I tunes says not enuf space 4G=1,000 songs only syncs 890

I have i tunes 8. something I've been having problems with it since its been updated. i tunes 7. watever was the better version. anyway the problem is my i tunes keeps saying there is not enuf room but i dont have anything but music on the i pod. one ipod is a 4G i was able to get 1,012 songs on it at one time in the past now it is only giving me 891 songs. i would like to get a new i pod maybe an 8G but then i will only be able to put 1,300 songs. get what i mean? please give me sum advice on this its such a pain to add or change my music lately. and i'm afraid to download the newest version being that it seems to have created the problem in the first place.

I have the exact same problem! I updated to 1.2.2 this evening, and immediately my entire library was wiped out. However, nothing appears to be wrong when I use iTunes--the device syncs and the space is allocated to music and videos like normal. I've reset and restored numerous times and all that I see on my iPod when I select Albums is All > and then All > and then nothing.
I hope that updating to v7.5 works, but this is really frustrating because I have a slow internet connection and it's taking about an hour to download. I can't believe that Restore doesn't allow you to roll back a disfunctional software upgrade.

- Because as the message says what you want to sync to the iPad exceed the space available on the iPad. You either have to sync less to the iPad or delete some items from the iPad.
- Also, in the colored bargraph that shows the distribution of storage on the iPad, how large is the "other" category? If larger than about 1 1/2 GB then restoring the iPod should reduce that so you can regain that storage.

Resolution
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
1. Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
2. Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
3. Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
4. Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
          - If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
5. Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
          - Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
          - Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
          - Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
          - Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
6. Restore using iTunes.

Pictures, assuming they were taken with the device, can be copied off at any time. This has nothing to do with syncing.
If the pictures were instead synced to the device via iTunes, they are not the original images. Instead, they are optimized copies of the originals for display on the iPhone. There is software that can extract them, google it.
Where is the backup of the computer? And before you ask, the iPhone, like all iDevices, is not and has never been a backup device.

The estimated song capacities, such as 4000 songs in 16 GB, are based on 4 minute songs of 4 MB each, which is what you get at 128 encoding.
Most of us nowadays use well above 128. (For example, the iTunes Store and Amazon MP3 both sell songs only in 256.)
However, you can still make more songs fit! When you sync your iPod, use the option to "convert higher bit rate songs," as pictured. Choose 128. This fits more on the iPod, but does not change the songs in your library.

Ok my old I pod kept freezing my i-tunes so i restored the factory settings and could not get any music back on it. So I just bought a new one backed up my library deleted everything i-pod and itunes related off my computer and started over.
Now I am trying to sync my new i-pod the rest of the way (it already put some music on there) and it is saying "Atttemping to copy to the disk "SAMAIRA'S I" failed. There is not enough memory available.
It's 120 GB and even I-tunes says there is still 111.55 GB free!!!!
Someone please help I've already been without one for a month now and it *****.

I need help! When I'm on the "Summary" tab on itunes, at the bottom where it shows my capacity, what is "other"?! It's taking up more than half of my space!? I deleted alot of my contacts on my ipod. Trying to build a DVD image, DVDSP4 says not enough space

I have many years' experience using DVD Studio Pro 4, so this hopefully is not a stupid question.
I'm using an iMac with 80gb free and an external HDD with 12gb free. I have authored a DVD in DVD Studio Pro 4. The project says it's 4.6gb.
I need to make a disc image file of the DVD so I can burn it to DVD media using another computer. When I do this, it encodes for hours and then says "Formating Failed. Not enough space of the output media" (I might be paraphrasing.)
The only possiblt output medias, the iMac and the external drive, both have plenty of space, and the project is under the limit. So what gives?

Let me try this again, because I think we're not communicating.
I have authored a DVD Studio 4 project with menus and assets, etc. It simulates just fine. The tab on the top of the DVDSP screen indicates my project is 4.6gb. This means I should have no problem turning this project into a DVD. The computer I'm working on has no DVD burning capabilities so I want to create a disc image of the project instead of burning a DVD. I have done this before, where DVDSP encodes and builds a file that I can then use Disk Utility to burn to a DVD. So, once I have my disk image, I will transfer that file to another computer, and use Disk Utility on that second computer to burn the DVD from the disk image.
NOW
The problem I'm having is that DVDSP is not able to make the disk image. When I go to "Build/Format", it should make a disk image, but instead, I get an error saying there is not enough space on the output device. The "output device" in this case is my external Hard drive which has plenty of space. That is why I am asking for help.
