I tunes updater missing component

My Apple Updater is missing some sort of component and won't update. I get an error message from Windows. I have tried to remove it in the control panel and it won't let me and says it's missing a windows controller. So I went into search and tried to remove the file and it won't let me do that either. I have also removed the entire Apple program and then went to i tunes and re-installed it and that doesn't help it either. Any ideas?

Bump!
I also have this proublem, except my Updater language is set to Japanese. I have sent 2 support request to Apple. The first one I got back just said to make sure my Apple iTunes store language was set to English (it is) and I have not received a response from my second request. iTunes runs in English.
Thanks for any help.

    Dear Windows support personel,
         As part of my message reads above; I keep getting an i-tunes update message and when I click on the OK to download it, I get an error message saying there was a problem and I need to go to Tools>manual download.  Well, I don't know how to do that even though I gave it my best try. I went to the support sight and it had the following message;
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then, restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or  only uninstalling some of these components, may have unintended affects.
If you encounter an error while uninstalling, try repairing the affected component:
I don't know if I should do that since I'm not PC savey. Could you help me by doing the work on my pc for me? I'd be most apprieciative if you'd help me in this manner.
    Sincerely,
    Christine Bocker

  • Missing Component in 8.02

I just started getting a message that iTunes cannot open due to a missing component (-42404).
This is a mystery to me.
I did an arhive and install recently, but that should not affect my apps, should it?

Yes I can help! we have an answer!
I did a search for 42404, and that last answer is what worked.

    3) restarted OS 10.411( Tiger)
    4)reinstalled I tunes 9.02

  • I tunes update and 80gb reset

After doing the i tunes update about a week ago, and having it make me re-boot ( or whatever you call it ) my I pod, I then had to re-everything in my library. After re-syncing, I got several error messages that say that the following songs could be imported. I don't know why, they all worked before. I also get a message that says I have movies that are not in the proper format to play on my I ppod. These movies all worked before, and they work in I tunes, but they won't go on my I pod.
Makes me not want to do the updates any more.

I tried uninstalling itunes but still got he MSVCR80.dll error on reboot.  The Apple Mobile Service would not start due to MSVCR80.dll missing, and it would not uninstall either.  You got just to the end of the uninstallation and it just rolled back to the start!   I nearly threw the PC out the window!
The only solution I found was to restore to before the itunes update, and even then it said some files were missing.  I reinstalled from a itunes backup that is automatically saved in C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\iTunes 11.1.3.8 and I just ran the iTunes 11.1.3.8.msi file and it successfully reinstalled iTunes.  Yay.  I'm sure most people will have this previous version in that folder.  Please note I tried to install it before the restore and it did nothing and wouldn't install due to the Apple mobile service not being started and it wouldn't start.  So restore then reinstall if required was the only thing that worked.
To restore in windows just press the start button and type system restore into the text box.  It will only restore programs and won't effect your documents etc.  If the restore says itunes, pick the one before it!
I'm really disappointed with Apple.  Why haven't they pulled the update with so many people having issues?  Not one post from them to say they are working on the issue, and their support pages suck.  There is no way to contact a human without jumping through about 10 pages of guff and then you have to phone them only.  No online support or contact forum.
I'll be waiting the next version to install an update and then I will be checking here for issues first from now on.

  • Disable Software Updates client component

I want to temporarily disable the Software Updates Agent component on a subset of 2012 R2 clients.
Based on the example of how to disble SWDist here: http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/rzander/archive/2008/08/11/sms-sccm-commandline.aspx and digging into WMI a little deeper I thought this might do the trick...
    WMIC /namespace:\\root\ccm\policy\machine\requestedconfig path CCM_SoftwareUpdatesClientConfig  CREATE ComponentName="SmsSoftwareUpdate",Enabled="false",LockSettings="TRUE",PolicySource="local",PolicyVersion="1.0"
    ,SiteSettingsKey="1" /NOINTERACTIVE
I kept getting "ERROR: Description = Not Found". Although the namespace and class exist, I'm wondering if I'm missing a required property or something changed with 2012 or ... ?.
If anyone has experience doing this you're help would be greatly appreciated!

