I turned off imessages. but when people text me, it still goes to iMessages. help.

my mobile number is registered in imessages on my iphone. i turned off imessages from my iphone. but when my friends text me, it still goes to imessages. but i dont get the message since imessages is turned off from my side.
any thoughts?
Is your friend messaging your email or phone number
Have him delete the thread and try right to ur number

My phone started acting up and I noticed my text messages were not being sent. So I turned my iphone off. My iphone 4s turned off properly but when I went to put it back the apple icon came on and then an image I have never seen before of a UBS pointiing towards the word itunes in a circle. Thank you so much for your response. I had these photos backed up on iCloud but, had I not, its good to have an alternate solution as the one you suggested. Actually, I went to the Apple store today and yes, you are absolutely correct Restoring in iTunes will result in permanent loss of photos unless backed up somewhere such as iCloud or other solution. Well, what they did was restore the phone in itunes ( I did not have iTunes downloaded to my computer which is why it did not work when I went to do it myself, I needed to go to the iTunes site and go to the download iTunes button because my windows based HP laptop does not come with itunes already downloaded). This retoration process took a while and I was forced to upgrade to the latest 7.1 iOS software which I was not too happy about -sometimes you like the way things work now :-) Anyhow, they said this restoration request happens as a result of a software update (which I was NOT in progress of an update or doing an update) or sometimes when you remove the power cable too quickly from the iphone (which I do not recall doing this either but...). Since I had backed up on iCloud all of the photos were downloaded back on my iphone 4s. Best of all was that my phone was back up and runnning and there was NO CHARGE at the apple store for this service of restoring my phone. Well, I just wanted to share the results and I appreciate all the responses and support I received. Thank you kindly. -
I set up my newly received IPhone 4, connected to my wi-fi, then turned the connection off. I now want to turn it on and turn off bluetooth, but when I go to settings, general, none of the options respond. I touch them and nothing happens. I tried resetting the phone but that doesn't work either. If anyone can help me resolve this, I'd really appreciate it. Does Apple have a chat or live help available?
WiFi is turned ON/OFF in Settings > WiFi not Settings > General
Try Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings.

Iphone 4 music shuffle cannot be turned off. The shuffle is turned off on top of the page, shuffle on individual songs is turned off and the settings "shake to shuffle" is turned off also, but the songs keep shuffling in my album. Please Help.
The weird thing is that after I click shuffle when the random number appears, I click it to turn it off and then I click it on again and it works fine. Is this a glitch or a bug or am I doing something wrong? How do I fix this?

Why does my nano keep turning off after a few seconds while I'm listening to my music? It's fully charged and brand new.
I've tried everything in the article "Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista and Windows 7 video playback performance issues''. Here are my results.
My computer meets the requirements.
All software (Windows, iTunes and QuickTime) are up to date.
As for updating my drivers, I found nothing labeled 'Video'. The closest thing I found in Computer/Manage/Device Manager was to click + next to 'Display Adapters' under that I found 'Intel (R) HD Graphics Family' which I right-cicked. From the menu, instead of 'Properties', I selected 'Update Driver Software...', then I selected 'Search Automatically for updated driver software'. I saw the messages "Searching for Software... Searching online for Software... The best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date." I got these same messages when I searched for updated audio drivers.
My computer is already at the highest display resolution. (1366 x 768 recommended) That's as high as my resolution will go. Hmm, I noticed the article's example shows '(1920 x1080 recommended)'. Is my max 1366 x 768 resolution high enough?
As for QuickTime, deselecting 'Enable Direct3D video acceleration' had no effect. Disabling the DirectX entirely (Safe mode (GDI only)) allowed the audio to play, but there was no video, only a black screen.
As for turning on DMA, the only item under 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers' is 'Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller' So I right-clicked, selected 'Properties'. There's no 'Advanced Settings' tab in there. The tabs are 'General, Drivers, Details, Resources' no 'Advanced Settings' anywhere. So much for that.
'Readyboost' was already set at 'Do not use'.
No 'NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA (SATA) controllers' exist in my computer.
The problem still exists. Please help. -
Is there a way to turn off iMessage for a group text that includes multiple people with different non-apple devices? When a message is sent, only the iPhone users can see the iMessage. Those without them cannot see the texts unless we send individual Text Messages or turn off iMessage completely.

I'd like imessages to show as texts on bill.
As mentioned...the only way to do it would be to turn off iMessage. Otherwise, it isn't a SMS text that VZW can charge you for (or deduct from your texting plan) so it will not show on your bill. If you're wanting to do this in order to monitor someone else's iMessage usage I don't think there is a way to do so...iMessage isn't an option in the restrictions menu so I don't think you could even get your hands on the other device and put the restriction on it if you wanted to shut off the iMessage capability so they could only send text messages (if they had the code to change restrictions then that wouldn't work anyway because they could go back and change it). No idea if there is or ever will be a iMessage tracking app but that may be your only hope...

i am having a hard time recieving text messages from iphone users on my android device even after deactivating my old iphone and imessages. i dont know what else to do, apple is no help and want to charge me for assitance?!?!?!

1. Remove the contact card
2. Then turn off iMessage and then back on again
3. Go to Messages and compose a new message
4. Press +. This will make a list of recent contacts pop up.
5. Click on the info button number of the contact you are trying to reach.
6. Remove from Recents
7. Try to compose another message
8. If the message attempts to send as blue (imessage), press on the message.
9 Option to send as SMS will appear (as long as they have SMS turned on.
10. Repeat and rinse.
11. Messages will start changing over to all SMS as the user will show as non-imessage user.

I can't turn off iMessage! I'm losing messages people send me via iMessage!
I have an iPhone 4 with iMessage enabled.
But now I'm using my SIM card in an HTC phone. The problem is people with iPhone still see me as being on iMessage and when they text me, the text is sent via (blue) iMessage and not (green) SMS. So now on my HTC phone I can not receive any messages from iPhone users!

I understand the difference between imessage and SMS but when I text a friend who used to receive imessages (blue), my phone shows I'm sending her SMS (green) messages. No longer are they blue. She has an iphone and this happens when we are both connected to wifi. We have both recently updated to ios7. Thanks!

Can I turn off iMessage for individuals who use the iPhone and IOS 5 but do not have their iMessage setting on? I want to group text with two other people. They both have IOS 5, but one does not use iMessage. She can't recieve the group text unless I turn my iMessage off for everyone. Is it possible to turn off iMessage for one individual for a group text?

Okay so my friend just recently got the iphone 4 and I have the iphone 5. When she texts me its imessage, but when i text her it is a normal sms message.. I think ive tried everything at both ends... Any suggestions????? its driving me crazy
It is no wonder she is not receiving your messages if she has iMessage turned off in her iPad.
For her to receive iMessages on the iPad, she needs to turn iMessage ON in her iPad and then she needs to be connected to the internet in order to receive them. This connection can go through WiFi or through cellular data if her iPad has this functionality, but those two requirements are a must.
