Yes it is. I also tried dragging and dropping without using the Genius feature and I still can put music on my iphone??

You will have to sync your iphone to this computer first, erasing the current content and replacing wioth content from the new computer.
Make sure you have copied everything from the old comptuer to the new one first.

Cannot drag and drop Audible audiobooks onto my iPhone 4s

When I attempt to drag and drop Auible audiobook files i only get a ghosted file on my iPhone. The file itself nver make it tot he phone. This ghosted file cannot be deleted from the iPhone.
Once I try to drag an Audible audiobook to the phone it then locks up the file transfer process on the phone and music files also become untransferable. They also just show up as ghosted files on the phone (when viewed through itunes). They do not show up on the phone when viewed from the phone.
Please help!

Now I tried downloading other albums that are in my library but not on my phone and those didn't work either. Could it be my phone or itunes that's not working?

since updateing itunes i cant seem to drag and drop new songs over to itunes. like i was able to do in the past all the time. is it a fix or a bug with the new verson? i know i can add them in the other way but i found drag and drop so easy.

Cannot drag and drop purchased music onto ipod

Any help please, Win XP and latest Ipod and I tunes Software
I have had Ipod for a couple of years now and now I can't seem to copy my purchased music onto my Ipod any more.
The Ipod has always been set to manual mode as I have rubbish in my library I don't wish my Ipod to suffer from.
I can copy old music from my library ok and can still import CD's and they copy ok but purchased music is a no no.
I can burn purchased music to CD and then re-burn to get around the problem.
I Look at the purchased music file on PC and it tells me that the file is locked but cannot find a way to unlock it.
Any Ideas???? Cant see any problem with permissions on files etc, etc... and still hapening after itunes and Ipod upgrade.

Thanks for the reply but I had already updated Ipod to latest before posting but still had the problem.
For all other people concerned I have now managed to fix the issue.
Windows XP users try the following.
1: Connect Ipod as usuall
2: Right click on my computer and Click on "Manage"
3: Expand the Storage tree and click on disk Management, (you can also find this in your control panel) you will see your Ipod along with all of your other fixed drives.
4: Right click on your Ipod and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths"
5: Click on "Change" and assign a higher letter than what it currently is. E.G (T Drive)
Click continue if you get any warnings that programs might not work etc, etc.
6: From here to make things simple shutdown your PC and reconnect your Ipod as you normally would and this fixed my problem.
It looked like there was another device using the same letter as the Ipod (Memory Card perhaps) and so setting the Ipod to somthing different seemed to fix it.
Hope the advice helps others and thanks to all the discussions that pointed me in the same and right direction.

I just downloaded a CD onto my itunes library. But when I try to drag and drop the CD onto my Iphone 4s, it doesn't do anything. I have manually manage music and videos checked but it still wont download. I don't know whats wrong. Someone help!

As b noir pointed out...the playlist can be sorted by artist, or album, or track number...which can be helpful or really annoying, depending on what you are trying to do. Just select/sort that far left column (Left of "Name") and then you can reorder the playlist.

Reluctantly, I updated my Itunes to the latest version. Glad they could make it a thousand times more confusing. If that was their goal...mission accomplished. I simply want to drag and drop a song that I purchased on my home computer to my ipod or iphone. In the good old days before the latest "improvement", you could simply drag the song to your device. Now, I can view my device. I can view the song. I cannot add the song to my ipod or iphone. Itunes helps actually offers no help for this basic operation. I've asked a few other pc people that have iphones/ipods and they say they just buy the song on their device because they cannot figure it out either. Was this really progress? Bravo on the update, apple guys. You made it so cool, now nobody but you fools can use it...

I got my own answer !! I saw it on another post. Select "View" and then toggle down to "View Sidebar".
Now I can drag and drop like before.

I'm sure I've been throught the settings enough, but I cant seem to get this going. How do I drag and drop mp3's into my iphone from a second computer?
I'm travelling for a few weeks and can't seem to pull any of my music onto my iphone, its really annoying me!

OK, so I have the same problem. I flush all the songs out so the shuffle is empty, click and drag a song to the ipod icone in the source pane, and as soon as the songgets on top of the ipod, the green arrow disappears and I am not allowed to add the song, either singly or in groups. Have all the latest software. Did the 5 R's.
Also, can't "Autofill from" anything but "MUSIC". It doesn't recognize any of my playlists, and nothing but "MUSIC" appears in the pop-up menu.
Now what?

Since i have my ipod i have always dragged and dropped music from my itunes library onto my ipod but now every time i open itunes it tries to sync my whole library onto my ipod which i dont want, but now i cant drag nd drop onto it anymore , and there is a "lock" symbol beside the space that shows how much space is available on my ipod (such as the one that appears when on hold).

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs to it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and videos" in the iPod Summary tab and click Apply. Cant Drag and Drop Video to 60 gig

Hi everyone. I finally decided to try and put some video on my ipod video. For some reason though i cant drag and drop video onto the ipod. The files are all proper format so that is not the problem.
If i add the videos to my library and then have it auto-update the videos it will add them to the ipod. I cannot simply create a playlist of them though and drag it on, or drag a single video onto the ipod.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I think I know what's happening as I'm having the same problem.
Under previous iPhotos you could look at the main viewer and drag a photo or multiple photos from there to an already created album.
Now, it only appears that you can drag an entire event from the events window to an album, even when you click on an event to open it, you can't drag individual photos from an event to an album.
So how do we add individual photos to an album??
