I updated my OS on my iphone and somehow my icloud id has changed.

Question

When I updated to OS7 my icloud Id is attached to a mail address that I do not have access to as I am no longer working for that company. When I tried t delete the address it needs me to verify myself by responding to a message sent to this inaccessible address. My Apple id seems to be correct as I was able to sign into Facetime with it.  I am unable to sign up to icloud until I can either delete the id that icloud is now using, or add the correct one. How can I fix this?

I found this article to help get that Apple ID singed out of in Settings > iCloud so you can use your current one.
iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud

First, try your current Apple ID password. If that does not solve the issue, try these steps:
If you are currently signed in to iMessage or FaceTime
Sign out of iMessage or FaceTime:
iMessage: Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
FaceTime: Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign back in to iMessage or FaceTime:
iMessage: Go to Settings > Messages, then tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage".
FaceTime: Go to Settings > FaceTime, then tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime".
You should now be able to sign out of iCloud. You will still see your previous Apple ID when signing out.
If you are not signed in to iMessage or FaceTime
Sign in to iMessage or FaceTime:
iMessage: Go to Settings > Messages, then tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage".
FaceTime: Go to Settings > FaceTime, then tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime".
