I don't know what you mean by "then I GSM". Is your phone a CDMA phone? If so, did Tesco unlock the GSM portion of the phone to be used with a GSM carrier's SIM card when roaming outside of the country? If so then I doubt they will allow you to activate it again for permanent use with another carrier.

I recently updated my iPhone 3GS now my maps application always gives me the wrong current location. It worked fine before it was updated during my last sync. How do I fix this?

I have an iPhone 3GS 16gb not jailbroken, that I just synced and updated to the latest fix. Before my google maps was working perfectly but since I updated it always gives me a current location that is about a half mile off in any direction. I have tried several hard resets to no avail. turning off my wifi, nothing. Turning off my location services-reset-then turn them back on, again nothing. Tried resetting network settings with the auto lock on never. Rebooted.. Nothing again..

yes, you can update to the latest iOS, that would be the first thing AppleCare would have you do
doing a restore and then putting your information right back on the device is not a troubleshooting step. If anything, you wipe out the issue and then have put it right back on your phone. It would be better to restore as new

All runned well, till the last step, Restore, on iTunes : a message say: we can not respond to your activation momentarily, Try later, and on IPhone, after selecting language, Area & zone, connecting to Wi-Fi, your Iphone can't be activated, try with iTunes, or try in few minutes.

I don't know if it was jailbroken, I bought it new, we don't have an Apple Shop here in Algeria to buy iPhones nor any other Apple's product. All products are not officially open for Algeria, Now, I think that it was jealbroken, I realized that now, I think it's not my fault to buy a jealbroken product -without knowing that- it's Apple's fault! why they don't open an Apple shop everywhere in the world like its rivals DID?!

Can anyone out there please help me out...i just recently bought my iphone (n im lovin it to bitsssss)....few days ago ive been trying to sync my iphone with my ITUNES (lastest version) however i get an error saying:
ITUNES cannot read the content of the Iphone "Iphone". Go to summary tab in Iphones preferences and click Restore to restore to this iphone to default factory settings.
The problem is i have backed up my iphone 2-3 weeks last time and ive got so much changes apps, photos, settings and app data in it now that im not willing to lose my data. Can anyone help me figure out a way to resolve this either enabling a back up before restoring to default settings or not needing to restore it completely.

See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.

IPhone 3GS won't start at all...please help

My iPhone 3GS won't start at all, it only shows the apple logo untill the battery runs out and it keeps on doing that. It happened after I erased all contents & settings. I tried pressing home button & power button for 15 seconds too, it didn't work. Any other ideas?

while turned off, connect that to the wall charger, it should start normally
after few minutes.
if it dont start then put your phone in dfu mode and connect to itunes for
a restore. for dfu mode search google.

Are you updating through the phone or through iTunes on a pc/mac?
The time it takes to download the update depends on the speed of the internet connection you are using.

Iphone 3GS 32Gb recognised by PC not by Itunes - please help...

I am at a loss. Iphone has been updated to latest firmware. It is recognised on osme computers, but crucially not on my laptop which is where my library is... Other ipod devices will sync quite happily but not the iphone.
Windows recognises the device and charges it quite happily, but ITunes refuses to see that there is an iphone connected. If anyone can give me some pointers (I am technically literate - but lost on this one) I would be very grateful indeed.

I have been having similar issues lately...Intermittently. I posted a separate post earlier today. I could see the mapped drive of the phones camera in windows just fine, navigate it, copy pics down, etc...But iTunes would not see it/lock up like it was trying to talk to it...Sometimes I would get an error...If I just unplugged it, it would free up iTunes...Anyway, I had tried several things, but ultimately, I think I have resolved the issue....Are you using the exact same cable to sync the other devices?...I think my main problem was a non-Apple USB cable(that came with a non-Apple car charger)...Try a different cable anyway...I brought my Apple cable that came with the phone with me to work today(I just use it to charge at night), and have not gotten it to fail once. I must have plugged-unplugged 24 times today just to see if i could make it fail. I could get it to fail on the Non-Apple cable I would say...at least 2-3 out of 10 tries...The non-Apple cable has been working fine since I got the non-Apple car charger when I bought the phone back in July....but I guess you get what you pay for...It still will charge it though...so I'll use the non-Apple cable at home for charging, and keep the Apple cable with me...Should get another wall charger with a new cable anyway though...Oh well...Hope this helps...Post back with results. Contact Apple using www.apple.com/support/contact if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the iPhone in to an Apple retail store.
