I upgraded my Iphone 4 to os7 and not all of my application icons are visible.  They can be found by searching.  How do I put them back on my desk top?

I upgraded my Iphone 4 to os7 and not all of my application icons are visible.  I can locate them using the search feature but I would like to have the icons visible on my screen for imediate access. So how do I do this?

They got pushed to another page of the Home screen. Scroll from left to right to find them. You can then move them to where you want them.

Select the songs and go to Edit > Delete. Then, download the music in iTunes Store

Why don't all my contacts and calendar events on my iMac (version 10.7.4) stream onto iCloud? For instance, there are 470 entries in my address book but only 270 on iCloud. And not all my appointments in iCal are transferred either.
I have the same problem transfering Address book on iMac to contacts on iPhone (old version 3G - on iCloud). this is a hard wired connection

Might you have 200 entries in On My Mac groups and some of your appointments in On My Mac calendars?

  • Recovered files in the trash.  How do I put them back to their original place so that they do not keep being recovered very time I open my Mac?

I keep getting the same recovered files in the trash.  How do I put them back to their original place so that they do not keep being recovered very time I open my Mac?

The recovered files are temporary files used by Mac OS X applications. Usually temporary files are deleted by an application when it no longer needs them. If an application quits unexpectedly, the temporary files may not be deleted by the application. When you restart your computer, Mac OS X moves these temporary files to the Trash.
You can retrieve useful files by dragging them out of the Trash. In most cases, however, the temporary files are not important and it is safe to empty your Trash. Check with the manufacturer of the application if you are not sure.

A ton of songs disappeared from my iTunes, but not off my iPod. How do I put them back?

Select all the songs you want to be in one album, right click and choose "Get Information", delete the album name, if any, and type the one you want. You can also paste the Artwork in the right bottom box. Then click "Accept".

    Hi mary200077,
So you are saying all of your favorites are in IE but not in Firefox? Don't worry, that's an easy fix! Just take a look at the [[Importing favorites and other data from Internet Explorer]] and you'll be set! Post back here if you have any issues.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • I just upgraded my iPhone to OS7 and in 2 days have used all my data

I just upgraded my iPhone 4S to OS7 and in 2 days I've used all my data (I'm on a limited plan due to having multiple lines on my phone plan).  I never had problems staying within my old data plan before. I only upgraded because I was told to reset on my Macbook to get rid of a glitch in my operating system that was draining my battery after 4 hours.  Unfortunately, it wouldn't let me reset until my iTunes was upgraded to OS7.  So now I am stuck with an operating system I don't like, that is somehow using all my data, and still gives me less than one day's battery life.  I've tried turning off as many things as possible but don't know what's using the data.  Any suggestions?

You're welcome - the location settings under system services are something everyone should be keeping an eye on.
Things like frequent locations may be great and some people may love them, but they are inherently battery hogs as they are trying to track your daily movements in real time.  And those features in system services also transmit all that location information they gather back to Apple regularly.
Again, its potentially great for things they develop from it, like better traffic apps and so on, but it has a down side too.  Personally, I have had everything in system services disabled since the ability to do so was first introduced - any potential upside has no value to me personally, and the downside is not something I wish to live with.
But with the projected growth of both location based features, and the projected value to companies of location based user data, there are only going to be more things in there, not fewer.

  • Just upgraded to 2.2.1 and not all songs play

On my iPod Touch, I just finally upgraded the software from 1.x to 2.2.1. Now, only a few songs will play. Others appear to play but there's no sound. Odd thing is, it's like my last 3 or 4 purchases that play (some songs and one album--going back about a month) but older purchases do not play (only have purchased music, no imported CDs on the iPod).
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not really sure what to do. Am going to synch it to remove all songs then re-synch them back on, but didn't know if there was a better solution.
It seems like I'm reading that 2.2.1 is a little buggy, I'm wondering if I will run into other problems as well.

I would simply restart the touch and, if that didn't do it, a reset.
Restart: Hold the Sleep/Wake button down until you see the red slider and turn the touch off. To restart it, hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the Apple logo and then let go.
Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down together for about 10 seconds. When you see the Apple logo again, let go.
FYI - 2.2.1 was a minor update to fix a few little things. It is only buggy in some people's hands. Most of us have experienced no problems.

