I understand that a XSL transformation is faster than JSP

Hi all
let's say the datasource solution provides data ,
I'm under the impression that you can make the XSL loop through the information do various logic on the data and represent the data much faster than can be accomplished with JSP
Is there anyone else out there that understands the same ?
stev

I tend to doubt it. The XSL is interpreted (well, usually) where as the JSP is compiled. Sure, you can write really bad JSP code that underperforms really good transforms, but I'd tend to believe that in general it would be faster than XSL.
That said, XSL can provide for greater flexibility than JSP rendering and that may be easily worth any small performance penalty it may have.

  • Automatically Sync clock so that it is 5 minutes faster than actual time.

    Is there a way to have Leopard Automatically sync the time AND have it be 5 minutes faster than the actual time?
    I have all my clocks set 5 minutes fast and would like to have my Leopard (10.5.6) clocks automatically sync and be 5 minutes fast without me always having to check and make sure the time has not slipped to far behind or gotten more than "Actual Time" + 5 minutes fast.

    There may be some 3rd party software, but if your other clocks are not synched, but running ahead, then why not simply unsynch the Leopard clock and set it manually as you are most likely doing with all your other clocks?

  • Is it true that the white iPhone breaks faster than the black?

    Curious , I want the white one , but then I'm hearing then the black doesn't break as easy .

    I don't think anyone can say for sure... there are slight differences in how they manufacture the glass for the white color vs black... but in my opinion there is NO difference onhow easily they'd break.
    There are also some great warranty's that cover damage and even liquid spills and full immersion you could purchase for pretty cheap that can ease your mind...

  • Is Servlet faster than JSP?

    I known finally JSP was compiled to Sevlet.
    But I concern about performance issue.
    Now I writing web-app in pure JSP (Not have any servlet).
    If I rewrite my code by move business logic to Servlet
    and left presentation in JSP.
    My web-app will be faster?
    rgs
    Thx,

    would it make any difference.. as you have said jsp's
    are compiled as servlets.. so what you are running
    are servlet.. now for the business logis.. its either
    to put it on servlet or class files to make it more
    secure and to have reusabilityreusablity - yes, but secure?
    Jsps will be slow on first time access because they'll have to be converted to servlets and then compiled. On subsequent access, you'll not find any differefernce between using a jsp or a servlet. You can however precompile jsps to overcome this limitation.
    Moving the business logic elsewhere will improve your code readability, configurability and maintenance - it wont make it any faster though.

  • Strange AIR performance; == faster than ===

    Hi.
    I have been hunting down some strange memory usage in one of our games, and tracked it down to numbers being compared to 0.0 in a loop.
    I have concentrated the observations down to a small profile snippet.
    Observations:
    1) I expected the first two profiles to take the same amount of time as everything is typed. But comparing a Number that is a natural is a LOT faster. (only true on desktop and android).
    Why is this, is the jitted versions storing Numbers that are natural (whole numbers) as integers, and thus causing a log of type conversion (and memory allocations)?
    2) I have been told (and experienced on iOS) that using the === operator is faster than == when a type coercion is possible, test 1+2 vs. 3+4 shows that this is not always the case on some of the platforms.
    Is this normal? have I messed up something when building my air apps? If this is reproducible, can somebody with better knowledge of the internals of the AIR runtime explain when it's better to use === over == (for performance).

  • Why is Firefox Developer more stable and faster than regular Firefox?

    So, I've have some great experiences with regular Firefox. It works great, nice themes, good plugins, security etc., but there's one thing that bothers me of Firefox on EVERY computer on EVERY operating system. Whenever I install Firefox, it is already slow, it stutters sometimes and sometimes it freezes. And it's not only my problem, many of my friends and classmates are using Chrome at this moment, because they complain about speed of Firefox. Now, for me that's not problem, I'm not patient person, but surely it is browser that will protect my privacy as opposed to Chrome.
    Recently, somewhere, I saw download link saying something like "Mozilla Developer, for people like you", or something alike, I installed it and man, that browser is like 10x faster than regular Firefox AND Chrome AND Safari, I mean, this speed is outrageous! It's great, no sarcasm!
    I don't get it, why is regular Firefox so slow and Firefox Developer so frickin' fast? Why? Can you maybe base your next Firefox update to Firefox Developer?
    Sincerely Mozilla Firefox Developer lover. *muah*

    @Tyler Downer Oke, good to hear it's next release of Firefox. But my profile isn't full, I don't really log in, totally fresh install of Firefox are mostly really sluggish. Mozilla really outdid themselves in speed and stability!! Great! A++ Mozilla!

