I upgraded to lion but versions is not working

I have upgraded, and wanted to try versions but it is not working.  I have made multiple changes since the lion upgrade.  I got Iwork not in the mac app store because I had it before.  Does that mean anything?  And there is no software update.  Thanks

First, do a favor and check your version of Pages from the Pages menu.   If it is 4.1, that's the latest one and a different course of action/troubleshooting needs to take place to find out why Versions doesn't appear to be working.
If it's less than 4.1, we should continue investigating why you cannot update to that version.
Also, please verify that you installed iWork from the retail DVD, because if you purchased from the Mac App Store, you would have to use that to update iWork applications.
(Launch Mac App Store, check the Purchases tab on the top.)
As far as which Applications folder iWork should be located in, it should be in the one that appears when, from Finder, you choose "Applications" from the "Go" menu.
That is the only way to verify that your applications are in the correct Applications folder.  (Note: clicking "Applications" on the left-hand side bar of Finder does not verify their proper location.)
So.. if you have done both of those verification steps and you still do not see Pages on version 4.1, then you would probably want to reinstall iWork.
To remove iWork completely, you need to remove it from your Applications folder, of course... and also remove:
/Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support / iWork.
Both of those folders must be removed for a reinstall to be successful.

    Anyone can solve it?

Do you have Parallels Desktop 6?  That is the version you need to have it run under Lion.

Ouch, if it is indeed damaged, then sadly you need to restore the whole danged huge OS!
Didn't used to be this way before Lion/10.7.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • Hi.  I have Snap To Grid and By Kind enabled in Lion but it's not working.  When I trash an icon, instead of snapping the remaining icons to the By Kind grid, a space is left where the trashed icon was.  Any suggestions on how to get Snap To Grid working?

Where are you talking about the Desktop?
I don't see where it is possible to set both Snap to Grid and By Kind they seem to be mutually exclusive.
    And then
If I have Snap to grid set I get the behavior you describe. If I have By Kind set the icons stay together and close up the space from the deleted icon.

  • HT1338 Upgraded to Lion. IWork does not work. How do I fix this?

I increased the size of my hard drive to 1TB and upgraded from Snow Lepord to Lion.  iWorks 09' (keynote, pages, numbers) and iPhoto do not work.  I have used software updated and everything is current.
Is there a patch of something else I need to do to make them compatible?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • I have not upgraded to Lion, but am getting upgrade notices from my apps.  What should I upgrade or not?

I keep getting upgrade notices for Lion compatabilty but I do not have Lion installed yet.  How should I handle those upgrades?

Be very careful with upgrading to Lion. Upgraded my MBP 15" early 2011, the day Lion came out, but have been plagued by reduced battery life (i can now get only 2-3 hours after the upgrade). Rosetta support is gone. I would wait until Apple is back in the true apple mode and not like Microsoft. Lion (current version) is not worth the upgrade.
I went to the Apple store to have them check my battery, but they could not find anything wrong and incidentally both the "Genius" support technicians i spoke to had not upgraded to Lion. There needs to be a reason behind it. I bought my MacBook Air 11" (new) a couple of weeks ago. Apple claims 7 hour battery life on them. I charged my MB Air with 100% charge when i booted the machine it showed that it had 5:08 hours left on the battery. Over the time it took me to type this message, the time left has gone down to 3:58 hours left. This on a machine that apple ships with Lion tells me that there is a HUGE battery/power management issue with Lion.
I moved to Mac simply because I needed and could get long battery life. That has been defeated by Lion.

  • I have a MacBook Air (Intel Core 2 Duo) Mac OS X 10.6.8, I would like to update to Lion, but I am not sure if I have the latest version of SNOW LEOPARD v10.6.8, do I need to update to Leopard first and then to Lion or could I just update to Lion?

I have a MacBook Air (Intel Core 2 Duo) Mac OS X 10.6.8, I would like to update to Lion but I am not sure if I need the Snow Leopard, I am not sure if I have it, or if I can just download the Lion. Please help.

Select About This Mac from the Apple menu. The dialog will display the installed version.

  • I have just bought my first mac and have been told that i can get a free upgrade to lion but it seems that this is only an option in the us and canada, not the uk. is this true?

i have just bought my first mac and have been told in pc world that i can get a free upgrade to lion, but it would appear that this is only for those in the u.s. and canada. is this true? also from reading the discussions it seems that lion is not a good thing. i am already regretting my decision to go to a mac.

I have found that both Linux and Mac (unix) are capable of reading "deep" folders while win 32 will have issues, your it people are clearly wrong.  I run a network with both win/mac. And as long as the win servers/pc's that have shares are set to allow apple file sharing in their folder properties.   And the macs are set to allow smb there should absolutely no trouble with you accessing anything across the platforms, heck, from a Mac to a win pc on some occasions you don't even need to include a "domain" name to log on to, and you can create aliases and make your own shortcuts etc... So you don't have to manually connect each time you boot up etc... But that's all personal preferences I suppose.
All I can tell you is that, I do it on a daily basis managing a small business. So your answer is yes you can.

  • HT1338 How can I upgrade to Lion?  My iMac cannot support Mountain Lion but I do not see Lion in the app store anymore.

