I updated to Firefox 5, "about Firefox" shows the new version in the browser window, but my shortcut buttons still show "Firefox 4.0 Beta 10"
I updated to Firefox 5, under the help button in the browser "about Firefox" shows the new version, but my shortcut buttons on my monitor still show "Firefox 4.0 Beta 10". Most updates also update the shortcut buttons. Is there a way I can do this?
I just updated to Firefox 5. About Firefox shows me no version number at all. I had to look at Help > Troubleshooting Information to see the version number.
Update: I saw the version number after changing themes. I guess it depends on what theme you use.

I downloaded the new version of pages about a month ago. Today I tried to open documents that I created and saved with the new version and received a message that I needed to download the new version. The app store shows the download. HUH?!?
I'm not sure what you mean by it making accessing files more complicated. I have both Pages 4.3 & Pages 5.1 icons in my Dock as well as Numbers 2.3 & Numbers 3.1. I continue to use the iWork '09 versions for my everyday needs. As long as the new versions are in your Applications folder & the '09 versions in the iWork '09 folder, Software Update will not have a problem updating them even if Apple should come out with a new update for the '09 versions.
Because I have moved the new versions to an external drive & renamed the apps because I want '09 to be the default apps, I do have to remember to move them back to my applications folder & restore the original names before updating. But since you like the new versions this "complication" doesn't apply to you. -
Numbers keeps saying i need the newer version to open existing files- but it is the updated version
I updated Pages and Numbers about 4/5 months ago and have done the updates but when I try to open my documents (ones I just created last week) I get a message saying I need the updated versio of Numbers in order to open it.
Anyone?You are accidentally launching the previous version of Number while trying to open a file created (or saved with) the newer version.
The Previous version is located in the folder "/Applications/iwork '09"
The new version is located in the folder "/Applications"
I keep both in my dock so I can tell them apart:

I've tried updating iTunes for Windows but it won't work. I removed iTunes and downloaded the new version (10.6.1.7) but it won't load. It says it cannot removed the older version of iTunes.

Remove Office 2008 for Mac using Microsoft deinstall procedure. Reinstall Office 2008 for Mac. If there are updates, apply them. Using Disk Utility, verify/repair permissions on your boot drive.
Does Office for Mac 2008 now work correctly? If not, you may want to repeat the above first sentence, and then update to Office for Mac 2011, and apply the latest (14.4.8) update which has Yosemite fixes. -

If you are using the same Apple ID that you used to buy them, it should not be a problem. You must have changed the Apple ID associated with those apps.

When I installed iOS5 on my IPhone4 and selected ICloud for my storage location, all my Notes disappeared off my IPhone & Desktop. Where are they?

What is the procedure to get the newer Firefox version up an running. I need to know if I can just install the new version over the old one or is it more complicated. And once the new version is installed, is it necessary to reboot my computer before I can use it?

I have used Firefox on my computer for several years. Today, after upgrading to the new version, I was not able to open Firefox. I have tried several times uninstalling and re-downloading Firefox. It still will not open! Is the new version not compatible with Windows Vista?

You will have to close firefox.exe with the Windows Task Manager from the "Processes" tab of the WTM since you don't have a widow to close.
The best way to close Firefox is through File > Exit, for those who stuck with the "Firefox" button click on the Firefox button then Exit. It is not perfect but it is a lot better than just closing the window with the "X" in the upper right corner -
My header does not show up new version of pages
I just upgraded to a new imac, with the new version of pages. when transfering documents over, they do not show the old header... where i kept all customer information! please help!
The new Pages does not permit tables or images in headers.
Apple removed over 90+ features from Pages 5.
If you can use Pages '08/'09 which should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.

I love my start page. It's nice and big with the Google search engine bar and Firefox earth symbol attached. I'm positive that the new version of Firefox will cause me to lose this particular start page so I refuse to do the update. If I download the new version and this happens I won't know how to get it back (tho' I did do it once and lost the start page so I went back into my Mac time machine and got the old version back. I was so relieved.) Thank you.
If I recall correctly, you are talking about the default start page. To check if this is correct, type '''about:home''' in the awesome bar. If this is the same as your homepage, it will still be there when you update.

The new version 11 crashes my entire PC causing a total restart about every 15 minutes and I have tried everything to fix this problem with no luck so I have now went back to I.E. aat least it doesnt crash and i can watch Youtube vids without hanging up every 30 seconds!
Each new version of Firefox seems to be WORSE than the one before, crashing my entire system is my biggest issue at this point! Some of the older versions seemed stable so what and why has the developers tptally ruined this browser? I am not the only person with these problems I see forums full of users complaining so why isnt the developers putting out a stable browser?
Firefox needs to GET ON THE BALL and get a stable browser out for all of its lowal users this is totally rediculous! I am VERY PISSED OFF!Whatever you do, don't get version 12 because it's just as bad as the rest. Not responding, not responding is what I see most of the time. I thought Firefox is suppose to be tops but I've had more problems with it than I had with IE. It literally takes minutes for some pages to load. Tabs and pages open by themselves from who knows where.
The updates and new versions go from bad to worse. I scan my computer several times a week with MSE, Malwarebytes, Spybot and SuperAntispyware, thinking that it might help and it doesn't.
This is pathetic. Firefox, please get someone in there who knows what the heck they are doing. It seems like instead of bug fixes, someone's putting in some bugs.

The status bar is pushed up at about 3/4 of the screen, so I can view only Firefox at about 1/4, good thing there is a scroll bar, but below the status bar is white display? can u please help me, I want to drag down the status bar so I can have a full view
