I updated my iMac to Mountain Lion. All the files were deleted. I have Time Machine backups. When I restart the mac pressing Command R to restore from backup it shows the previous OS X (Leopard) beside the date of the backup. Will it go back if I restore?

No, it won't revert to the prior OS X but you you may have third party apps installed that were compatible with Lion that may not be compatible with Mountain Lion.

Your redemption code was used to acquire an activation code. The activation code is what you need to use when you want to reinstall/enable the software again. Check your Adobe account online to see if the number(s) can be found there.

I just installed Mountain Lion on my mid 2007 iMac but now my 2004 Microsoft Student Teacher Word, Excel, and Powerpoint won't open and are x'd out on my dock.Do I need to update to the 2011 Student zoffice version?
Microsoft Office's 2011 version is compatible with Lion and presumably either works with Mountain Lion or an update will make it so. The problem with this approach is that Office 2011 will "convert" your earlier data files and there lies the rub! For example, I have the need to weekly open a chart created in Excel 2004, but Excel 2011 trashes the chart in its "conversion."
So I have approached the overall problem differently.
The reason your applications do not work in Mountain Lion is that they were written for the older PowerPC CPU that all Macs used up to 2006. When Apple made its transition to the Intel CPU, they licensed software that they included in all versions of OS X (from Tiger to Leopard and optionally, Snow Leopard) called Rosetta.
Rosetta miraculously allows PowerPC applications to work on the Intel processor transparently; you do not know it is even present.
The problem is that after 6 years of the transition, Apple's license to use the underlying software expired for OS X Lion and all version thereafter (and it is doubtful that the current owner of the software, IBM, would relicense it, even if Apple were inclined to do so).
So for those of use that need to run Lion, I have offered the option to install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7:

The first problem is - during importing all my pictures throug ovi suite - all my pictures and videos were deleted from my phone and werent copied out to my pc, i didnt find all my pictures which are so important for me! Only one picture was removed to pc and kept on my c7 - the picture which was sent to me via mms. Why its happened so and where i can find my pics now? next time i tried to download one song to my C7 -and i found out that a lot of my songs were removed from my C7. i had 200 songs but i found only 40 of them WHY?
the second one is - though i have no any pictures on my c7 - its said that my mass memory is full and phone memory is full as well. why?? how can i solve this issue? i ned ur help please..When i saw the message that my memory is full, i decided to import all mu pictures and video to pc. I connected my C7 to pc and clicked to import pictures, after that i ve found that all my pictures were deleted from my C7 and also i didnt find them on my pc. hope u uderstand me. thanks

I updated my imac to osx mountain lion. Had trouble with icloud affecting my itunes so I turned off iclouds.
Then my automatic software updates stopped coming through. Even when I check for them manually by
clicking on software update it acts like it's checking for about one second then says "no updates available".
It's been months since I've got any updates, used to get them every week or two.
Could turning off icloud have affected the necessary contacts ? Please help,

If you check for software updates using the App Store in OS X 10.8 and get "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" the problem may be with your Software Update preferences. This is particularly likely if you were using a custom Apple Software Update server. To solve the problem, quit the App Store, move the following two files (if present) to the trash, restart, and only then rerun App Store updates:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist.lockfile

Ever since I installed the Mountain Lion update to the OS, my iMac has been running very slowly. I have to wait 25 seconds to come out of a sleep mode. This and a number of other issues makes the machine unusable. Please tell me how I should try to address this.
Man, do you have Sophos antivirus? If that so, you need to uninstall it the right way:
For Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X version 7.x , go to Macintosh HD|Library|Sophos Anti-Virus.
Select 'Remove Sophos Anti-Virus.pkg'.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
NOTE, if you are running Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X version 4.x, the path in step 1 is Macintosh HD|Library|Application Support|Sophos Anti-Virus.
It seems that Sophos antivirus is crashing ML. They have an update but I'll wait some time becuase I've really had a painful time these days. -
Ok i currently have Lion on my early 2011 15" MBP. When i try to install Mountain Lion to my mac HD it keeps telling me I cannot because its used for time machine backups. I have done a search and I know I have to delete the backups.backupdb folder but I cannot find it for the life of me. If anyone can help I would really appreciate, thanks!
NikIf you double-click on your hard drive icon the Backups.backupd folder should be on the root level of your drive. Sometimes OS X gets confused and incorrectly puts a Backups.backupd folder on your hard drive. That folder should only appear on a drive used for Time Machine
If you can't find the Backups.backupd folder try using the free EasyFind with both Package Contents and Invisible Files & Folders checked. Search for "Backups.backupd" without the quotes on your hard drive (default selection), not your Time Machine drive. Right-click on the search result and choose to Reveal in Finder. Click on the link that kisuke3 provided and follow those directions
If you can't find a Backups.backupd folder anywhere try booting into Safe Mode by holding down the Shift key right after you hear the startup chime. Keep holding the Shift key down until you see the Apple Logo. The progress bar that appears indicates the progress of the file check that Safe Mode automatically does. Give it time to finish.
Reboot normally and see if the ML installer will work. If it does wait until Spotlight is finishing indexing before turning Time Machine back on. -

1) IF the carrier offers unlocking. Not all carriers do

Thank you, Morty S.I have a perfectly-working LW 4/600 with exactly the same issue. They use localtalk - a long obsolete network connection, that doesn't connect to modern networks, and appletalk as the comm protocol.
I think the only choice you have is to use an old powerPC Mac as print server. You tell me which old Mac you have, with a localtalk connector, or that runs OS X 10.4 or earlier (so it speaks appletalk), and I'll tell you how I've done it for the past 11 years or so.
Right now I use a G4 running 10.4.11, plus an etherMac ethernet to localtalk adapter.
Before, I used a PMac 6100 running LPD server software. -
Move external HD to a new drive, but have Time Machine think it's the same?
I have two external drives, one for data and one for Time Machine backups. Time Machine backs up both my internal HD and my external HD. My external HD is dying, so I bought a new one and plan to migrate the data over.
Is it possible to somehow move the data to the new HD and still have Time Machine think that the new HD is the old one, since the data is the same? I usually just use Finder to move files from the old HD to new one (and then remove the old HD and rename the new one to use the same name), but from what I understand that wouldn't copy over the Time Machine data, however.In most of the cases, that Disk Utility message means that the hard drive is damaged.
However, you can try to erase the disk and restore the Time Machine backup to see if it works. Follow these steps:
1. Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and press the C key while your Mac is starting.
2. Go to Utilities menu > Disk Utility, select Macintosh HD on the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk. If there's an error during this step, take the Mac to an Apple Store to get a new hard drive.
3. Close Disk Utility, go to Utilities menu, choose the option to restore a Time Machine backup and follow the steps.
If the computer is slow after doing this, take the Mac to an Apple Store as soon as you can -

1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
