I upgraded itunes to ios5 and lost my contacts

I upgraded my iphone 4 to the ios5 opperating system. I have lost all of my contacts that were in the phone. Please help me get them back.

You have several options:
1- If you were syncing your contacts with your computer, you can "get them back" by syncing with your computer again.
2- If you were syncing your contacts using an email services, just connect to that email service (by entering the proper credentials within Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars) and all your contacts will be repopulated.
3- If you weren't syncing your contacts, your only option is to restore your iPhone from the last backup created just before you upgraded to iOS 5.
If you can't do any of those things, then your contacts are gone and you can't get them back short of reentering them manually one at a time.

  • I just updated to the IOS5 and lost ALL contacts

I just upddated to the IOS5 and it told me to transfer my purchases to my itunes, which i did. I then installed IOS5 to my iphone 3gs. And followed the on screen prompts on the phone. But upon Exploring i found ALL my contacts were gone. Any ideas? Did I just lose my contacts forever? Are they on icloud somewhere? Any ideas about recovery? I did save all my pictures and obviously my music and apps are stored on itunes.

I got them all back . Here's how.
    1. plug in your phone to itunes and wait for it to show up in the devices
    2. right click on your device and click restore from backup.
    3. Ta Da!
Hope this works. Btw this wont erase the IOS5 software just restore your contacts, notes, and such. IOS5 will remain intact.

  • Downloaded IOS5 and Lost my contacts

I just downloaded the new IOS5 to my phone and now have no contacts. I have tried turning contacts on in icloud, adding Sim contacts. On my itunes it shows no contacts for some reason. I did download the new version of Itunes before this but have Backed up my iphone numerous times  before but nothing now ?

They will be in whatever program/service you have chosen to sync.  Sync them back.
If you have failed to sync your contacts regularly, then they are likely gone

  • I upgraded to 5.01 and lost all my CD music files. Worse, I have had to change my computer and while I can see a list of files in Itunes on the new machine I cannot download them. What's to be done?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipad- without syncing : File>Transfer Purchases
In some countries you can redownload some itunes content.

  • I upgraded to iOS 5 and lost ALL of my apps even though during the process they were backed up to my Itunes. Can I get them back?

I upgraded to iOS 5 and lost ALL of my apps even though they were backed up to Itunes during the process.  Whenever I plug my ipad into my computer the apps that appear in Itunes are from my ipod touch.  How can I get my apps back without purchasing them again?

On your iPad and iPod touch tap Settings > Store
Make sure Music is switched On under Automatic Downloads.
Now restart your iPad and your iPod touch.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
You can re download iTunes purchases for free if necessary >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Are you saying that you had all your music safely stored in itunes and now it's all gone?  You might try getting back the itunes folder that contains all your music (you haven't told us what kind of computer you're using) from a computer backup, say from a day ago.  If using a mac, look in Time Machine, in the music folder for your account.

  • I have an iPhone 4s in the UK with EE, I recently upgraded to iOS 8 and lost the ability to access cellular data.

I have an iPhone 4s in the UK with EE, I recently upgraded to iOS 8 and lost the ability to access cellular data.
I've upgraded to iOS 8.0.2 with no improvement.
I've reset network settings on both versions with no positive result.
I can't rollback to iOS 7 as apple has stopped signing the build.
I realise the 4s is fairly old tech but this experience has been quite time consuming and incredibly frustrating as I still haven't managed to resolve the issue. I had been holding back to upgrade to the new generation of iPhone but this experience and the negative press has made me seriously consider other options.

Here is what you can try,
Hold both the power and home buttons until the device powers off, may take 10sec. Let go of both as soon as screen goes black.
Open itunes on your computer and plug in your cable to the computer but NOT the phone.
Once itunes is open hold down the home button on phone and plug in cable and continue holding home button until you see the connect to iTunes logo on screen. iTunes will give a msg that a device has been detected in recovery mode. Now select restore and do not disconnect until you see your device in iTunes again.

  • Since upgrading itunes, my iPad and iPhone aren't recognized by iTunes. Anyone have any ideas on a resolution?

I upgraded iTunes last week, and since then, iTunes doesn't recognize my iPad and iPhone.  I want to change some of my music, but can't change anything!!  Any one have ideas as to how I can resolve this issue?  I've tried unistalling and then reinstalling iTunes with no luck.

  • Upgraded to 4.2 and lost text clicking.

I upgraded to 4.2 and lost text clicking. I checked my settings, sounds, and made sure keyboard clicks was checked. I did a couple hard restarts to no avail. Any ideas?

Ah, okay. More info - knowing you have lost more than just the keyboard sounds is a big hint !
Get a strong light and a magnifying glass an have really good look inside the base connector and the headphone socket. You are looking for fluff.
These new symptoms have frequently been found to be caused by fluff in either socket and the phone thinking its on the headset.
Put the headset on and have someone ring you - if you hear the phone in the headset, its the socket faulty or clogged with fluff.

  • I upgraded my operating system and lost iLife. Is that normal/fair?

I upgraded my operating system and lost iLife. Is that normal/fair? I used to have iPhoto, GarageBand, etc...

Did you erase your hard drive before upgrading? If you have the install disks, you can just reinstall. Unless you have recently purchased your Mac and do not have the older versions installed, the new versions at the app store have to be purchased.

  • Upgrade to Firefox 11 and lost all bookmarks.

I have upgrade to Firefox 11 and lost all bookmarks. None of the on-line articles help. Please advise on how to recover the bookmarks. I have tried to go to the pages that I use and it will not let me bookmark them.
''[Personal information removed by moderator. Please read [[Forum and chat rules and guidelines]], thanks.]''

If you open your current profile folder, do you have a bookmarkbackups folder in there?
Help > Troubleshooting Information > Open Containing Folder button
If so, copy those somewhere safe before proceeding.
If not, do you ever back up your profile folder?
You also might navigate up a level and see whether you have any other Firefox profiles.
If you cannot save any new bookmarks, I wonder whether your places.sqlite file (stores history and bookmarks) in your profile has become corrupted. You might need to rename that file and allow Firefox to create a new one before you can save new bookmarks again. I wouldn't delete the file just yet, as it might contain some useful stuff.

  • Upgraded my i phone to os8 thru i tunes and lost my contacts how can I find them

I upgraded my iphone 4s to IOS8 and lost my contacts.  How can I find them?

    There are two likely answers:
    1.  Your iPhone has too much storage being used.  Check Settings > General > Usage and make sure you have a reasonable amount of free storage left (roughly 15% of your total storage minimum).
    2.  If (1) is not the issue, then tell us what account used to house your contacts (e.g., iCloud).  You would need to make sure that same account is set up correctly on your iPhone right now.

  • Upgraded 3gs to iOS5 and can't receive texts?

I, like many other people, upgraded to the iOS5 and I have been getting that warning that my SMS mailbox is full and to delete messages in order to receive new ones. Tried that. Didn't work. I also tried resetting all system settings. That didn't work. I have read that with the iOS5 you are only allowed storage of 75,000 text messages. I have also read that this has worked for some people and hasn't worked at all for others. Is this the actual fix or is this SMS thing a glitch with the iOs5?? ... Half of the allure of the iphone was not having to monitor the build up of my text messages and the ability to save decades of text conversations. If this can't be fixed I might be moving away from the iPhone. .. Anyways, if anyone knows what to do please let me know! Thanks.

75,000 is the new limit on the SMS inbox. Your only real choice is to delete messages.
I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Apple support yesterday. They were apologetic but confirmed that that was the new limit.
I had text "conversations" dating back 2-plus years with tens of thousands of messages. I didn't like deleting them but ultimately my choice was to delete, wait for a fix/update, downgrade to iOS 4-something, or text only the friends that used iMessage. I deleted but first I spent $20 on a third party app called PhoneView and saved conversations before deleting them from the iPhone permanently. It's actually a pretty cool app.
Now, how do I get a green-checkmark-dialog bubble for "correct answer"?