  • Is JSP faster than ASP?

    I want to know whether JSP Runtime Environment is faster than ASP. It will be very helpfull if i get any benchmark reports. AuRevoir!

    id suggest you do it yourself, no-one is going to write up this sort of stuff without you paying for it
    in any case i'd dare to suggest that asp would be faster than jsp ( running on different servers no doubt; but given both windows os's ) because asp is basically vbscript which i imagine would be faster for the server to compile given a win box than jsp -> jvm -> server -> client ( if thats even how it works. ).
    my opinion...

  • Why does audio run faster than video after burning my iMovie project in iDVD?

    I created a project in iMovie HD and shared it to iDVD 6. When I played the finished disc, I noticed that the audio ran much faster than the video. I rechecked my movie and audio clips in iMovie to make sure they were matched correctly, and I saw no problem there. I burned the disc again through iDVD and got the same problem when I played it in a DVD player.
    I have never had this problem before and I've been working on dvd projects all week. I think the only difference with this movie project is that I had movie clip audio and background audio playing at the same time at some parts of the movie, but I don't know if that's the issue.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi
    And just to add to OT-s brilliant suggestions - really - Do a Save as a DiskImage ! IMPORTANT !
    • When free space goes down on the Start-Up hard disk to 5Gb or less - strange things occurs - Yes even audio out of sync - to not working DVD at all.
    I secure a minimum of 25Gb free space when using SD-video to iDVD - if HD material I would guess 4-5 times more as it has to be re-calculated into SD and this needs space.
    DVD - is as standard SD-Video (as old time CRT-TVs) - even if You use DVD-Studio Pro or iDVD or Roxio Toast™ - That's what it is and using HD material doesn't improve a bit (may be even give a lesser result)

  • Is LabWindows/CVI running faster than LabView?

    A colleague told me that LabWindows/CVI is much faster than LabView. And I make a mistake if I would go on using LabView. So he tried to convince me of LabWindows/CVI. What are your experiences? Which program is faster: LabWindows/CVI or LabView?
    mara

    It all depends on what you're doing. I've used both (LabWindows since v1 and LabVIEW since v3), and in my instrument control and daq applications, I don't see any. I think LabVIEW is faster to develop in and that's the main advantage for me. NI has a benchmark here if that helps at all. Either LabVIEW or LabWindows is a good choice. If you're an experienced C programmer, you might be better off sticking with the more familar CVI but if you're not, LabVIEW should work just fine.

  • Downloading faster than restoring :S

    Hi there again,
    I just figured out that I'm actually downloading faster than restoring up :s
    Picture this:
    I have a internet connection of 20mbit, my average download speed is around 19mbps I can download around 6/7Gb a hour.
    At the moment I'm restoring a map with high-res RAW images (16MB each). the map is 5,5Gb large and the estimating time is 4 hours.. This means that the restore speed is around 13mbit / h. How is this possible?
    And the fun part: I can download while I'm restoring and it doesn't effect my download/restore speed???? Connected with a wire to timecapsule 500gb.
    Hope someone can clear me out.. I can't figure it out...

    Mac's can be faster than PC's and PC's can be faster than Mac's.
    It all depends upon the processors, graphics capability and other factors, age of each machine, data on the  drive, etc.
    If you put Windows and OS X on the very same type hardware, freshly installed on each hard drive, everything matches. Likely OS X would be a hair slower than Windows.
    It's because OS X renders the UI with a finer degree of detail.
    However when it comes to hardware, PC's outstrip Mac's in that department not mainly in the processors, which they both share the same Intel ones (Mac's sometimes gets theirs before PC users) but rather the video card upgrade choices and tweaking ability Windows towers users enjoy and Mac owners do not.
    http://www.cbscores.com/index.php?sort=ogl&order=desc
    So if your considering a 3D gaming machine, your choices are simply a Win 7 tower.
    Generic PC's also have another advantage, one can replace Windows with the lighter Linux, I've done that with HP XP netbooks that were going for a song, slapped Linux on them and they make great portable use machines for the basics. I even use a UI that looks like OS X so I feel at home.

