I updated to IOS5.0.1 and it erased everything

Everytime I plug it into my iTunes it has me restore it. I have restored it 4 times now, I'm fed up. I don't have any music or apps nor ringtones that I have purchased. What can I do? iTunes can't help all it does is make me take 3 hours to restore it!

Disconnect from iTunes...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
Turn the Phone On...
Now reconnect to iTunes and Restore as New...

You buy one and only one download.
It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
Certainly you did not update your ipod without making sure that you had transferred anything purchased on the ipod to your computer and included it in your regular backup copy of your computer.

Did you fail to import your pics before updating? That is not good. you should be importing all pics taken with ipod regularly as you would with any digital camera, especially before any update.

I thought this happened when I first updated the software on my iPad. I didn't see any of the calendar events. Eventually they showed up tho. I am not sure exactly how long it took (or why the delay) but all the events were there when I checked again a couple of days later (may have been earlier but I didn't check). Maybe it's just the same thing?

My iPod had been having this problem for a few weeks, but I "fixed" it, and now it is happening again. I have an ipod 40gb touch wheel, and what its doing is I restored my ipod, using 2005.09.06, and then I put all my t4racks back into it through itunes. But, after a day to a week, it will start scrolling through all the songs, never playing any of them, and then go back to the menu. I tried to reset it (play/menu buttons together), and it erased all my tracks. This has happened a couple of times.
Can anyone please help me?

I have the same problem with my 3rd generation iPod. I also "fixed" it, or so I thought, but then the problem returned after awhile. I hate to tell you this, but I really don't think there is a fix for this problem. I've tried all of the recommended "solutions," but none of them worked for very long. I don't think there is anything the matter with my iPod I think the latest firmware update is responsible - others think so too. Did you recently update the firmware for your iPod?

Error -43 and updating to iOS5 without restoring and losing All Music

Hi there, I've been trying to update my third generation iPod Touch to iOS5. My iPad 2 updated with no issue. Whenever I try to update My iTouch I get this error message during the backup phase of installation (even though when I manually backup it seems to do so with no issue.)
I've read other threads and see that most people have "restored" their pod and then it worked but lost all their music files. Mine are not all from iTunes and while I have on an external hard drive, the 4,000 + songs are organized in gibberish folders/code so it would take days to re drop non itunes songs/videos back on aka a major pain and tedious. I would love iOS5 but not at the expense of deleting all my info and starting over when I know its worked and should work on other Apple devices. Has anyone else had success upgrading to iOS5 without erasing their files, or spoken to someone at Apple about this particular error?
I went to the Apple store and was told to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it and then try. That did nothing. Same message.
For reference, I'm on a Windows Vista HP laptop, newest itunes 10.5. Any tips/tricks people have tried would be much appreciated Thank you!

Yes, iOS5 changed the interface of Safari. It's official. Not sure if you've noticed but auto-correct and spellcheck are missing from the search bar as well.

I updated my itouch 2 gen and it erased all games and won't let me download them again

I have a 2 gen itouch for my son. I went to update it and now I've not only lost everything that was working fine on it, I'm unable to download anything from the app store.

Sadly the ios on the 2nd generation ipod touch is to old to run todays apps. It's ios stops at 4.2.1 and you need at least 4.3 or higher. My advise any apps that are still on it don't uninstall them cause you will never get them back. I have a ipod 2nd gen I got from a co-worker I have only 4 apps that aren't default apps. I use it mainly for videos from my itunes library and music. To have the apps of today you need on the outside a 3rd gen but perferably 4th or better yet the 5th gen. The 3rd gen might be able to have a few of todays apps but you are safer getting a 4th or 5th.

I was backing up my iphone to my computer on every 3 months or so. I never noticed the phone backing up my texts, or photos though. but looks like I've lost everything from the last few months and I have lost ALL TEXTS AND ALL PHOTOS that were taken with the phone. They should be in itunes on your computer. Certainly you did not update before syncing your ipod to your computer. Just sync them back to the ipod, the same way you normally sync.

However, I had my music on my iPhone as well so I assumed it will sync. It did sync but not the way I thought, so I lost years of music and favorite uploaded CDs. How can I recover it? I lknow you can acess iTunes from 4 computers so the database is there somewhere. Unfortunately all I was able to recover is the music purchased from iTunes directly. It makes me wonder about the iCloud product; if I cannot find my music what is my incentive to buy iCloud? It seems like they are starting to charge for something that they provided before freely, then messed up the updates and software so that we need to pay for this service now.

iCloud never stored music. That is what the iTunes Match service is for.
The only way to get back non-iTunes-purchased music is to import them to your new iTunes library however you did it on your old computer.

Why was it made possible that our Android phones can and will erase everything including our personal SD memory card data when the unlock screen thinks that 10 attempts were tried to unlock it?

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!