I want to upgrade my 2006imac with 3GB ram but mountain lion requires 4gb. Can I purchase mountain lion in the app store and it will install lion or will it just charge me $20 for an OS I can't use?

A 2006 iMac cannot run Mountain Lion at all. Mountain Lion only requires 2 GB of RAM, but your model has a video controller which doesn't support features required by Mountain Lion, so Mountain Lion does not support your model. The earliest iMac which can run Lion is the mid 2007 model (aluminium body). A full list of supported models is available here.
If you attempt to buy Mountain Lion in the App Store using your 2006 iMac, the sale will not proceed and you will get an error message saying you cannot purchase Mountain Lion because it is not compatible with your computer. You will not be charged.
If you are currently running Snow Leopard and want to upgrade to Lion, but didn't already purchase Lion (e.g. for use on another computer), it is apparently possible to place a special order for Lion via a telephone call to Apple Customer Support. (I say "apparently" because there have been reports that Apple told some people this was the correct solution, but early attempts to place an order were refused with Apple Support claiming they weren't selling Lion at all. I think this was a temporary situation and it should be resolved by now.) There are links to support telephone numbers here.
Apple will charge you the standard retail price for Lion (e.g. US$29.99 in the US) and supply you with a "redeem code" for the App Store. That is entered by going to the Featured category in the toolbar, and clicking Redeem under the Quick Links heading on the right side. Once your code is redeemed, Lion will be added to the list of purchases for your Apple ID, and you can download and install it.
If you had already bought Lion for use on another computer, you can re-download it from the Purchases list in App Store, but there might be a couple of catches:
    1. Some people have found that Lion was added to their list of hidden purchases. You need to unhide it first. Do this by going to your Account page (under Quick Links, or "View My Account" under the Store menu in the menu bar). If you have hidden purchases, there will be a "View Hidden Purchases" link, and from there you can unhide Lion.
    2. If you are running Lion and want to redownload the installer on that computer, you may need to hold down the Option key when clicking on the Purchases heading in the toolbar, to enable the download button for Lion.

  • HT1338 I currently have Snow Leopard and am thinking of upgrading to Lion but have heard some bad things about it.  Should I upgrade or not? What do you like/dislike about Lion?

I currently have Snow Leopard and am thinking of upgrading to Lion but have heard some bad things about it.  Should I upgrade or not? What do you like/dislike about Lion?

It is indeed all down to what you need to do with your machine.   Snow leopard is an excellent OS and as Baltwo suggests you have to check out your current apps and programs because PPC won't work on any higher OS than the one you have.
Andy's comment is very interesting and, I suspect, insider knowledge based     Certainly I would wait for Mavericks now it is on the horizon ... and then add six months or so for the bugs to be ironed out.
Good luck, whatever you do.   I'm staying with Snow Leopard.

  • I want to upgrade to Lion but have been told I can't because i don't have a intel based system.  Is it possible to change out the motherboard etc to do this upgrade

I want to upgrade to Lion but hav ebeentold I can't because I have a G5 non intel based system.  If this is true can I change the motherboard and install Lion

If you are running Snow Leopard OS 10.6 you do not have a PPC Mac as they cannot run it, so you already have an Intel Mac. The question is, which one?
Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, runing the latest version of Snow Leopard. The Lion upgrade can be installed on all your authorized personal Macs.
But in any case you cannot replace the motherboard with a different one in any Mac.

Re: Downgrading     Oct 16, 2012 2:57 PM    (in response to nbabbit2013)
I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any iDevice.

  • After my first questio: can not find the link for free download firefox 6. You answered and I used the link you send. nr 5 was downloaded but it did not work on a minimac it said the version of the mac does not allow it. What to do use the 3.6

The upgrade notification did not give a free download icon so I asked you and you replyed with an email with a link. I went to the page and could happily download nr 5 instead of 6 but well.
Now firefox gives still the notification to upgrade and what i downloaded does not work on my mac with safari.
So can i savely stay with 3.6 ?

You can't use Firefox 4 on Mac OS X 10.4, on on 10.5 you need the Intel chip.
It would be easier if you replied to your original question, so someone can see what you are talking about. There are a lot of questions asked even in a single day so we can't see what that was easily. If you need to redownload 3.6.17 then
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
I tried a search on your name and that didn't work, but you could possibly have found your previous post via the "My contributions" link at the top of
    https://support.mozilla.com/questions
I doubt that Firefox 5 or 6 would be any different, once support is dropped for hardware or operating system it stays dropped, you need to stay with version 3.

  • Upgraded to Lion and now can not see my external raid drive

I had a raid array set up in snow lepord using the OS X raid controler on my iMac. After upgrading to Lion, the drive is not reconized and there is no raid control panel (that I can find) in Lion. Anyone have a solution that will prevent me from losing all my data? Or can I go back to SL? I installed from the app store. No warning or errors. This is not a boot disk, just a data storage. Of course my time machine backup is on it too!
    Thanks,
    Tom

Upgraded and found my USB drive fine but the drives on my SATA card were gone. Found the drivers for the SATA card in the Incompatible folder.
Seems LION is fussy about some things. I have a MacPro with a VANTEC eSATA 2 port UGT-ST450CB card that isn't being recognized (It's not that old of a card either).
Hopefully the techs are reading this and going to have a fix.