  • Error in generating a new XSL Transformer from large xslt File

    Good day to all,
    Currently I am facing a problem that whenever i try generating a Transformer object from TransformerFactory, I will have a TransformerConfigurationException threw. I have did some research from the net and understand that it is due to a bug that JVM memory limit of 64kb. However is there any external package or project that has already addressed to this problem? I have checked apache but they already patch the problem in Xalan 2.7.1. However I couldn't find any release of 2.7.1
    Please help
    Regards
    RollinMao

    If you have the transformation rules in a separate XSLT file, then, you can use com.icl.saxon package to get XML files transformed. I have used this package with large XSL files and has worked well.

  • Error: "... is not a table ..." XML not correctly interpreted after XSL-transformation. Table row quantity problem.

    Hey guys, this is one of my xml-elements:
    Jaspreet Sohi 12 18 Juliane Lenz 11 17 Sophie Charlotte Stender 10 15 Rosbeh Hamidzadeh Khayyat 12 17 Lion Stoldt 12 17 Mats Lucas Meincke 6 8 Bero Luke Vincent Ernst 6 8 Cedric Roth 6 8 Soner Cantay 6 8 The following XSL Transformation I use once for transforming all "m" tags and once in order to transform all "j" tags. Please imagine the CSL-code below to be duplicated exactly. Only the "jungs"-table-Tag is replaced by "mädchen" and all underscores _j are replace by _m. As well all "select="j[@..." parts are replaced by "select="m[@...". 1 2 3 The code is very easygoing I think and not difficult to understand. As I said, I use it twice - for both transformations. The very, extremely weird thing, my problem, is that one transformation works perfectly in InDesign and a table is created for all "kategorie"-tags (all is set within a for-each loop). But the second script does not work! I simply do not get this I can't understand it. I've tried more than anything. InDesign sais (in German, so translated based on assumption) "jungs is an invalid table element or is displayed in wrong order". The second strange thing is that I can replace my "aid:trows" attribute by any number, e.g. "10" and immediately the script works fine (as there are never more than 6 "j" tags in my XML so that never the table has more than 6 rows"). But it does not want to work correctly with the actual number, my variable "rows_j". These are my variables: They are all defined before the tables for m and j are created. So finally, why (the heck) is one table created and interpreted perfectly whereas the second - immediately following the first in the XSL.script as an EXACT copy of the first - results in an error? As i've already said, I've tried really everything. For example the script works also when one of the parts "" is randomly deleted from the script. Removing one of these parts directly makes the script working. Just one of my attempts to understand the thing but this has only shown that none of these parts "cell to end-for-each" includes an error. I'm really desperate and looking forward to being rescued by one of you geniuses :)

    Hah, No worries. The forum software is, well, different.
    What would be better, though, would be a sample ID file, any XSLT/XLT files you use, and a bit of data exactly as you have it (pre-transform state). ZIP it up, upload to say dropbox.com and feel free to send me a private message for the download link.
    Too many times there is something different between samples pasted into a post and the real thing that it is sometimes less useful time-wise. I'll keep it private, of course. Then we can communicate via PMs or email until we can (hopefully) arrive together at a solution, then post what that solution is in the forum to benefit others.
    Thank you, Mike

  • XSL transformation in OSB

    Hi all,
    I am new to OSB. I am having trouble to understand how to do XSL transformation in OSB.
    I have created a business service which targets wsdl with a particular schema for the input message. I have created a separate wsdl for the proxy service with another schema the input message.
    I have to invoke the business service from proxy service. For this, I have added a route node and then a routing activity. In the request line of the routing activity i have used an assign where i will use XSLT to map input message of the proxy wsdl to the input message of the business service.
    How do we access other variables when creating an XSLT?
    Is my approach to the problem correct?
    John

