I uninstalled flash player and can't reinstall

I was having issues playing streaming videos, and decided to uninstall and reinstall flash player. I am running XP SP3, so I used the add/remove programs and uninstalled it. Now I cannot re-install. I have gone to the adobe site (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) and selected to install the player via Firefox, but it failed and suggested manual installation. Selecting that link puts me on the adobe site, but selecting the download button sends me to an advertising page for other adobe products and no download occurs. I ran internet explorer to see if I could download the file and Firefox recognize it, but while it shows "Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX" in the installed program list, Firefox knows no difference. Any suggestions?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • Unistalled flash player and can't re-install

    Hi
I have a Dell Computer, with Windows 7 and use Firefox and IE.  I had flash player installed on firefox but could not get it installed on IE so I followed directions that said I would need to unistall flash player and then install it on IE.  I probably misunderstood the directions. However, that is what I did.  Now I cannot install flash player on IE or firefox.  I gave up with IE, it doesn't even attempt to download the install.  With firefox I get to the point where I accept the terms and click install.  The instruction box then tells me that I need to completely quit firefox to install flash player. I've closed as many screens as I can, but if I quit close all open firefox screens there is nothing on my computer to continue the install.
I'm not computer savy at all.  Can anyone help me figure out what I did wrong and get flash play on firefox or IE?

Hi, You can download and SAVE the IE Installer to your Desktop:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html    Use the Windows/Internet Explorer/EXE Installer
Then Close all browser Windows, you only want to be looking at your Desktop. If you have any messenger services running in the system tray, disable them.(area near the clock).
Run the Installer and when it is finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
    Then test here:  http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
You should be able to see the Flash logo animate(spin) and the version of FP will be displayed also.
    Thanks,

  • I need an install for Mac OS X10.5.8 adobe flash player and can't find it as I uninstalled my original one

I uninstalled adobe flash player from my Mac Leopard OS X 10.5.8 and need  to get a new version but it asks for the 10.6 before installing and apple won't accept it or the installation is not complete.  Now I have no adobe and can't access any apps period without that and the plug-in.  The directions are too confusing.

Okay, a few comments... first, that tech at Future Shop has his numbers wrong. As of January of this year, according to my testing, Norton is actually only 73% protection against currently-active Mac malware. That's pretty darn bad, especially when you factor in the fact that Norton is well-known for causing problems. You may think Norton hasn't caused you any problems, but if you've had it installed for 15 years, you'd probably be shocked at how your machine would perform without it. It's probably a large part of the reason that you keep seeing that rainbow wheel cursor.
If Norton's log shows no malware, that doesn't mean Norton caught it, it means Norton never saw any malware to begin with. Which, since it's not so good at spotting it, doesn't really mean much.
Mac malware is rare enough that you've probably never seen any. However, note that running an outdated version of Flash is one of the dangerous things that could change that. Insecure versions of Flash were known earlier this year to be exploited by Mac malware. All you'd have to do is visit the wrong website and you'd be infected.
For this reason, regardless of what you do about anti-virus software, I strongly advise that you not install one of those outdated versions of Flash. If your computer is able to run Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), you should upgrade to that system, then update it fully (Apple menu -> Software Update). Not only is there no known malware currently capable of infecting a fully up-to-date Snow Leopard system, but you'll also be able to run a more secure version of Flash.
You can purchase Snow Leopard here:

  • How do i uninstall flash player and get lightspark to take its place?

how do i uninstall flashplayer and get lightspaerk to take its place?

From your list of plugins, it sounded as if LightSpark is already installed. Now we just need to disable the old version of Flash plugin so it doesn’t conflict with that.
What Linux distro are you using? Depending on that, the uninstallation process differs. Try one of the steps outlined on this website: http://www.ehow.com/how_6827457_uninstall-flash-player-linux.html

  • I am constantly having problems with watching video on line especially Youtube. I have played with the html5 and uninstalled flash player and reinstalled and tried all these other common solutions. My macbook pro is up to date.

I highly doubt that I need to switch to Mountain lion or any of that because I had this issue with my last macbook several years ago. This is hapening all the time and tends to occur after updating my mac. This time, nothing will fix it and I know many others having the same issues. I bought a macbook pro specifically so I did not have these issues. I can't exactly promote my business with these issues and I am so mad because of this. I feel we shouldn't have to pay to have customer support solve an issue that apple should have corrected by now.

I fixed the problem. Sorry apple for wondering if it was on your end.
    These are what helped me:

  • Macbook pro. app tries to use flash player and get " Blocked plugin" how to uninstall and reinstall flash player. update does nothing ?

Wife has an older MacBook Pro. when an app uses flash player "Blocked plugin" comes up. I don't know much about mac, tried to update flash player and get newer version already installed, and update and still get same message. How do I uninstall flash player and reinstall?

Sounds like it is blocked for the website you are at. Check with this:
You can quickly test whether a recently added plug-in is causing problems by blocking it.
Choose Safari > Preferences, click Security, then click Website Settings next to Allow Plug-ins.
Select the plug-in you want to disable on the far left, then click each pop-up menu on the right and choose Block. For some plug-ins, you see pop-up menus for different websites, and you can choose to block each one individually. Use the “When visiting other websites” pop-up menu to block all other websites that don’t have individual settings.

  • Adobe Flash Player and trackpad scrolling issue?

I downloaded Flash Player to my mbp yesterday so I could watch some YouTube vids but after the d/l and install my trackpad scrolling became slightly jittery and skipped every so often. It does it on anyhing that is internet related only (safari, app store, itunes store etc.) It got annoying so I uninstalled Flash Player and no more skipping. Does anyone know a fix to the scroll skipping when Flash Player is installed? Maybe a setting that can be changed in flash system prefs? I would like to have it installed but if it is going to continue to make my scrolling skip then I guess I'll have to try to live with the skipping or just flat out live without flash on my mbp. I downloaded it directly from www.adobe.com and it was the latest version. I'm running ML on a mid 2012. Also could be an issue with ML being so new that adobe hasn't caught up yet?

I have similar problems.  It does seem to correlate to Flash running in Safari.  Works fine with Google Chrome but Chrome isn't as fast on OSX.

  • I have finally uninstalled Flash Player !

    Hi
    My OS : Widows 7 32bits + all updates
My IE version : 10 + all updates
My Flash Player version : 11.7.700.202
I have finally uninstalled Flash Player because it slows down browsing with IE10 too much.
Each time I install Flash Player : IE10 slows down
Each time I UNinstall Flash Player becomes ligtning fast
I cannot live with that !
I uninstalled Flash Player and I will not look back until there is an adequate solution to this problem.

This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
1.)      Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
    2.)      Download the stand-alone installer from  http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/latest/help/install_flash_player_osx.dmg

  • HT2506 After updating my system to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I can no longer view videos on Facebook or other sites. The only one I can view videos on is youtube. I have downloaded Adobe Flash player and still no luck. I cannot even open Preview on my computer

After updating my system to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I can no longer view videos on Facebook or other sites. The only one I can view videos on is youtube. I have downloaded Adobe Flash player and still no luck. I cannot even open Preview on my computer anymore. Any ideas would be helpful thanks

Merely clicking the Preview icon in the Dock doesn't cause it to open anything, unless you had one or more windows open the last time it quit.
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
    1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. You may be prompted for your login password. If you get the same error after doing that, re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    2. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    3. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    4. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