  • My iPhone was stolen and I have contacted the police who are using the meid number to locate.  How does this work and what are my chances of getting the phone back?

My iPhone was stolen.  I used Find My iPhone app to lock it and display a message.  The phone has not connected to the internet to locate it.  I contacted the police and they have taken my meid number.  How does this work and what are my chances of getting the phone back?  Are there other ways the theif can use it.  I was told once they put in a new sim card and use it, whatever software the police have, it will show up.

Honestly? In the US (I can't speak to other countries, though I doubt it works much differently in a lot of the world) The police took your report and filed it either in their computers or, on paper. They will now not think of this again. The only time it will cross anyones mind is if, in the course of entering information into evidence about items recovered or seized at a crime scene, the serial number of an iPhone that was found/seized happens to match yours, in which case you will be contacted.
The police in the US can and will do nothing to 'blok' the phone and it's not worth their time to try and locate it unless you know for a fact that it was stolen by a big time drug lord, master criminal, or some other such prime target and they can get a court order to track the location of the phone in order to locate this individual for your own purposes.  If they do that, they'll probably keep him under surveilance for a year or so before they act.
Basically, the police don't care about your phone. If they find it, they will give it back to you. They are not, however, going to go looking for it. They have better things to do.
I'm sorry, but that's the way it is.

  • My iPod reset itself and converted all of my music into files on the iPod's hard drive. How do I access them and get them back?

I made the mistake of disconnecting my iPod from my computer without ejecting it and now all of my music, podcasts and other files are listed as "other" in the iPod summary section. I can't access the files outside of iTunes (when the iPod is just being used as an external hard drive), so I need to know if there's any kind of third party program or other technique I can use to get this stuff back.

  • After an automatic upgrade, all my bookmarks are gone, none of the troubleshooting answers help - how do I get them back?

I just simply turned on my computer and clicked FireFox as always. Looks like some updates installed and now all my bookmarks are gone. I've looked at all related troubleshooting answers and nothing works. How do i get my bookmarks back?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • After 2.0 Upgrade original iPhone WiFi unstable and not connecting

I upgraded my original iPhone (8GB) to OS 2.0. I had some issues getting it upgraded with "problems accessing the iTunes Store" but once thoese resolved seemed ok. Even bought and synced Super Monkeyball.
I now notice that in my home where I have two airports (old G Extreme and a G Express) neither will connect to the iPhone for more than a few seconds and for the most part the phone doesn't see them.
Anyone have this issue and any suggestions for resolving?

Hi Menk - do me a favor will you? Go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > and then scroll down to "Calendars". Question: How many sub-functions do you see?
After I did the upgrade, I have two sub-functions. I look at the same path on a 3G iPhone, and see they have three. The 3rd sub-function is "Calendar Type". Do you have that on your upgraded iPhone?
Also, when you are in the Calendar apps, on the top left hand corner. do you have a "Calendar" button? I don't have one after my upgrade but I see that 3G does.
Look forward to hear from you ...

  • My videos uploaded on to iPhoto are gone! And I had deleted them from my iPhone thinking they were okay since they were in my library. How do I get them back?

I uploaded videos from my iphone to iphoto. iPhoto then asked me if I wanted to keep or delete videos on my iPhone. I said delete, thinking my videos were now safely uploaded on to iPhoto. I then ejected my iPhone and began uploading a video from my sister's iPhone on to iPhoto. I clicked import selected and iPhoto said it was finishing import. I gave it a minute and tried importing again. I got the same message. I assumed it was still importing my sister's photos to be selected so I restarted my computer, in order to start over. When my computer came back on all of the videos were gone. I tried repairing library and that didn't work. iPhoto keeps asking me to select a library and I can see my original library there but when I click import it won't do anything. I created a new library and tried repairing from there. It did not work.
What can I do? These videos were priceless.
    Thank you in advance.

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. How many libraries are listed in the resulting window?