    Hi,
    I am doing that in an replace action.
    In my flow I have the proxy service, then a pipeline, then I have the route.
    In the pipeline I have replaced the input request using a XQuery transformation. When I test it, I see the input is coming till the route.
    But the same pay load is valid and workin if I pass it when I invoke the route service independently. when i use it in the flow its not working.
    Simply it says the system error

    Is there any place where I can refer how to work with passing data from current flow to the next flow.
    Do i need to do the transformation before invoking the route, or inside the route service request pipeline?
    Do I need to change the method, URI etc as wells? before invoking the routing?

  • XSL transformation with xsl:import generates exceptions

    I am using the Schematron's basic XSL file basic-schematron.xsl to validate the XML format of one of our data files. The XSL file looks something like this
    ================
    <xsl:stylesheet
    version="1.0"
    xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
    xmlns:axsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/TransformAlias">
    <xsl:import href="skeleton1-5.xsl"/>
    <xsl:template name="process-prolog">
    <axsl:output method="text" />
    </xsl:template>
    ==================
    But, the validation fails while trying to run the transformation on my Schematron input file using this basic-schematron.xsl with java.lang.NoSuchMethodError:

    ============= OUTPUT ==============
    I tried the individual JAXP 1.3 for J2SDK 1.4.2 (Using the -Djava.endorsed.dirs JVM param) and tried the JDK 1.5.0_02 which has JAXP 1.3 inbuilt and they all fail.
    I tried the above with separate Xalan/Xerces jar files, and then it works fine.
    The problem seems to be somthing specific to the JAXP 1.3 environment. I can provide more details, if required. Any help is highly appreciated.

    One morning your code woke up and found it had been transformed into a giant insect.
    But seriously, here's the name of the method that doesn't exist:GregorSamsa.process$dash$rootIs GregorSamsa your class? Maybe your server has an old version of it which is missing that method? (Or: those $ signs look strange to me, maybe they are a mistranslation of some other character?)

  • XSL Transformation between arrays

    Dear all
    I create to XSD for my variables:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:ns="http://www.asre-andishe.com/Inspec/General"
    targetNamespace="http://www.asre-andishe.com/Inspec/General"
    elementFormDefault="qualified">
    <xsd:complexType name="AgentArrayType">
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="Agent" type="ns:AgentType" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:complexType name="AgentType">
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="user" type="xsd:string"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:element name="Agent" type="ns:AgentType"></xsd:element>
    <xsd:element name="AgentsArray" type="ns:AgentArrayType"></xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    and the other one:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:ns="http://www.asre-andishe.com/Inspec/DetermineInspec/retrive/relam"
    targetNamespace="http://www.asre-andishe.com/Inspec/DetermineInspec/retrive/relam"
    elementFormDefault="qualified">
    <xsd:complexType name="RelamAgentType">
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="user" type="xsd:string" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:element name="RelamAgents" type="ns:RelamAgentType"></xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    I create two empty variable and then initialized the second variable
    <RelamAgents>
    <user>john</user>
    <user>david</user>
    <user>jack</user>
    </RelamAgents>
    after that i use a transformation XSL and the second variable has been filled without no problem.
    <AgentsArray>
    <ns0:Agent>
    <ns0:user>john</ns0:user>
    </ns0:Agent>
    <ns0:Agent>
    <ns0:user>david</ns0:user>
    </ns0:Agent>
    <ns0:Agent>
    <ns0:user>jack</ns0:user>
    </ns0:Agent>
    </AgentsArray>
    but when i fill the first variable by receiving the output parameter from a service call, the XSL transformation did not work at all and the second variable remains empty.
    I have checked the first variable and i am sure that it is not null and it has the same vale:
    <RelamAgents>
    <user>john</user>
    <user>david</user>
    <user>jack</user>
    </RelamAgents>
    Would anybody please help me with this problem?
    Thank you very much

    Hi,
    receiving the output parameter from a service call, the XSL transformation did not workNamespaces... Check the namespaces the service call is using and see if they match with the XSL is expecting...
    Cheers,
    Vlad
