I tunes will not open

I just purchased the new pink track Sober. When i plugged my ipod in it would not go to the sync page and then my monitor shut off and the ethernet card light went off.I had to unplug my computer to get it back on.When i plug the ipod in it just starts charging but won't oopen i tunes. When i open i tunes the same thing happens. Also my track is not in my library but it is in my purchased playlist and it plays.when i dragged it to my library it won't appear and it has a lock on it.Help.I have 900 albums on my i pod and i do not want to have to re rip all that music.

Have you tried resetting your iPod? (Holding center button and the menu button down at the same time) and then seeing if iTunes recognizes it?
If that doesn't work, your computer may have lost the drivers for your iPod, that's what happened to me a while ago. If that's the case, completely uninstall iTunes. (It should offer you an option to preserve the files.)
After that, re-install iTunes.
That should do the Job, and if it doesn't it is possible that your iPod may have been corrupted. Try manually forcing it into disk mode by holding center button and the play/pause button, and then try to sync it again. Immediately after you get iTunes to recognize your iPod, restore it by going to your iPod under "Devices".
I hope that helps you!

My I tunes will not open and I've tried removing it in the order:
    I Tunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
I then rebooted my pc, reinstalled I Tunes (latest version 64 bit), ran as Administrator.
Still nothing, no message, no nothing, it will just not open.
I'm running windows 7 and I Tunes has run on this computer perfectly well until 3 - 4 weeks ago.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • I-tunes will not open-have tried solutions from other posts

    Hello all
My i-tunes 6 will not open on my computer. A few times at one point it flashed the user agreement and then died. It does appear in my windows task manager but only for a few seconds. I know some peopple have suggested a malware problem. I have been working with my brother, who makes a lving fixing other people's computers, and we cannot seem to isolate the malicious program causing the problem. There is an application in the msconfig utility that is called "qxjj" that will not delete. We believe this is the problem. I was wondering if anyone had encountered this particular program before and if they knew how to get rid of it. Ewido, spybot and microsoft anti-spyware have not appeared to get rid of it. Any help would be appreciated.

gaah. i think you and your brother have correctly diagnosed the problem.
there's a Qoologic variant that has been causing "error-less" itunes launch failure since late October. it's associated with the "license screen flash" symptom. it also drops randomly-generated-4-and-6-letter-name startup items in people's PCs.
Ewido and AdAware have typically been getting rid of it for people, so it's a bit disturbing that they aren't touching it in your case. however, we also have a "manual" removal technique that has been working for people. let's see if Dave's technique works for you:

  • TS1717 I-tunes will not open even in safe mode on windows 7 32bit. A reload does not work either.

I-tunes stopped working on my Windows 7 32 bit computer. It will not open in safe mode or anything else. I even tried reinstalling and still nothing.

You're unlikely to get a reply. It's pretty much unused as far as I'm aware. You need to get a crash id outside of firefox for me to help. Press Start key + R and a dialog should open. in the textbox type %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted\
Now, open a few of the files and copy the code from each of them to this thread. I will then research your bug with the help of the Mozilla Crash Reporter.

  • I tunes will not open states serious error

Itunes will not open. States serious error. Have removed program and reinstalled with the same error being stated. What can be done to make this prpgram operational on my pc?

For your QuickTime resintall problem, here's what worked for other users; perhaps it will work for you (I've never had this problem so I can't say for sure):
    1) Uninstall QuickTime from the Add/Remove Programs control panel. If you have difficulties, try Microsoft's Installer Cleanup Utility.
    2) Clean up the Windows registry with http://www.ccleaner.com/ (freeware)
    3) Restart your system.
    4) Delete the QuickTime folder
    5) Reinstall QT from the standalone installer.
    Hope this helps.

  • I-tunes will not open after update to 11.1.1

After updating to iTunes 11.1.1, it will not open. I've tried a few ways (from finder, from tool bar) and it just does a quick flash and then nothing, no error message, nothing. I am running OS X v 10.6.8 on a Macbook. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Cchoe,
I see that you are experiencing an issue with iTunes after an update. It sounds like this issue could be related to third-party software interactions with iTunes. Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot:

itunes will not open on my iphone 4s. it starts up for 2 seconds then returns to the home screen. do i need to restore my iphone?

    Hi there cazalazu,
You may want to try force closing all open apps and resetting the device as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

  • I tunes will not open - have read ALOT but still can't get it going

How much is Apple losong out to what appears to be a fairly common but complicated problem. Not sure if it all started the day I upgraded to i-tunes 9 or when I renewed my Norton Anti Virus. It was working for months even when I had Norton which i have since removed using the Norton Removal Tool. When I first click on it it tries to open and I get a message saying that my Quick Time software is outdated but BEFORE I can click on that another box opens over top that says "i-tunes has stopped working" "a problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close he problem and notify you if a solution is found"
If i try again , nothing happens at all. When I go to processes I can see where it appears briefly maybe 2-3 seconds then disappears.
    I have tried:
Making another user account and opening I-tunes
    Removing my Norton anti virus
Uninstalling and re-installing i-tunes and quick time both together and separately....many many times
    restoring previous version of i-tunes
I get the same message if i try to open just quicktime.
My i -tunes library itself will also not open.
Please tell me where to go from here
I am running a newer (3 months old) HP with Windows 7 64 bit
    IDEAS???
    Rob.

Excellent news, Rob! Glad you're up and running again.
Any idea as to how it got this way? I am thinking of re-installing my Norton since it has worked well for me for the last few years and I an not exactly sure if that was the problem or if was a Windows 7 thing?
I reckon Norton and Windows 7 were innocent parties here. Some other application dumped a couple of boatloads of QuickTime componentry in your sysWOW64. (Older versions of codec packs, video converter software, other file converter software, and media players that offer the opportunity to use quicktime files "without installing QuickTime" are the usual culprits here, but some games might do this too.) That might go unnoticed so long as that componentry matches the existing version of QuickTime software that you have installed on the PC ... but things turn to custard when you have to update your QuickTime version, and the versions of the componentry in /sysWOW64/ no longer match your "QuickTime proper". (On 32-bit systems, the same sort of thing happens, with the difference being that the "foreign" QuickTime componentry would typically be lurking down in the system32 folder.)
So, we pretty much get cases of this sort of thing showing up constantly at the forums, with a big pulse in reports happening after any QuickTime version update. (It produces a significant proportion of the "iTunes has encountered a problem" and "iTunes has stopped working" messages that we get reported here.) You were really unlucky in that you got a rarer version of the possible error messages ... so there's not as much relevant troubleshooting advice available on the web, which makes researching what could possibly be going wrong for you considerably harder than it is for folk with the more common versions of the error messages.
