I upgraded to an iPhone 4 and can't set it up from a backup of my 3GS.
Hello all.
I just upgraded from a 3gs to an iPhone 4. The guy at the store said when I came home, I could just set up my new phone from a back up of my old phone. When I choose to restore from backup, the backup of my 3gs isn't there... when I go to the advanced settings and look at the backups there, it IS there... Why can't I choose this backup!?

My hard drive recently crashed and I cannot recover it. I have a new hard drive and have re-installed iTunes, I have authorised this PC already and I used to have my iphone with "manually manage music", now I can't add nor set "manually manage music" to my iphone without having to erase it, I don't want to have to erase my iphone and have to re-download everything. What can I do? I have very slow internet and it will take weeks if not months to re-download all of my stuff/apps/songs again.

i have recently upgraded to 7.0.2 and can no longer charge my iphone 4 as i recieve the message this accessory may not be supported, any advice would be appreciated
i have also tried 4 different chargers both official apple and non officiali have tried this but still not working i found a way of fixing it by restoring the phone but this has now put my phone in recovery mode and when i try to fix it i get an error 14 which i have no clue what it means

I recently upgraded to an iPhone 5 and I have this synced with my previous iCloud account. My problem is my old iPhone 4 is taking up 2.5 GB of space in the cloud. Is there a way to delete this iphone from the icloud so I can free up space as it is not needed anymore?

Assuming you have finished with your old backup.....
You can see what your iCloud storage is used for and delete any unwanted content at settings > iCloud > backup & storage > manage...... -
I just upgraded to the iPhone 6 and before I delete my old phone, I want to make sure all my photos were in icloud, but I can't find them anywhere. Why? I know it may take weeks to download my 14,000 pics, but I want to make sure they're there.
Extract the photos from the phone to your computer like you would with any other digital camera.
PhotoStream is NOT permanent storage and iCloud photos is in beta, meaning it's not fully cooked yet and you may lose data stored in it. -
My husband and I have upgraded our phones (iPhone 4s and iPhone 5) to the iPhone 5s. We have given 2 of our kids the "old" phones and want to set them up as an iPod touch. Both kids have email and need to be able to text (iMessage).
I have read multiple posts on how to do this and I am still confused.
Apple ID/ICoud:
We want to be able to monitor what they do, but do not want their devices linked to our emails/contacts/etc... Each kid has their own email account. So, from what I have read the best way to do this is to use our family Apple ID, but set them up with a separate iCloud account? Is this correct?
Reset/Restore/DFU:
To start fresh we have done multiple factory resets. I did one that someone said was a DFU and a plan ol' factory reset, etc... Not sure the difference. However, when I do that I get the "hello" screen and am able to start setting the phone up anew. However, when I go to set the phone up as an iPod I end with the same result.
So, here is what I am doing (tell me what I am doing wrong):
Hello Screen
Asks me to select language and selecting: English
Select Your Country or Region: United States
Choose a Wi-Fi Network: select my home wi-fi network
Enter password: entered my home wi-fi network password
Activiate iPhone - wants me to enter Apple ID and Passwordsays that this iphone is currently linked to an Apple ID (k*******@gmail.com). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPhone.
Location Services - I have enabled location services
Set Up iPhone
Set Up as New iPhone
Apple ID
Options are to sign in with your Apple ID or Create a Free Apple ID
Or I could "skip this step"
I signed in with my Apple ID
Terms and Conditions - Agree
iCloud - I can select either to use iCloud or Don't Use iCloud - I selected use iCloud
Find My iPhone - I can select either to use find my iPhone or to not - I selected use find my iphone
Once I do this it says iMessage and FaceTime and shows the following:
my email
my other child's cell phone number
and my husband's work phone number
This is where things do not make sense. I only want the phone set up with the current child's email address. Where did I go wrong?There are a number of Apple services: iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud, Game center, Find My iPad, etc.
Now, to share apps, music and books you need to have the same Apple ID:
iPad's Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Your purchasing Apple ID.
For the other service, your wife should have her own Apple ID.
All she needs is a valid e-mail address, apply Apple ID below:

This is an example of how you can select the exact content that you want to sync to your device. You do not have to sync the entire iTunes library. You can pick and choose the music, apps, books and so on that you want to sync. This is using music as an example.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on only the albums or playlists that you want to sync.
Click on the Sync Music Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
You can do this with apps, books, movies .... Whatever .... You have the freedom to sync whatever you want. -
My Mac OS X (10.5.8) what steps do I take to up grade? I have an iphone 5, and can't update my phone using itunes.

I just upgraded to an iPhone 5S and it is going haywire whenever I use it. It will randomly open applications, send emails suddenly before I am finished writing them, and much more. Is there a way to resolve this without returning the phone?

Our iOS devices use a capacitive touch screen and with it being winter in most places, a buildup of static electricity can cause the touch screen to act erratic. Start with closing all applications open in multitasking and power cycling the device. If using a screen protector, remove it and test without it installed. Some cases that include a screen protector can cause this issue as well. Try the remainder of the steps in the attached article below. If the issue persists, a restore as new may been needed. Make sure to backup your data prior to a restore.

Hi Chris thanks for the reply , my iMessage was working until I listened to voda domes instructions to do a network reset now it's says waiting for activation , I have reset the phone I have a SIM card change as Vodafone thought my SIM card was faulty and took the phone back to the shop and changed it for a new one , I've been on many forum sites and a lot of people are having the same problem as I can send a txt message bit can't receive them Andy account is set up correctly on vodafones side ... I am we'll and truly lost for ideas on what to do .

When I set up my iPhone, I accidentally put in an apple ID that doesn't exist. Therefor, I don't know the password and can't delete my account from iCloud. I was trying to sync my contacts to my iPad and now it's not possible without iCloud on my phone. Can anybody help?
Have you tried changing the admin password in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Password ??
The Apple ID that is associated with your admin password is noted there.

Just the name? Don't ever recall that being a feature. However, for Mail and Messages (and a few other apps): Settings app > General > Text Size
