I updated Itunes and my Ipods completely messed up
I have 2 Ipod classic 60GB.
I updated Itunes a few days ago. Downloaded a few new songs and updated the one Ipod, it seemed to work fine until later. While I was listening to it, a screen popped up, telling me to restore my Ipod. I did so as soon as I had gotten home.
After restoring it, I tried syncing all my music back to it, it ended up freezing, and after freezing, the Ipod screen no longer said it was syncing. And then Itunes froze. I actually had to restart my computer just to do anything.
So, after all this, I went to update the other Ipod, so I could transfer the files on it to another computer. Again, it worked for a while then just stopped being registed by the computer.
Now, currently, both Ipods are displaying the apple logo on a grey screen (Like they're resetting) but they dont reset.
I've tried putting them in disk mode, uninstalling Itunes, reseting/restoring them and nothing works!
HELP!!!
What can I do to fix this?
I ain't paying $30 to just talk to someone on the phone, and I can't afford to buy new Ipods!
Two problems
1. Latest iTunes freezes
You can go to the iTunes library folder and delete all files related to Genius, apparently one of the files was deadlocked, when iTunes cant write to iPod. Then reboot your PC.
I would suggest downgrading back to your earlier iTunes version, if you dont need all the new fangled hooha in the new iTunes. (ie if you dont own, iPhones 4, iPad, iPod Touch)
2. iPod Hangs on Apple logo.
Try the Hard Reset the iPod as below- this does not delete or erase any song or data.
Make sure you have charge your battery for at least 2 hours.
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
Then release the buttons
Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
As for syncing with the new iTunes, try it after deleting the Genius files. (iTunes will recreate them correctly)
Good Luck!

A message keeps popping up when I try to join my network that says, "unable to join the network."
I have already reset network settings and restored ipod to original settings.
I already updated iTunes and upgraded iPod to iOS 6.
The password is correct. I even made sure by checking my wifi account.
I have completely restarted my internet connection multiple times.
I have also restarted my ipod multiple times
My wifi was working on my iPod yesterday before I reset all settings.
I updated it yesterday to iOS 5. Still didn't work.
It wasn't updated to the new iOS 6 until today so I don't think it has anything to do with the upgrade.
My camera started to be glitchy, so I reset my Ipod like I was advised in another discussion.
My internet wasn't connected anymore. My password wasn't working either, but the wifi connection was still showing.
Safari still wasn't working, though.
I did the sensible thing and I reset my network connection.
Now, the password isn't working and there's no wifi signal.
The camera is working well now, but the wifi is messed up. I didn't expect any of this to happen. The internet is all I use the iPod for. Now, the iPod is useless to me. Please help?are other things still connecting to the wifi without a problem?
Have you tried resetting network settings, then unplugging modem and router from power for 40 seconds then plugging back in letting the lights stabilize and Then recconecting with the ipod>? -
i need help!??? i just tried to update my ipod and now its making me restore it on itunes and it wont complete the restoring process. Its giving the warning that the updated software server couldn't be reached. Can anybody help????
Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem -

I currently have Leopard, and there are no longer updates for it. So I must upgrade to either Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion. Without doing so I cannot update my itunes, and my ipod is no longer compatile with my mac. How can I buy the upgrade, since I do not have access to the mac store as that comes with Snow Leopard? I went to Best Buy and they said neither Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion can be bought there.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs. You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade all the way to Mountain Lion:

Sync problem - earlier today I updated both iTunes and my iPod Touch. Since then, I have tried syncing the two. The iPod Touch claims that there is no music on the iPod, however, when I connect it to my computer it says my full library is on there. At present, I am unable to listen to songs on the iPod when not connected to the computer. What can I do to fix this?
Thanks for any help!- Have you reset your iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next would be to backup your iPod and then restore you iPod from backup via iTunes. -

My iPod Shuffle will not charge or connect to the computer. I updated iTunes and bought a new charger. Any ideas? Thanks
My question was, when you connect the shuffle to USB, does the light come ON? From the way you answered, I'm not sure if you are answering that question, or saying that the light does not come ON when you move the power switch on the shuffle to the ON position.
Also, what happens when you connect the shuffle to your computer by itself, with nothing else connected to USB?
If you get no response (no light) from the shuffle when you connect it to USB by itself, trying both the original USB cable and a new one that is compatible with the 4th gen shuffle, try connecting something else to the USB port to confirm it is working properly. It would be best to test the USB port with something similar, such as a USB flash drive or external drive. If you can confirm the USB port works properly, it is likely that the cause for this problem is on the shuffle, such as a faulty headphones jack or bad logic board.
If the shuffle is less than one year from purchase date, it is under warranty. -

updated itunes, music is missing, trying to do the previous itunes library fix, but last file is from November 2011! I'm pretty sure there were updates after that, and i definitely added more things to it since then.
I'm really hoping I don't have to go add all my music again, and then go through and rebuild my playlists. Never mind work out things between itunes and my ipod.
My playlists and the music I have on my ipod is still there. The ipod doesn't seem to auto-syncing to itunes, and I'm given the choice to erase and sync, or transfer purchases. Maybe the backup I made for my ipod will save what I wipe to sync?
... and now itunes isn't responding at all.... help?Hi JKnoblauch,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If your songs that are missing from your iTunes library were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download those songs directly to your iTunes library again. Please use the following article for information and steps on how to do so.

Updated my iPod, without updating iTunes and it says reset to manufactured settings
After the update was at 99% it said, iTunes needed to be updated first but nothing told me to update iTunes, and now it says reset to manufactured settting, aka clear everything. I don't have everything backed up on this laptop (my sisters) and when I turn it on the screen says usb to iTunes and when it is, it just says reset. Anything will help.
- The first step of an update is making a backup. I iTunes go to Preverences and then to the Devices tab. You should see your iPod backup with a date specified. Does the date correspond to to when you tried the update?
- A backup does not include music or the apps themselves. Therefore, if the compute does not have the apps in its iTunes library. the app data in the backup can't be restored.
- You really have no alternative but to restore the iPod. -
I updated to the latest version of Itunes and my Ipod touch froze up with a picture of a usb cable and the i tunes logo
Well the answer I gave you didn't solve the problem. Is the USB cable and the iTunes logo still on the iPod screen? You could start the "fixing process" by rebooting your computer, connect the iPod again, launch iTunes and see if anything happens.
This article may prove to be helpful. there are many steps that you can try to get the iPod running again.

Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
If yu can't turn it off, then let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and service is required. -

Hello there, HighLanderPete.
The following Knowledge Base article provides a few steps for you to try with your iPhone:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
