I upgraded itunes so I could link my i5 now itunes wont open i have windows 7

I was attempting to sync my i5 to my laptop Windows 7 os and it said that I had to upgrade the version of itunes in order for this to happen. I upgraded and now I am unable to open up my itunes at all, I can't view my music or anything is it all lost and what can I do?

Do you get an error message when you try to open iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • My itunes wont open on my windows vista!

i have a windows vista with avg security and my itunes wont open. ive tried everything i can think of.

    Awesomeness!
Search your hard drive for a file containing ITL in it. That is the file extension for the itunes database file. You might need to set Win Explorer options to show NOT hide file extensions.
Once you are sure you know where that file is, press AND HOLD the shift key while starting itunes. Keep holding the shift key until you see a question about choosing or creating a library. Choose the ITL file you found during your search.
    Is this on a Vaio?

    hi simon!
I get the standard windows error message, asing me to forward the error report to them.
is that an "itunes has encountered an error ..." message?
if you're getting that when you try to launch itunes, then the first thing we should check on is a broken QuickTime. try to open your QT. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.0.4 reinstall.
download and save to your hard drive a copy of the standalone QT 7.0.4 installer. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.0.4 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
    love, b

  • Upgraded from iphoto9 to iphoto11 using ilife dvd, now it wont open!

i had iphoto 9 (i think) on mac and i just put ilife 11 dvd in to update the apps especially iphoto to 11. now every new and updated app seems to open fine except iphoto (the only one i use of course)- it wont open and says i need to update software but there is nothing to update. i checked the 'software update' on the computer and says everything is up to date.  So did i just loose all my pictures (no i have not backed them up, that i know of anyway)
please help! im not at all computer savvy

    Repeat after me...
I will not upgrade in the middle of a project
I will not upgrade in the middle of a project
I will not upgrade in the middle of a project
Especially as big an upgrade as a whole new OS!!
O.K. for starters, have you done the routine maintenance, repairing permissions, etc..?
Have you installed the Pro Application support specifically for Tiger?
    Let's start there...

  • Since upgrading iTunes wont open Error 13014

since upgrading my iTunes I can't get it to do anything. I have completely removed all apple products and cleaned out the registry, then reinstalled everything and still getting the "unknown error occurred 13014. Is there anyway I can fix this or at least go back to the previous version of iTunes so I can still update my iPod touch?
    thanks
    Luke

hmmm. okay, if you're currently just getting the "itunes has encountered an error ..." let's try the following technique.
    preliminaries
download and save a fresh copy of the itunes 6.0.1.3 installer to your hard drive. (eventually we're going to run the install from there rather than online.)
    iTunes 6.0.1.3 Installer
switch off any antivirus and antispyware applications prior to any uninstalls, installs or repair installs.
    uninstall
use the complete uninstall instructions given in the following document to remove your existing itunes and quicktime:
Troubleshooting iTunes, iPod Software, and QuickTime installation on Windows
... and if you run into problems on the uninstall, try using the Installer Cleanup utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
    reboot after uninstalling.
    reinstall
remember to switch off your antivirus and antispyware.
reinstall itunes using the 6.0.1.3 installer you downloaded previously.
if you get the "itunes has encountered a problem ..." error message again after that install, first check to see if your Quicktime will launch. if you get an error message when you try to launch quicktime, try using the following technique:
iTunes 6 for Windows unexpectedly quits when opened
keep us posted on your progress.

  • Itunes wont open after updating. windows 7 ultimate

    Hi,
I have been using itunes for perfectly fine then when i updated it, it stopped working. The update required a restart but i elected to manually restart, but i believe i forgot to and tried to open itunes and i got an error saying "iTunes has stopped working: check online for solutions or close program." I restarted my computer but it still doesnt work. ive already tried numerous things like a fresh install (uninstalled every apple program basically). any suggestions?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you are running 64-bit Windows and the above steps haven't helped try installing the version of iTunes that can be downloaded from this support document. iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)

  • The New 10.2 iTunes Wont Open In My Windows Vista?

I used to have the iTunes 10.0 i think of what ever was the old version before the 10.2 came out. It said to download the new version and i did. and now when i try to open it, it says "This shortcut has been moved or changed" and i keep uninstalling it and everything and install it back and it still says the same thing. Any help?
    Thank you!

Okay ... so it looks like some permissions are stuffed up around your program files area.
Now you've got the folder open, can you check something further for me please? Try right-clicking on the itunes.exe and selecting "run as administrator". Does it launch when you do that?
(Trying to work out here if it's a problem with your Windows user account's permissions that is causing the messages, or if some different set of permissions has turned to custard for us.)

firefox did a restart now it wont open, i get the following message,
The procedure point js_UnwrapObjectAndInnerize could not be located in the dynamic link library
have tried system restore but this didnt help

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 15.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
