I updated itunes and now it wont open, what do i do?

I updated itunes, and not it wont open on my computer, what do i do?

Unfortunately uninstalling and reinstalling or repairing iTunes alone won't fix the problem, you need to remove other components too....
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

i updated itunes and now it wont open and keeps giving me an error message MSVCR80.dll is missing. what do i do? i dont want to lose everything

    Hi there,
Earlier iTunes (and supporting applications) need to be completely uninstalled before you can install the new version. Here's the complete Apple info on this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Mobile device application will most likely fail to uninstall, so you would need to visit its location(s) and manually delete the files then folder(s). The location of the folders is documented in this link from Apple.
You won't lose your music when you uninstall iTunes. It's located in your music folder and won't be touched.

  • HT203175 I updated iTunes and now it wont open. Is there a fix that doesn't require re-installing it?

I did the latest update for iTunes and now it wont open. It says my version is corrupted. Is there a way to fix it without re-installing?

    Just remove and reinstall iTunes.
This has no affect on the media on the computer.

  • Tried to update itunes but now it wont open,an error message comes up ??

i have tried to update my itunes but now i am not able to open it and an error message comes up saying "this application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found . re installing the application may fix the problem" . i dont know how to reinstall it or how to fix it help !??

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Updated iTunes and now will not open

Just upgraded to iPhone 4 and in order to proceed with setup of phone, need to connect to iTunes.  I recently (within past few days), updated iTunes per software update received.  NOW, iTunes does not open at all.  I receive an error message that says it had to close (although it never really opened).  VERY upset that I cannot use my new phone till connected.
Using Windows XP.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple tiimes and no change.
    Help is very much appreciated!!

  • Updated itunes and now can't open it

I updated a new itunes version and now, when I try to open it, I first get a new licensing agreement page, and then an error message that tells me that I don't have enough memory to open itunes. The only thing that's changed since I last used itunes is the new upgrade...what should I do?
    I appreciate your help.
    Alexis

I have the same "Not enough memory" problem ... if someone knows how to fix it ... thanx for your help

  • Downloaded latest version of Itunes and now it wont open

I was running Itunes this morning when I was prompted to update to the new version, I went along with it and now when I try to open Itunes the computer loads for a moment, and then the program fails to launch.
    w.t.f.? help!

I tried all day long and here is my solution:
Remove itunes and quicktime from your comp.
Delete all itunes entries, files and folders which means:
Delete all entries in the registry: open regedit and search for itunes and delete the entries. I did the same for quicktime (but only programm entries, NOT extentions etc.)
Search for itunes folders and files in windows explorer and delete them.
Finally restart computer, install itunes again.
I did it and finally my itunes works again!
    Best regards,

  • I have just updated itunes and now it wont show any of my devices to sync to in corner or screen and all the media

i have just updated itunes now it wont show my device to sync to in corner  and all the media (mucic, movies) have red text instead of being normal .. whats going on freaking out???

Since iOS 5 has not been released yet, it's interesting you say you've already downloaded it.  Trash the file you downloaded and wait for the official release. It will probably drop around 10:00 California time.

  • Upgraded Itunes and now it wont open!

I just upgraded my iTunes to 9.02. Now I cannot open iTunes at all. The icon is there but it will not open. I have a MAC OS X 10.4.10 And in order for this itunes 9 to work I need safari 4, and in order for THAT to work I need a 10.4.11. Ahhh! Is there anyway to download the older version of itunes? I just want my music back!

you can download the Mac OS X 10.4.11 combo update here http://support.apple.com/downloads/#mac%20os%20x%2010.4.11%20combo%20update.
however, if you really want to go back to a previous iTunes version, try this:
    +1) Quit iTunes.+
+2) Delete iTunes from your Applications folder.+
+3) Go to your ~/Music/iTunes folder. Delete or rename the "iTunes Library" file.+
+4) Open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and look for the backup of your old pre-9 library; it should be dated at about the time you first ran iTunes 9. Copy it back out to the ~/Music/iTunes folder, and rename it to "iTunes Library".+
+6) click here to download iTunes 8.2.1. The page says it's for G3, but the Read Me file says it'll run on G4, G5, and Intel too. Open the disk image and run the installer.+
+You should now be able to run iTunes 8.2.1 again.+
+And your iTunes will restore to before you upgraded and you won't lose anything+.
