says importing itunes library xmtl.Any ideas?

1st question: "The naming of cats": Whenever a bounce occurs, Logic has to give the new file a filename (doh!). So, what name should it give? Unless you tell in the bounce dialog, Logic will default to the Output Channel's name, which is Output 1-2 (which means stereo out). Now, if you bounce a second time, this filename already exists, so Logic says "what the f...? Okay, let's give it another number!" And so Logic appends the number (1...2...3) to the filename.
You can prevent it, however, by giving the whole thing your own filename.
Now comes the tricky part: The filename of the AAC or MP3 file is not the songname, which is imprinted into the ID3 tags instead. To edit these tags, klick on the MP3 bounce options (target: MP3) and select "write ID3 tags" There you can edit very many Tags, and most important: The songname.
Be advised Logic stores it's bounces in the Project Folder, subfolder "bounces", unless you select another folder.
2nd question: The magic word is "mastering". This is, to treat the final audio mix in a way that it sounds good on your home stereo, in your car's CD player and on you little sisters iPod. The first step to achieve this is to know your speakers. If you mix your song with HIFI stereo speakers, and it sounds "great", it usually doesn't sound great somewhere else. Because of this, there are studio monitors. So, start with getting a decent pair of active studio monitors. Rokits are great for example. These speakers ensure the audio you hear is as "flat" as possible, making it possible for you to make a great "neutral" mix which sounds good on very many different home stereos.
The second step is: If you really want to produce a CD, you should send your song to a professional mastering studio. They know how to do it right. It is very difficult to get these results yourself - even if you are a professional. Mastering is an art of itself.
However, if you burned a CD, how did you do it? Via iTunes? Or from Logic direct?

I'm unsure about how to get the TV tuner to work I live in apartment with a cable jack so I don’t have a cable box. The cable line up schedule shows up and is correct and everything, but the channels are just static and blurry. I tried to just plug the cable line in to the computer’s card, but that also did not work.
what should i do?

Select all the items in the playlist and right click on one. Select 'uncheck selection' from the menu that pops up.
With all the items unchecked there is no item to continue on to after the current item has played.

Hi I'm hoping someone can help me as I'm upset that i've just lost alot of music on my i-pod when I was re charging it on my new laptop (as I have to hand in my old one every three years and silly me forgot to save a copy of my old music library as I just assumed it was safe on my ipod). Unfortunately I think i've lost it all as I also have my small shuffle connected to this new laptop (a friend set it all up for me and I guess I don't understand what happened. But now all the music from my shuffle is on my classic which is only 66 songs and different music and what was on my classic about 365 songs are gone many of which i manually uploaded from my old cd collections. The common consensus is that database/sql code does not belong in a JSP. JSTL provides that ability, but does put a caveat that it should only really be used for prototyping / small applications.
The more 'correct' way to do it, is to put the database code into java using JDBC. Write a data access method, and return the results in a list of beans.
So first you need a bean to represent a news article.
You might consider changing the date/time fields into a java.util.Date, but thats up to you.

Air Tunes Question

A friend of mine has asked me to set up a new iMac for him and connect it to his Amplifier so he can play his iTunes playlists through his stereo system.
I was going to use AirTunes but having read some of the stories of failing AirPort Extreme boxes I'm wondering if it is the way to go or not.
As his iMac is going to be in fairly close proximity to his amp can I connect it directly with a wired connection?

Hi,
I do use an Airport Express to stream music and I could not live without it. But still, there are effectively stories about failing AE in time, you may experience drop out in case of wireless interference, etc.
My suggestion is "keep it simple". If you do not need an extra device, don't use it. If a wire connection is possible, why adding more software and hardware in the loop?

XT-100HD HD Radio Tuner Question

Does anyone know if you install the Hd Radio module will you lose your Xm? I contacted support about this but they said you wont I just don't see enough connections I would like to just use SNYSC1+ SIRIUS SCC1 to make everything accessible through the head unit.

Can We Have a Perfomance Tuning Forum?

There are forums for Upgrade, Installation, Backup/Recovery & RMAN.But there is none for performance tuning. All the questions about the reports ie Statspack/AWR, Sql queries, they are pushed in the Database General forum only. With heavy volume of generic questions coming there, these threads bury inside them. I have been asked couple of times by several people/friends that why there is not any dedicated OTN forum for Performance Tuning? So if community and you think its a good thing to do, can we have a dedicated DB Performance Tuning forum too?

SQL queries tunning is not same as database tunning. Furthermore, most of the SQL queries tunning question go into SQL & PL/SQL forums.
Moreover, more you have forums, more difficult is to find active knowledge people in every single forum. We cannot track many forums as well as few of them depending of your interest.
See, few months ago, the Upgrade forum has been created, and since, only 153 posts there, it is not very used. Why ?
It has been discuss many times over here, have a dedicated forum by features/interest, or have a big one.
I don't find really strange db tunning question in the database general forum. I think even the upgrade question there have their place in that forum.
If any new forum is created, the knowledge people have to follow to maintain that forum popular, which is not sure at all. Whether we are agreed to spend our time over the forums, that'll become very complicated to be active in more than 3 or 4 forums even if there is interest.
See, OTN has upgraded the forum software for a better service, I don't think it has been reach. So, let's keep it simple.

If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

I-Tunes and and External Drive...Questions!

Hello, starting my music collection seriously for the 1st time and have some questions.
When you use an external drive how does i-Tunes recognize this?
Will it still allow me to browse through everything ( album artwork etc) as if the music was in the i-Tunes music folder or will it just be a bunch of folders listed on a drive.

Have your tried pugging into a differnt usb port, do you have any other usb devices that you could try unplugging.
I wonder if fiddling with the drive letter qould help as in this Apple artcle about another problem relating to incorrect recognition of drives.

Is there any support on the drive manufacturers site? This kind of thing does seem to crop up with external drives sometimes Windows doesn't even recognise them.

It keeps telling me I its linked to another account but it shouldn't anymore. Plus my security questions belong to the other person and it has no reset option

At 60 and totally confused w/version . Not clue with how to use it and how to change it. My question - If a new version of i-tunes can be offered why not the older version as being a choice? Too simple or just impossible to do? I hate to drop i-tunes.

At 60 years of age and totally challenged by todays technology I find it impossible to understand i-tunes Version 11. You can still drag and drop a song into a Playlist, in the same manner as before. Simply use the left-click of your mouse to select-and-hold the song (left-click-and-hold, don't release the click) and drag it to and then drop it (release the click) into the Playlist you want. (You cannot drop it into a Smart Playlist, you can only drop it into a Regular Playlist.)
... and here's a screenshot dragging the song "Lazy Orbit" into the Regular Playlist "Sat 4th June 2011". A small + symbol also appears in the drag, but it doesn't show up on screenshots. If the move is forbidden, a red slash through a red circle appears instead of the + symbol.
As for the Albums thing; in the Column Browser, right-click anywhere in the Column Browser header (see my screenshots in my previous post) and a menu appears. Deselect Albums on that menu to remove Albums from the upper Columns:
... and for the columns underneath (with the songs list etc.), right-click on that header bar and once again, deselect Albums from the menu that appears. The Albums column will then be removed from the lower columns list.
