I uploaded the latest version of firefox as was suggested by message on screen, now computer is running very slow!

My laptop is getting on a bit, does it have the capacity to handle these upgrades?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

I have tried to upload the latest version of Firefox 5 times - it says it has uploaded but really hasn't. Fooey.

When i loaded the latest version of firefox i was no longer able to open PDF files with Adobie.

I up graded to the new version of fire fox .05 and no longer have my PDF open. I use Adobie. On my lap top they open using 04.

You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use another application like the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options/Preferences > Applications".
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the about:config page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.
You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu if you want to display PDF documents in Firefox with another application (i.e. not the built-in PDF Viewer).

Please assist, my notebook updates automatically with the latest version of firefox, which was done, thereafter i am having problems when i open the firefox

My notebook is set to update Firefox automatically which it did last night. Since the update, when i open the Firefox browser, it opens up several tabs after the home page. I am also unable to copy of the page, when i do try it opens up the very same page in another tab. Also i am experiencing problems with my Microsoft office programs, since the Firefox update was done. I am unable to open documents within the programs, when i do click to open a new document or try to open an old document, it automatically closes the program. My operating system is Windows 7 home Basic, 32-bit operating system.

If you don't usually get a choice of where to save a downloaded file, you can change that using:
Edit > Preferences > General > "Always ask me where to save files"
Then you may want to go directly to the source:

You should get the options to Save File or Cancel (not Open). Hopefully after saving you will be able to find the downloaded file in the location you specified.

I am having a problem viewing YouTube videos in the latest version of Firefox.

I'm on Firefox 34.0 on a Windows 7 laptop. Up until recently I had no trouble viewing videos on YouTube. I would enter "youtube.com" into the browser address and it would take me to http://youtube.com. But now it takes me to "http://m.youtube.com/?", which appears to be a mobile YouTube viewer. And when I try to open a video there I get this message:
"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (rtsp) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context."
This just started after the latest version of Firefox uploaded to my computer. Why can't I access the normal Windows version of YouTube anymore?

This problem has been fixed. I rebooted my laptop after clearing my Firefox cache and deleting all cookies. Once my laptop was rebooted, I opened Firefox and now I can access the regular YouTube site, not the mobile site.

I have a brand new HP dv8t laptop that is straight from the manufacturer 2 days ago.
Last night, I attempted to download and installed the latest version of Firefox. After installing, it worked great for an hour or so (3.4 different sessions).
Then, this morning when I came back to the computer, Firefox crashes at startup and gives me the option of finding a solution online or quitting the program.
How aggravating!
I have installed this same version on 2 other computers that I own, without any issue.

In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side.

When I try to open google plus I get a message that say my browser no longer supports google plus. I'm then asked to download the latest version of firefox. But I already use firefox 5.o.1. Not unusual but when I go to the update site it searches for a minute and then tells me that I have the current version of the software.

If you use the www.google.com/firefox site as home page that previous Firefox 3 versions use as the home page then you can ignore the message about not using the latest Firefox version on that page. 
Google no longer seems to maintain that page. 
Current Firefox 4+ versions no longer use that Google website as the home page, but use the build-in about:home page as the home page. 
Google assumes that you use an older Firefox version if you still visit that site and warns you that you use an older Firefox version and suggests to update. 
You can use another page as the home page like about:home or www.google.com or www.google.com/ig (iGoogle).

As I said, the other day I had downloaded the latest version of Firefox and after doing so none of the icons for the different websites that normally go to are no longer there. Websites such as MSNBC, MSN, Most visited, that entire strip is no longer visible. I tired resetting Firefox and still nothing. Can anyone tell me how to get them to appear again? It's a hassle every time that I want to go to one of those sites I have to type it in the search bar, instead of just clicking on it as I did before. On Windows XP Firefox shows the menu bar by default and not the orange Firefox menu button that is shown when the menu bar is hidden. 
The menu bar is the toolbar at the top that shows menu items like File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help. 
You can press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily in case this bar is hidden (View > Toolbars or Firefox > Options).
The Navigation Toolbar shows the Back and forward button and the input field where you type the address of a site that you want to visit (aka location bar) and also has a search bar where you can type items that you want to look up with a search engine (Google).

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session. 
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time. 
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.

I would strongly advise you not to let it sit in the Inbox.
When you see this happening, try right-click on the affected folder, select '''Properties''' then '''Repair Folder'''.
Large folders (actually, a folder in Thunderbird is stored as a file, so it is sensitive to file size limits set by the underlying file system) can be problematic. This is one reason not to let messages collect in one folder.