Good catch, that explains it. After removing the LockSettings
property it worked. Thank you Peter and Jason for the quick responses!
To Disable SW Updates Agent Component:
    WMIC /namespace:\\root\ccm\policy\machine\requestedconfig path CCM_SoftwareUpdatesClientConfig CREATE ComponentName="SmsSoftwareUpdate",Enabled="false",PolicySource="local",PolicyVersion="1.0" ,SiteSettingsKey="1" /NOINTERACTIVE
To Enable SW Update Agent component (reverse change):
    WMIC /namespace:\\root\ccm\policy\machine\requestedconfig path CCM_SoftwareUpdatesClientConfig WHERE (ComponentName="SmsSoftwareUpdate" AND Enabled="false" AND PolicySource="local" AND PolicyVersion="1.0") delete /NOINTERACTIVE

  • Reinstalling Tiger: Software Update Missing Many Updates

I've seen a few similar topics on this issue, but only in so far as Software Update missing an update here or an update there. I am currently reinstalling Tiger on a Power Macintosh G3 B&W that has been heavily upgraded. The system specs are as follows..
1GHz PowerLogix G3 (using MAChSpeed to enable full processor speed since the included CPU Director software won't work in 10.4.11)
    1GB of RAM
128MB Radeon 9200 Graphics card connected to an LG 1952 display and set to 1440x900 / millions of colors
I'd go on, but the remainder of the hardware upgrades should have no effect on Software Update to the best of my knowledge. Previously I had this machine running 10.4.11, and through the Software Update program I had installed all of the recommended updates, which included numerous security updates, Safari 4.0.3, and iTunes 8.2.1. Everything was running perfectly smoothly, but after having tested several software configurations and having decided on one in particular, I set out to reinstall Tiger from scratch in order to keep things as clean as possible. I've tried several different times now with the same results each time. Once the system is up and running, regardless of whether or not I install MAChSpeed before or after running Software Update, Software Update simply does not provided all of the updates that I believe are actually there. It did see and did allow me to install the following updates..
10.4.11 Combo update (I installed this one separately before any other updates)
    Java 1.3.1 and 1.4.2 Release 2
    iTunes Phone Driver 1.0
    Migration and DVD/CD Sharing Update
    Quicktime 7.6.4
    Security Update 2009-005 (PPC)
    J2SE 5.0 Release 4
Java for Mac OS X 10.4, release 5
    [ditto], release 6
    [ditto], release 7
    [ditto], release 8
    [ditto], release 9
Unless Security Update 2009-005 is meant to be a combined security update (doubtful), there are obviously several security updates that are missing. Also, I'm surprised that Software Update saw and installed Quicktime 7.6.4 but didn't see or install the latest PPC versions of iTunes or Safari. Safari 4.0.3 as I understand requires Security Update 2009-002, so naturally it would not see or install Safari without that update being installed first. While I don't necessarily mind installing updates manually (downloading them individually off Apple's support site and then installing by hand), I really prefer using Software Update to better automate the process. Up until now I have never had any problems with Software Update, but this problem is certainly aggravating. My primary concern is that I have no idea what updates are necessary and what updates are not necessary to ensure proper and relatively secure operation of my system, and I have no way of knowing whether or not Software Update will see any future updates (provided that Apple continues to support Tiger for a little while longer). If Software Update is missing crucial updates out of the gate, how can I be sure that it will see any further crucial updates that may hopefully be released?
I know that's part question / part rant, but I've been wracking my brain for the past few days over this one. Any information that could help solve this problem will definitely be appreciated, especially since my B&W is my preferred browsing machine.
Incidentally, my iBook, a Clamshell FW SE, is currently running the same setup that my B&W was previously running.. 10.4.11 with Quicktime 7.6.4, iTunes 8.2.1, and Safari 4.0.3, so as far as I can tell, this shouldn't be hardware related (my iBook is far less powerful than my B&W currently is). Also, a cursory glance at the Installed Updates list on my iBook definitely shows that my Software Update on my B&W is missing many updates.

