I upgraded to Lion and since then my desktop graphic changes back to the Lion 'default' desktop graphic every time I start up. I change it in System preferences, but next start up it is back to the default.

This problem just started when I upgraded to Lion OSX 10.7 and it makes no sense. When the new OS was installed, it replaced my Desktop graphic with a blue background starry asteroid like you see in the Lion promos. I went to System prefeences and changed it back to what I had, and it switches just fine, but when I shut down and restart, my graphic is gone, the old asteriod thing is back again. I don't like looking up at my name on the screen where the clock is supposed to be either, but I will get over that since I can't change it. I do want to know if anyone knows how to make your graphic for the Desktop stay the same through shutdown and restart, it is something so basic. I'd appreciate any help, Thank you!

Thanks so much but none of that helped. It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive. I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!

The old computer is a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo

In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem. Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page. Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
(I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.)

I just recently upgraded my iPad and since then certain websites will no longer open up on the iPad but i can still access them on my mac pro laptop. WHY????? One of these websites is a work related website that i really need.

I can open some websites on my ipad but not all. The websites that are no longer opening were all working up till 3 days ago when I did the update on the ipad. The websites that I can't open on the ipad i can switch to my macbook pro and open no problem. I have tried to check all settings and just can't figure out what is going on. One of the websites I can no longer open is ikea and also a work related website. I can load the opening page but when I try to sign in it won't do anything including not even an error message. I have this identical problem. For a while my group texts didnt show up on my ipad. Then one day they did, maybe everyone in the group started using the same os version or something. Ever since my first reply to the group there have been complaints of multiple threads. I can not find a pattern for when my group text's decide they want to create a new thread. (it doesnt happen every time) Everyone in the group has deleted the thread, we've all toggled imessage on/off etc. There still hasn't been a solution.

I've rebooted my mac before installing new ios lion, so after everything was done i copied my data back to my mac book pro, then simple clicked on adding to library option in itune and it only synced half of the track and rest simply didnt copy, i thought maybe some error occured and i tryed the same procedure again but its not adding more tracks in it. and i just notice when ever i try play a new song through my data it does not open in itune these are the same tracks and songs i been listening to since ages on different note books and pods..

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

FireFox automatically upgraded today. When I try to launche it, it only loads about half the page. (I use Google as my home page) It just gets stuck there. I try to close out the page and I get "this program is not responding". I can launche Internet Explorer with no problem, (I much prefer using FF, but if I can't get into it...) so it has to be something with FireFox. FF freezes, so I end up having to shut of my computer AT the computer, because it won't shut off at the desktop monitor. Windows asks me to send a report and I have. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but my Norton antivirus prevented a plugin from happening...I don't really understand it all...

Unfortunately, that is a feature and not a bug.
It's the new design since Lion - Iphoto already has gone gray before Aperture See for example these links:

and try a reset of your NVRAM. I see "NVRM read error" in your error listing near the top ...
If that doesn't help, try the Apple Hardware Test, which is on your original DVD that came with the Mac or can be run from the Recovery Disk (for a newer Mac).
Before taking your Mac in for service if none of the above works, try booting into safe mode to see if that helps. If it works ok in safe mode, you may have some incompatible software installed.

In v6 airport utility "Join a wireless network" is not available once the TC is setup.
You must reset to factory and try again using the selection options.. and it can fail or not come up.. This is an extremely poor way to setup a TC.. and you should NEVER EVER DO IT.. that is why apple removed it. Since you are joining wireless it makes no difference where the TC is located.. since it would become a dumb AP and turn off its ethernet ports.
Place it right next to your main modem router, plug in by ethernet, and select bridge mode and create a wireless network. Never use Join a wireless network..
However for completeness here is the method.

Never ever do it.
If you need internet by wireless and backup to the TC.. then simply plug the TC directly into the Mac.

Try a new SIM from your carrier. If that doesn't work, make a Genius Bar appointment and get your phone evaluated.
