I-tunes upgrade crashes

Lately all i-tunes upgrades have crashed on Windows 7 and disabled the older version. It usually takes weeks for Apple to fix the problem. Is there a simple way around this issue, short of not upgrading till months after the new release?

when i try to add my windows 7 pc to i tunes match, it causes i tunes to crash.  I know someone else has had this problem, please tell me how to fix it. I do have the latest version of i tunes software too.

You can authorise your account via the Store drop-down menu at the top of the iTunes screen - if you have iTunes11 then control-B should get the menus to show.

  • I have just tried to upgrade to the latest version of itunes, and my ipad was connected to my computer at the time. The upgrade crashed part way through. I now cannot start itunes as it says MSVCR80.dll is missing. Anyone got any ideas?

I was upgrading to the latest version of itunes, and my new ipad mini was connected to my computer at the same time, try to sync for the first time. The upgrade crashed part way through, and now itunes won't load and I get an error message saying MSVCR80.dll is missing. How do I do about reinstalling this file?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • My Mavericks upgrade crashed my hard drive and I had to reinstall Mountain Lion.  Now I cannot get any of the apps that I purchased to download.  The icons on the launchpad just say "waiting" no matter what I try.

My Mavericks upgrade crashed my hard drive and I had to reinstall Mountain Lion.  Now I cannot get any of the apps that I purchased to download.  The icons on the launchpad just say "waiting" no matter what I try.  My app store ID is fine.  What do I do?

Are you now using a different username from the one you used prior to migrating? If so that is the reason for the problem. You might, then, give this a try:
    To fix Home folder permissions
Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder.  At the command line prompt enter or paste the following command line:
    sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` ~
Press RETURN.  You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.

  • I tunes is crashing

I-Tunes begin crashing.  I uninstalled and reinstalled and while I reinstalled, it asked me if I my start-up was authorized,  I clicked retry and nothing happened.  I clicked ignore, it finished downloading, started up and then crashed again.  What's up?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • Firmware upgrade crash

I've recently acquired my first BB, a Curve 9320 and when I linked it to the Desktop Software was enticed into carrying out a firmware upgrade from v7.1 bundle 1319 to v7.1 bundle 2039
After automatically running another backup, the upgrade crashed and bricked the device, which has had to be replaced under warranty. The replacement has the original firmware version on it!
Should I be tempted to try the upgrade again, or play it safe and keep what I've got?

    Hey Sawbones,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
I would suggest doing the update from a PC using the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, let me know if you need any assistance.
    Thanks.

  • My songs are missing , looks like a I tunes upgrade

My Songs are missing, I have a grey screen that has just an apple picture and can go to the store. I did click do not download when the upgrade box appeared.

    Reboot, repair/reinstall iTunes.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • How can I "un-do" the newest I-Tunes upgrade?

How can I "un-do" the newest I-Tunes upgrade?

You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar. (Cmd on Mac)
Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar.
Ctrl-/ to tunn on the status bar.
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the previous search behaviour.
You can also open the menu bar temporarily by pressing Alt (Windows, not sure of the Mac equivalent).
To roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.
To protect against the unexpected in future backup your iTunes library (and other personal data).

  • Unrecognized DVD/CD drive after I-tunes upgrade to ver 7.6.2.9

I have a problem since I upgraded I-tunes to latest version 7.6.2.9. My PC no longer recognizes my DVD/CD Rom. I have deleted my Upper and Lower filters in the registry, then reboot my CD-Rom is back. I open I-tunes and the program does not see my CD drive. I reinstall i-tunes my CD-Rom disappears. Can anyone HELP ?

From what I understand, the problem is that iTunes is writing a registry entry that doesn't belong in Windows (the UpperFilters/LowerFilters entries). Once you delete these you should only have to deal with the missing drive with iTunes. WMP can still see it as a rule so any CD's you want to rip can be done that way to .wav, .mp3 or the .wma formats. If you want to use iTunes for listening to CD the dump your dell for a Mac. Unfortunately neither Apple nor Microsoft want to give on this issue which has existed since iTunes 7.5 based on personal experience.

  • I Tunes 8 crashes Vista 64 bit in sleep mode

I just bought a brand new Dell desktop with Vista 64 bit and installed the 64 bit version of I Tunes 8. The program opened, but I was not yet ready to migrate my files to the new PC so I closed the program and left for a while. When I returned and attempted to wake the computer from sleep mode, the monitor started displaying nothing but a pinstripe pattern and the system was frozen, requiring a hard reboot. A second occurrence convinced me to uninstall and do a system restore. Sleep mode then operated properly again. A new install of IT8 produced the same freeze. The program doesn't have to be open when the system goes into sleep mode to cause the crash. I have not even connected my dock to the PC yet. I have over 22,000 songs on my old PC and am very concerned about bringing them over. Is it possible to obtain a workable version of I Tunes 7 for 64 bit? Any help will be appreciated.

The problem turned out to be related to the ATI video card. Downloading the latest diver fixed it.

  • Safari 5.0.2 with OS X 10.6.5 upgrade crashes frequently

Upgraded my MBP to OS X 10.6.5 yesterday and since then, Safari browser has been crashing repeatedly. I've tried to disable individually the Adblock and ClickToFlash extensions, but the only way I was able to solve was disabling ALL the extensions.
Before the upgrade (10.6.4), everything was working flawlessly.
Is anyone suffering from the same problem?

  • I-Tunes upgrade failed and has given me errors.

Yesterday I attempted to upgrade I-tunes when prompted however the upgrade was unsuccessful and has caused errors.  Today when I booted up my computer I got runtime errors and was unable to open I-tunes as a .dll file was missing.  The error message recommended downloading i-tunes again so a uninstalled I-Tunes and then tried to download again but I get this message.  "Service "Apple Mobile Device" (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"  If I ignore the message it just keeps coming back to I have to Abort.  I now have no I-tunes.  Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello there, klittee.
In some cases it's necessary to remove all traces of iTunes software. This has to be performed in a very specific fashion. The following Knowledge Base article outlines those steps:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
If the issue persists, this article provides some additional steps to try:
