I unpluged my headphones, and now when they are out my computer is on a permeant mute.

I tried to change my output setting to internal speakers, but the setting doesn't even seem to be there.
I did some reasearch and it says that it must be something in my earphone jack.Because even when i unplug them a red light is still shining in there.
What can i do to fix it?

Try plugging and unplugging the headphones several times, and see if that turns it from digital out (red light) to analog out (no red light) Sometimes rebooting the computer with the headphones plugged in, then pulling them out will reset it. You have to consider the possibility the hard drive may be dying. If your data isn't backed up, try one of the tools below:

So i puty my Ipod in to charge a few weeks back and then the next time I went to use it I found a bunch of songs missig so I plugged it back in and found Itunes still listed but when I click on them it says it can't find them. I brought up my purchases on Itunes and it says they are on my computer and downloaded, won't let me re-download. How do I fix it? I really don't want to have to buy them all again or something. And why is this whiole thing so slow?

Why can't I get tones on my phone when they are on my computer and I've backed up and synced?

I've had tones on my phone forever !! After all the problems with the tones on the compter and that getting fixed. I downloaded the tone again, updated to 8. whatever the latest version, backed up the phone, and synced, and now no tones on my phone ! Please, I just want a tone on my phone this is stupid. The ONLY place to buy premade ringtones is from itunes store on your iphone.
What you bought on your computer is not a ringtone. It is a sound file that can be used as a ringtone. You would have to create the ringtone yourself. Google will find several ways to do this.
You can create a ringtone from most any song sound file.

Updated to 5.0 and now TV shows are out of order

I just updated to software version 5.0 and now the TV shows in the Computers section are listed non-alphabetically and not even numerically by season. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm cynical but it's all moving to the cloud - they couldn't care less anymore about local streaming so won't pay attention to things like this. They never fixed glaring backward steps in terms of content organisation of streamed content on ATV2 vs ATV1. They never ported iTunes LP and Extras which are pointless except on AppleTV.
It'll all be about tweeting what you last watched, viewing your most frequently played/bought on your MugWall, and some AI determining what you ought to rent/buy/watch next.

My Mac G4 came unplugged while running and now when I start it up all I get is a continuous reboot loop.

While sliding my Mac G4 tower out from under the desk it came unplugged. It was running at the time. After plugging it back in all I get is a continuous reboot loop. I have tried the Shift and the Command Option P R boots to no avail. What am I missing here? I have had no problems in the past with this system. I am running Panther.

Are you using an Apple keyboard or something else. It is rather common for non-Apple boards, especially those pulled from a PC, to not respond to the traditional Apple startup key command combos.
Take the computer off wall power again then press and hold the power button for about 20 seconds. Then restore power and try a normal start. That worked for me when I had a similar failure to start with my G4 MDD.
If you have never replaced the internal backup battery ("PRAM" battery) it is, by, now surely extremely dead and it could not preserve the needed start parameters when power was unexpectedly cut. If you get the computer going, consider installing a new PRAM battery so you won't replay today's issues. tomorrow. The batteries are cheap and replacing one is a three-minute at-home job:

I have one of the original IPOD's and just tried adding a bunch of songs, (200) and now that they're on my computer my ipod won't sync as it now says i need about 8.45 more gb. any thoughts on this?

I have one of the oriignal IPOD's circo 2006. I've got about 150 tunes on it which has been fine but today tried to add another 200 or so and was advised I need about 848 MB to load them. Is there any solution. I have 2 playlists. One with the original 150 tunes and one with the addiitional 200 tunes. Thoughts as now my IPOD won't sync at all and I don't want to delete any of the songs if I don't have to.

How much storage on the IPOD - I have one that has 60GB on it. Also have an IPOD shuffle that held less songs.
As your IPOD does not have enough storage for all of your songs, you have to create a list to sync to it that does not exceed the storage size.
For instance my IPOD shuffle had its only list of songs that did not exceed storage.
The IPOD gets them all because I only loaded the songs from my CDs that I really liked into ITUNES - leaving out the ones I skipped over.

When I try to make a call it will go through and I can hear the other person but they cannot hear me, is there a setting that disables the speaker when using the headphones to try to make a call, also speakerphone automatically goes on when I start a call which I do not like, any suggestions how to fix this?

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.
