I updated my itunes and now it doesn't recognize my ipod touch

Ever since I updated my itunes to the latest version, it doesn't recognize my ipod therefore I can't sync new songs onto it.
I tried following these apple help steps http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US but am stuck on #4-11...for some reason I can't delete the Temp folder because it's saying I still have a program open but I'm sure I've closed everything!

  • I updated to iTunes 10.2.2, and now it doesn't recognize my iPod Touch!

I updated my computer to Snow Leopard, and I was prompted to update iTunes to 10.2.2. Okay, did that. Now iTunes doesn't recognize my iPod whatsoever! But my computer does as a whole: i.e., Aperture automaticaly opens as it usually does when I plug in my iPod.
So this is great. And there's no bug fix; I've googled for the past hour now. Is anyone else having this issue and is there a fix? Because for now, I can't update my iPod at all!

If nothing else, try upgrading to iTunes 10.3.1.

  • HT1449 I've transferred my itunes library from PC to Macbook pro running latest itunes and now it will not recognize my iPods (nano 4 and 5th Gen an Ipod touch).  All music is there and playable but will not recognize any devices

I've transferred my itunes library from PC to Macbook pro running latest itunes and now it will not recognize my iPods (nano 4 and 5th Gen an Ipod touch).  All music is there and playable but will not recognize any devices. Help please

The ipod is not a backup/storage device.
You need to copy everything from your old computer to your new one.
The Apple store will do this for you,  you can call apple support and they will help you, you can use google.

  • Slicked computer clean, downloaded itunes and now it won't recognize my ipod, says it is synced with another library. How do I correct this?

  • I downloaded the latest iTunes and now it doesn't recognize my iPhone

I downloaded the latest iTunes update and now it doesn't recognize my iPhone

Thank you so much for your reply! I ended up calling Apple Support. (My phone was still eligible for free support.) The person was very helpful and was able to help me resolve the problem. In my case, it involved deleting itunes and some other things from my PC computer and reinstalling them. Works perfectly now.

  • TS1363 i downloaded the the itunes and now it doesn't reconize my ipod

downloaded new itunes version and now it doesn't reconize m ipod

    1. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
    4. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

  • Update install and delete error says itunes is on a network unavailable.  I also upgraded Itunes and now it won't recognize my Ipad touch

I upgraded Itunes about a month ago and since then It does not recognize my Ipod and then I tried to update again and it won't upgrade.  The error message says it's on a unavailable network path not found.  So I tried to get tech support they told me to delete and start over.  I went through my control panel and it gave me the same network error and would not delete the software.  I am beyond frazzeled over this.  Please help.

Essentially 'b noir' is correct, it will be relating to the .msi file that is, for lack of a better word, screwed. It's a pretty long process in order to cleanly remove and redownload the correct file.
Not really a long process if you can hunt down a copy of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. If you have that installed and working, then so long as you know which particular msi (or msis) are being complained about, you can get past the issue in most cases pretty quickly. For example, for an itunes.msi message see:
error message that I'm missing iTunes.msi.
There's some additional information in my notes on the bookmark about one possible complication requiring a bit more work. (I'm steadily building the additional info on advanced troubleshooting into bookmarks as I build my public Bookmarks, and eventually tag searches on my Bookmark tags should pull up advanced troubleshooting steps too.)

  • I upgraded my PC to iTunes 10.5 and now it doesn't see my iPod touch 4g

the PC sees the iPod as a camera but iTunes does not see it. I went through all the trouble shooting steps suggested in the support tool - to no avail.  iPod Touch 4g OS 4.3.5.  Is it just me or is this a known issue?

    Maybe it's a faulty update
You could see it happened with some ipod touch 4g users too

    Hi abgc,

  • I clicked "yes" to upgrade iTunes and now it doesn't work. I get an error message stating my computer is missing MSVCR80 and then a message stating Error 7 (Windows Error 126). I've tried reloading iTunes twice. What can I do?

I clicked "yes" to upgrade iTunes and now it doesn't work. I get an error message stating my computer is missing MSVCR80 and then a message stating Error 7 (Windows Error 126). I've tried reloading iTunes twice. What can I do?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.
