I upgraded to iTunes 10.7.  Nothing syncs now.  How do I fix this?

Everything worked fine until I upgraded to iTunes 10.7.  I cannot sync my iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad 2, and iPad 3.  I get all sorts of odd messages.  For example: cannot start a session because iPhone cannot be found; cannot sync because a session cannot be started, etc.  Yet, both devices appear in the iTunes device list.  I tried suggestions from other threads.  These did not work at all and caused me to lose data from my iPod Touch.  I dread the thought of losing data and am deeply disappointed that Apple would release an iTunes upgrade that would to this.  I deleted my backups, restarted the Apple Mobile Device service, etc.  Nothing worked.  What do I do now?

1. Tried rebooting iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPods - didn't wok.
2. Tried rebooting PC with Win 7 - didn't work.
3. Tried turning Apple Mobile Service off and on - didn't work.
4. Tried deleting backup files and then trying to back up the devices again - didn't work.
5. Tried re-installing iPod Touch - didn't work.
6. Tried running iTunes as administrator - didn't work.
7. Tried de-installing and reinstall fresh copy of iTunes 10.7 - didn't work.
8. Tried plugging in each device into new USB port - didn't work.
9. Tried copying with apps, music, photos, etc. unchecked - didn't work.
Messages received:
1. Unable to sync because cannot start session.
2. Cannot connect to device.
Everything synced fine before the 10.7 upgrade.
Nothing syncs after the 10.7 upgrade.
Spent hours last night and today trying to get this stuff to work.
What did Apple do to create this mess?  How can it be corrected?

    YOU ARE IN RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
    DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
    Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

    Might help to start by providing the exact wording of the message.  What is provided above simply is not what iTunes is saying, no such message appears in iTunes.

    I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
    Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.
    No answers here, but you are definitely not alone with this issue.

    See if any of the following fix it.
    Try logging out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and tap 'Sign Out' on the popup and then log back in.
    If that doesn't fix it then try closing the iTunes store app via the phone's multitasking bar and see if it works properly when you open the app : double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag iTunes from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and the click the home button to close the taskbar.
    A third thing to try is a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

    If I understand your question, you are trying to update your iPhone, but you are seeing an error message that iTunes for Windows is not installed, is that right?  The first step is to get iTunes successfully installed on your computer.  Then backup the iPhone before updating the iOS software.

    Okay, update on my previous message:
    I have replaced my iTunes-folder with a back-up version of the old one. Luckily this turned my podcasts back to normal and replaced the new 'library' with the old one.
    This also solved the problem of having to erase your iPod or iPhone, which is no longer necessary.
    So my solution is:
    1. back-up your iTunes folder (located at 'User/Music/iTunes/')
    2. remove iTunes 9.0.3 completely (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224)
    3. drag the iTunes folder back to the Music folder
    4. Re-install iTunes 9.0.3.
    It worked for me.

    This is the situation with Snow Leopard and existing iCloud accounts:
    You will be able to access email and calendars on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
    You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
    You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
    You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
    Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point.
    Address Book won't sync: this page has a convoluted hack to make it sync which has been reported as working (and as not working by others). I've not tried it.
    There are a couple of alternative syncing services you might like to consider, though they're not particularly cheap:
    Soho Organizer can sync Calendars and Contacts with iCloud on Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. A single user licence (multiple machines allowed) is $99.99.
    Fruux syncs Calendars, Tasks and Contacts beetween a wide variety of devices (not using the iCloud server) including Snow Leopard and above, Windows Outlook and Thunderbird, Linux Thunderbird, and iOS and Android devices - see their compatibility chart (click the blue 'i' for a caveat about Snow Leopard). It's free for one user, two shares, two devices; above that pricing starts at €4 per month.
    (I have no connection with these firms and have not tried Soho Organizer, though both have had good reports and I've found Fruux to work well.)

    My recommendation is to restart the iPhone.  All you do is hold down the top button and hold down the home button for 5 seconds untill it automatically shuts down.  Then click the top button untill you see a grey apple on your screen.

Maybe you are looking for