I reformatted the drive first and did a clean install. I'm currently in the process of downloading the standalone installers for Safari 4.0.3 and iTunes 8.2.1. It's looking like that's the solution at present, but I'm still curious as to why Software Update won't see any iTunes or Safari updates within the current system configuration's capabilities (speaking to both apps possibly being cumulative). I can't see Software Update simply not having those updates because there is newer version out, if indeed they are cumulative, since that would mean that anyone reinstalling or upgrading on an older machine would be forced to perform some of the updates manually where not too long ago they would have been able to simply use Software Update as a "one stop" solution.
Oh well, maybe I'm just being too picky . I've had to deal with running around in circles to find software updates for manual installs for years with Windows systems, and Apple's "one stop" Software Update system was a wonderful, welcome change to that.

  • Missing Component in Dreamweaver Trial Install?

I was hoping someone could shed some light on an issue I am having with a Dreamweaver trial I am evaluating.  I downloaded and installed CS4 trial the other day with no issues.  Then my computer crashed and windows automatically did a restore.  When my computer came back up, Dreamweaver was not there as I probably had not rebooted since I was initially trying it.  Now, I download the trial again and get some sort of "missing component" and Dreamweaver doesnt install fully and therefore doesnt work.  Thoughts?

Unless the uninstall option appears in the installed programs list, you may possibly have to delete the program manually, run the cs4 clean-up script then reinstall Dreamweaver, as your reg entries etc will be corrupted for the installation.

  • Missing component to access (read) a PDF file Adobe reader 8

When I try to open a PDF file it says there are some missing components to complete the operation and it sends me to the Adobe Web page (Adobe Acrobat plug in Finder) I already asked to the author of the file and followed his installation instructions but the problem remains. If I try to open it in some other computer the error message specifies the component filter/MBAS:ash is missing.

I am getting the same message, "Filter/MBAS:Ash:", that you posted on Adobeforums.com. Did you find out where to get the missing component? If so, I would appreciate your help.

  • "Missing component" messages in the installation logs

I installed Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 on Windows, and I found some strange entries in the installActionsxxxxx.log files:
"# Not all the dependencies for the component Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.0.0 could be found. Missing component oracle.bc4j 10.1.2.0.0.
    # Not all the dependencies for the component Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.0.0 could be found. Missing component oracle.bc4j.oem 10.1.2.0.0.
    # Not all the dependencies for the component Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.0.0 could be found. Missing component oracle.soap.srv 2.2.0.0.2a.
    # Not all the dependencies for the component Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.0.0 could be found. Missing component oracle.apache.ojsp 10.1.2.0.0.
    # Not all the dependencies for the component Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.0.0 could be found. Missing component oracle.apache.ejb 9.0.1.0.1."...
This goes on for several pages. I still had the Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 installation packages on my computer, and I found out that several of the missing packages actually belong to 10.1.2, and several of them are earlier than 10.1.2.
My questions: is it a problem at all that these components are missing, or shall I ignore these log entries? If this is a problem, how to fix it?
    Best Regards,
    Gabor

    Hi Gabor,
You can ignor these log entries. (There is a bug logged. The installer team is looking for a good way to surpress these messages.)

  • Has anyone had issues with the latest i-tunes update 11.1.4 on Windows Vista

I downloaded the update on 24th Jan, and when I tried to open i-tunes after that it failed to start and the message was MSVCR80.dll and the window suggested that I remove and re-install i-tunes.
I did this and then my CD/DVD drive was not recognised. I then decided to go for a system restore prior to the update. When I did this i-tunes worked again but a window opens every 30seconds saying 'Mobile device helper is not working'  At one point I had 116 windows open. Has anyone else had this problem or can offer any advice please? I have an i-pod classic and my system is windows vista which is approx 8yrs old. I have never had any problem with i-tunes updates before.

Try using these directions on this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926 or http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
This resolved my issue with the new update on Vista.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

  • Because of missing component (MSVCR80.dll). What to do?

Have had itunes on computer for several months.  Tried to install latest version. Installer indicated was successful.  Attempted to open and received error message that itunes would not open because of missing component (MSVCR80.dll).  What do I need to do and how?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
