I have a football game recorded on a DVD+R disc that I was trying to view on my MacBook using DVD Player. The video comes onto the screen, but immediately freezes, and then disappears. An error message comes up saying that DVD player unexpectedly quit. My MacBook operating system is Mac OS X, version 10.5.8. DVD Player is App version 5.0.3, framework version 5.0.7.
However, the DVD+R works on both my Dad's and my brother's laptops. My Dad's laptop is an iBook G4 with Mac OS X operating system, version 10.3.9. The DVD Player is version 4.0. My brother's laptop is a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X operating system, version 10.7.2. The DVD Player is App version 5500.26.1 and framework version 5.5.0. The DVD+R plays fine on their laptops, but will not play on mine.

yes, you can locate and copy a file from your HD to a USB key using UNIX commands. If you know the exact name of the file which you’re trying to locate, try this:
find / -iname filename -print
This command will search your entire internal disk for the particular filename. If you know that it’s within a particular user account, then you can save search time with this variation:
find /Users/username -iname filename -print
Either variation of this command will print all files found which have the given filename. Presuming that you’re able to identify the correct file, you can copy it to a USB key using the command
cp -p filename_returned_by_find /Volumes/USB_volume
If you’re not sure which volume name your USB key has, this command will show you what the possibilities are:
ls /Volumes

I have tried to update IOS 5.1 in my Iphone 4 and unfortunately I got an error message and phone is stucked at restore point. I'm freaking out because almost all my music except for those songs purchased directly from the iTunes store has been deleted from my iPod - about 35 gigs. The songs show up, but they're all faded out and unplayable from my device (I have the newest version). Exclamation points appear beside all my songs in the "On this iPod" section, and yet I can't double-click to locate the files as nothing pops up. Some of my music has a weird circle next to it and is even more faded out when I'm in the "On this iPod" section - that's been happening for a couple of days. Yesterday I tried to set my settings to sync with my library only, and it worked, but this morning everything got even worse with the rest of my songs disappearing. What's happening???? Help??

Time machine : started the restoration, stopped mid-way and didn't show any error message
Hi, i made a complete backup of my system to be able to install windows 7 via bootcamp. I had to backup because a complete format was necessary.
I reinstalled Mac OS X 10.6 (the exact same version i had) everything works just fine. I started the time machine so i could have everything i had before i formatted. The restoration started normally and continued until about half. Then, the transfer window dissapeared, not showing any error message. I don't see my disk image that i was copying. It's nowhere to be found.
And now, i can't even try again because there's 150 GB that i can't seem to find anywhere (which is about half of my backup) and there is not enough space on my hard drive anymore. I try to find what was copied and there is nothing.
Please HELP ME !!!Unfortunately when Adobe products are restored from backup, especial CS4 and especially Mac, it breaks licensing.
There is a python script included in the license recovery kit that should work if you are familiar with Terminal.
If not, you must reinstall your CS4 suite. You don't need to delete your preferences, so it should be the same as before.

I ahve deleted 2 videos by mistake and was wondering if they would be on my iCloud?If they were in your camera roll and on your phone when you last backed up, they would be included in your iCloud backup. If you restored the entire backup you should recover them.

I am trying to upgrade my 4s to iOS 6 using wi-fi and error comes up. I tried it after I shut it down for a few hours after I tried upgrading it.
I had a similar problem. My phone actually locked up. I had to restore my phone before running the upgrade software. The upgrade then ran successfully.

when attempting a restore, as suggested, to try and fix a week wifi signal on my iphone 5 I got past the point where the sopftware was extracted from my phone but then an error message appeared saying that the phone could not be restored becase of an unknown error (3014). I have tried about 20 times to make it work after trying a number of suggestions I have seen online. Has anyone else seen the "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources" error message appear when Excel isn't even open? It keeps happening to me, and it's the strangest thing.
It seems like interacting with Excel files sometimes prompts it - for example, I just turned on my computer this morning, checked my email, and then opened Google Chrome to upload some Excel files. Excel hasn't been opened at any point since the machine
booted up, but this Excel error popped up while I was uploading the files.
Checked the Task Manager because I was baffled (not that this is the first time it's happened), and there's no Excel application running, just that silly error message. Choose OK on that error and a VBA run-time error message appears (not even sure if it's
Excel VBA or Word/Outlook but I assume it's Excel - it's the good old 1004, application-defined or object-defined error).
Debug is greyed out, so it won't let me debug to see what the problem is. Choosing End brings the "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources" message back for one final performance.
This happens on a not-infrequent basis: Excel isn't open, and I randomly get this set of Excel errors: 1) "cannot complete task", 2) VBA run-time, 3) "cannot complete task" again. Then it's done, until the next time it happens. Weird.
I have 32-bit Windows 7 and Excel 2013/2010/2007/2003/2002 (I know!) but the issue only started after installing 2013. I also get the "cannot complete this task" message regularly when working in Excel (generally with Power Pivot or something legitimately
memory-hungry though), and restarting the application does the trick. I don't mind a heads-up when I'm gobbling up too many resources, but when Excel's not even open, it's a bit ridiculous. It's like I have a zombie Excel! Does interacting with Excel files
via upload/moving around Windows Explorer actually trigger some sort of Excel action in the background?

As the memory error messages , it can be very generic and don't always identify the real cause of the issue. We may try to use the KB that Mr. KR mentioned above to troubleshoot it.
On the other hand, if the file is xls format, we may convert to the new file format .XLSM and test.

Next, try to disable hardware graphics acceleration from File > Options > Advanced > Display section and disable Aero Themes (if you enabled) to check the results.

Thank you for your help are you aware of any apps that will work the iso 4.2.1 system that will let you watch movies on the phone. Also I tried to down load something else the other day and got message that Safari wont let you open this is ther any to see if i have the latest safari on my phone?

My daughter is currently using my Apple ID with her ipod touch. I will be upgrading her to an iPhone 4S and would like to use a different Apple ID and a new computer and still keep all the current music and Apps that she has now. How do I do this?
Make a new Apple ID for her.
Use it on her iPhone 4S for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime.
Use your ID on her iPhone 4S for iTunes and App Stores.
Sign in with your Apple ID on iTunes Store (on iTunes app of her new computer)
Authorize her new computer with your Apple ID in iTunes (iTunes menu>Store>Authorize this Computer)
Check "Share my Library on my Local Network" in iTunes Preferences in your and her computer
Sign in Home Sharing of her iTunes with your Apple ID.
Copy all the Music she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Copy all the apps she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Export all playlist as xml files from the old computer to the new one.(right click on the playlist to export and "File>Library>Import Playlist to Import)
Sync her iPhone 4S with all content she wants from her new computer (all data from the old computer will be deleted)
Are you sharing Contacts or other data from iCloud?
Be careful or ask for help about moving from iCloud account to another one.
