Did you by this iPad new? Or used? If it was a used iPad, you'll need the Apple ID login for the original owner. If you bought it new, contact AppleCare with proof that you are the original owner and they may be able to help you.

This may sound crazy, but download any free app. This often "shocks" the other apps into working.

Every time i connect it to itunes all it says is "There is no SIM card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate." Even thought there is a sim card connected in my phone.

Is the SIM from a supported carrier?
Is the device carrier locked, officially unlocked, or hacked to be unlocked?
Has the SIM been reseated? If not, try that.
Also, basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore. Has any of that been tried?

You have to download the individual youtube app now. It is no longer a nataive ios app from apple in ios6

So now I went back to the screen that orginally asked me for my Apple ID and passort, and instead of entering my Apple ID i entered the email address associated with it and the new password. It now tells me "You can't sign in because your account was disabled for security reasons. To enable your account, reset your passwort at iforgot.apple.com"
I have now changed my password twice and it still doesn't work.
Until I get this resolved my tablet is useless.

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
If no joy...
1) Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore

Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...

I got a Sim Free 64GB Iphone 5 from Carphonewarehouse in UK n gifted the same to my Bro in law in India. He inserted the nano sim and can see the carrier and 3G symbol but the phone asks for activation. Its a SIM FREE phone, why cant he use it?

Please help me with this as the phone is currently lying as a dead paperwieght with my brother in law. The phone, even though bought as SIM FREE, keeps asking for ACTIVATION!!!
Does it mean that I need to activate it with a SIM of one of the carriers that offers a contract and then I am free to use it with any SIM anywhere in the world?

Thanks, tried that.. half their numbers keep going busy and when they do pick up they are unable to assist.
I called up APPLE in UK as well, no help there either..
but.. I say.. its a SIM FREE phone for crying out loud, what is this ACTIVATION nonsense??

I tried to update the newer version of IOS on my Iphone 4S. After the update an Itunes icon and the adapter appeared on my screen.
I tried restoring the phone but it erased all of my data and now I can only take calls. I can no longer make calls and or send or receive text.
Any suggestions, or should I just take it to an Apple Store?
Any and all suggestions are welcome.

That picture is trying to tell you that there is a problem and you must connect it to your computer and restore with iTunes to fix it.

Has apple abandoned the IPT2 - Help ?I notice from the forum that many new apps need 4.3 and it's not compatible with IPT2 but surely I can access older apps online. Do I have to restore and stick with old apps and no future updates.

I am facing same problem with my first iPOD Touch.
I think only that person can come to our rescue who still have old versions applications stored in any of the old backups or computers. He/she can mail us older versions of applications and then we can delete newer versions from our computer and reinstall the older versions.
There should have been a provision in Apple store to get older versions of applications. It is understood that we will not get newer versions of these applications which do not support 4.2.1 but atleast we should be entitled to get older versions of popular applications which used to work perfectly well with 4.2.1. In my case, there were many paid applications also which got updated automatically in my computer system. But, after formatting my old iPOD touch to reset its password, I was not able to install even those paid applications.
Not Happy with this policy of Apple.

Cab you get your ipod to forget old apple ID, because it is asking for the password but I do not use that apple ID becaue I have a new one, and not it will not let me enter a few of my apps

I Have a new apple ID and it is asking for my old ones password, I try to enter an app and it asks me to sign in but I hit cancel then ot kicks me out of the app, everytime.

When an app is purchased, it is locked to the Apple ID used to purchase/download the app. That will never change. If you have apps that are asking for the old ID for an update, it is working the way it is supposed to. If you cannot remember that password, then you will need to delete that app and download it again with the new Apple ID.

Before I did this I backed up the ipad to my laptop so I wouldnt lose precious pics and videos of my baby boy. Restoring an iPad from an iTunes-generated backup should not require an Apple ID password.
Did you encrypt the iPad backup? If so, then trying to restore will require entering the encryption password.

HT1414 I tried to do an update in the settings mode and now my ipad is frozen with a black screen with itunes app in the middle and showing to plug in the charger. Nothing is happening and tried turning off device and still nothing.

You are in recovery mode, you need to restore it through iTunes on your computer. Follow the article you linked from.

Yes, yes, yes... I've gone through all the common sense trouble shoots. Would't be here asking questions if that answers existed on the net. Sorry if I sound a bit edgey, but I've had nothing but issues with every update since IOS 7. Clearly there's nothing that can be done about this. and this is the final nail in the coffin to try to make me buy an Iphone 5.
