I use firefox but I do not want it in my dock. Can I remove it from the dock and still use it?

I would like to keep firefox out of my dock so that customers do not click on it. Can I do this while I am still using it on another screen?

I have Firefox open all the time. I use two screens, one is a large flatscreen tv that has surf reports and weather reports on it. So that customers to my store can see whats going on. I use Firefox for this. I have another screen that is computer size and I use this for internet patronage on Safari. The problem I have is people clicking on Firefox and messing up the weather and surf reports. I want then to only be able to identify Safari.

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

I removed a password for a site that was not remembering the correct password for the "view password" window and now it does not guess the password and does not remember the password for that site. All other sites are being remembered.

The saved password feature worked well, but the site I had saved the password for required that I change the password. I have found no way to update the password in Firefox. After I deleted the saved password, Firefox did not ask if I wanted the new password saved. When this happened before, I removed and re-installed Firefox, and then it worked. I hope there is another way to update a password.

If you are sure that you no longer want or need OS 9, you can remove it with the procedure below.
This is the method that cornelius posted, but the restart step, which is sometimes necessary, was omitted.
In the HD folder, open the folder titled System Folder with the 9 on it.
Not the one titled System, with the X.
Select all of the contents (Command + A keys), and move to the Trash.
Open the folder titled Applications (Mac OS 9).
Select all of the contents (Command + A keys), and move to the Trash
Restart the Mac.
The empty folders can then be moved to the Trash.

I think I am a little confused. Can I have a custom RTP payload, and still use Manager.createPlayer(MediaLocator locator) to create my player?
This doesn't seem possible because the RTPManger's addPayload(Format format, int payloadType) method isn't static, forcing me to always create my RTPManager first.
Is this a valid observation, or am I missing something?

The short answer is yes.
The MediaLocator is used to identify the source, or destination for a media stream. For example this could be a file (file://c:\mydisk\audio.wav) or a URL (http://mydomain/music/audio.wav)
Ok, I get that, but the MediaLocator is also used to identify the protocol, rtp in this case, and the protocol in its turn is used by the framework to locate the DataSource. I am not suggesting what you write is incorrect, I am only trying to understand how this works the way it does.
RTP is used to transport streaming media in real time over a network (usually UDP).And that is exactly what I need it for.
The receiver of an RTP stream is an RTP receiver. Players take the datasource(created from the MediaLocator) and feed the data to the RTP manager so it can be streamed across the network or vice versa.
The vice versa part is what I am interested in. I need to handle a proprietary video format, packed as RTP, and shipped over UDP. My initial approach was to simply register my DePacketizer with the PlugInManager, and add my custom payload type to the RTPHandler (addFormat(Format fmt, int type)). That obviously doesn't work.
So what I'm trying to convey is that the MediaLocator used in creating a Player will be different, and is used for a different purpose, than the Internet address, and Port used to create an RTPManager.I need a good night of sleep to think that over. I.m.h.o. there is no reason to handle "http://host:port/video/whatever.ext" different from "rtp://host:port/video/whatever.ext". The only difference is that in the first case I can build my graph based on the extension of whatever, and in the second case I have to wait for my first packet in order to determine the payload type. In both cases I expect "DataSource ds = Manager.createDataSource(ml) to work (and it probably does for the standard payload types).
The JMF framework has a .../media/protocol/rtp/DataSource class as well as a .../media/protocol/http/DataSource class.
Is this making any sense?Not sure yet, but I certainly appreciate your help.
Note: In general you don't need to create a custom Payload for RTP.

How can I remove icons from the Finder sidebar? Transferred info from my Mac Pro desktop computer (using target mode) and there were folder icons on the Mac Pro Finder sidebar that are now on the MacBook Finder sidebar, even though these folders do not exist on the MacBook. Tried to drag them off, which is the usual way to get rid of folders that the user adds to the sidebar (as opposed to those that can be added via the Customize Toolbar dropdown menu) but was unsuccessful. I then unchecked all of the Customize Toolbar menu items and the folder icons still remained. What else can I do?

Did you hold the Command (Apple) key while dragging them off the sidebar? That usually makes them go *poof*.

The only negative to not having the original drive will be the work needed to reinstall all the apps and reconfigure to your liking. You will also have to decide whether to stay on Lion (which you should update to 10.7.4, BTW) or bite the bullet and take a leap of faith on Mountain Lion.
In either case, to simplify matters you would do well to concoct a Lion or ML bootable installer on a USB stick. In either case, you need to get the corresponding installer downloaded onto the hard drive and, instead of running it to execute the install, extract the coveted InstallESD.dmg image from which you construct the bootable installer. Find My Phone REQUIRES an internet connection in order to work. Either WiFi or Cellular Data. So, if you turn off Cellular data, you're defeating Find My Phone.

I was charging my phone overnight and when I woke up and removed it from the dock, the orage LED was still on and the phone would not unlock

I've tried holding down the power button, but it's completely unresponsive. The only thing indicating that there's any sort of charge is the LED at the top, but it still shows that it's charging, even when removed from the dock. I also tried plugging in the USB directly, but was faced with the same problem.

Perhaps then is when I start using Firefox again. I don't like the idea of having to have a different browser for each different thing I want a browser to do, that would be rediculous. What other details could you possibly need? I like having the choice to use or not use DRM material and your lack of providing that choice is objectionable, just as objectionable as it is for DRM providers, ie: Nook for PC, to not support my choice as a Linux user. I'm sure I'm going to miss Firefox, I've been using it for about 15 years now. I no longer buy any Nook books! I support your choice of not supporting Linux in this way if its your attitude that Linux users are only 2% or 3% of the worlds OS users anyway. Another reason to believev in Google, a great browser, as well as Earth, Maps, Search, OS, and digitizing the worlds libraries. All honorable endevors by what seems to be a more and more honorable company all the time. Why don't you (Firefox) fully support HTML 5 yet? What seems to be the hold-up? DRM support is part of that!

This is a good question!
Firefox has traditionally lagged behind other browsers in terms of DRM support, because DRM is a thorny issue for Mozilla. Mozillians believe in an open web controlled by the users - with users having the power to remix and create new content. DRM restricts what users can do and runs counter to that.
However, [https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/05/14/drm-and-the-challenge-of-serving-users/ things are changing]. Some [https://hacks.mozilla.org/2014/05/reconciling-mozillas-mission-and-w3c-eme/ very clever folks are working] to integrate a new DRM technology (called EME) into Firefox. EME has been advocated by many of the big players in the industry (including Netflix) - so, hopefully, both Firefox and Netflix will eventually work with EME.
EME is [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1089858 scheduled to land in Firefox 37], due to be released in the second week of April 2015. But this is tentative - so it could well be later.
