I use ibooks reading PDF documents. How can i mark text in PDFs in ibooks?

I use the application iBook reading PDFs. How can I mark text in PDFs?

For Tagged PDF the replace page approach ought to be avoided.
The behavior seen when replace page is used for an existing page having annotations is not present.
Insert of a tagged PDF into another PDF can be a problem as well. The "incoming" structure tree is always placed at the end of the existing structure tree.
Manually remediating this can become nasty very quickly.
Using the Touchup / Edit text tool on a 'good' tagged PDF ought to be avoided as well.

    Sorry to hear you are having issues with your iTunes Store purchase.   The following information should help you with this:

    To report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBookstore purchase, follow these steps:
    Find the email receipt for your purchase.
    Click Report a Problem under the app that is having the issue.
    When prompted, enter the Apple ID and password you used to purchase the item, then click Report a Problem.
    Click Report a Problem next to the item you are having an issue with.
    From the Choose Problem dropdown menu, choose the appropriate issue.
    Follow the onscreen instructions and—if prompted—type a description of the problem into the text field.

  • Using data from a spreadsheet, how can I create multiple completed PDFs from a form template?

    Note that I am completely new to adobe acrobat.
    I have a form template for a completion certificate for students who take a summer workshop where I'm working. It includes data such as their name and the program they completed. I have all the necessary information for each student in an excel spread sheet. Rather than sit here and enter data into the form 300+ times, I want to automate the process. I'd like to be able to specify the spread sheet and either have acrobat just print out all 300, or save them as seperate files so I can print them easily.
    Thanks for the help!

    Thanks for the response! I'd be interested in writing a script for it (I've actually been researching it a bit already). I'm completely new to Javascript (and scripting) but have a fair level of experience with c/c++ so I feel it shouldn't be too bad. I'll ask here for now, just let me know if I should ask a new question on the scripting forum instead.
    I've looked at the Acrobat JavaScript API Reference (http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/js_api_reference.pdf) a bit but am having trouble finding a way to read the spreadsheet's data in (I was planning on using a csv file). I found Doc.importTextData(), which can parse a tab delimited file and from the sounds of it fill in the forms automatically (though I would much prefer a c style file interface that lets me write the parsing logic). Every time I try to call importTextData it returns -1 though, which means "Warning: User Canceled File Select". When I call it direct from the JavaScript Debug Console I just get a -1, but when I have it execute when I save I get "NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.". I did a bit of research on that and modified my script to look like:
    Autofill = app.trustedFunction(
        function ()
            app.trustedFunction(importTextData);
            app.beginPriv();
            var result = this.importTextData("test.csv", 0);
            app.endPriv();
            return result;
    I've also tried running Acrobat as an administrator, but I still get the same error. I could just not be understanding privileges correctly.
    My overall plan was:
        for each row in the spreadsheet
            - read the row in from the file
            - fill out the fields in the PDF using the read data
            - save the file with a new file name.
    If there is a better method to do this, just let me know.
    Thanks again for your time!

  • How can I convert text to pdf without the pathname showing in new doc?

    Hi,
    I had this worked out in v.7 but now in v.8 it seems to be different and/or I just plain forgot how to do it.
    I want to not see the path name anywhere in the document when I make a new pdf document from a text file. It seems to do it by default.
    But there is no way to remove as a header or footer since it doesn't see it as such. So I can't look up how to do it in the help menu because I don't know what that added line is called if not a header.
    Please help. I don't want to have to keep going back to my v.7 Acrobat.
    Thanks.

    Go to Create PDF From Web Page. Change the settings to remove headers
    and footers and it will (somewhat surprisingly) affect TXT conversion.

  • How can I hide text on pdf file?

    I have a few invoices that I need to hide/blur the values. How can I do that?
    Thank you in advance.

    There is not much you can do with Adobe Reader, except perhaps using the free form pen under markups, to erase some text.
    With Acrobat you could delete some text portions.  But to blur I guess you would need something like Photoshop.

  • How can I mark texts in different colors with Preview?

    I was used to work with Preview as an editing program. Now, after the update to Mavericks, I miss some useful features. In Preview are only five colors and I need the whole palette of colors to mark texts. Do you know if this features is gone or if I merely can't find them?

  • How can I copy text from PDF and include the source filename in the pasted selection?

    I'm a biologist and frequently cut-and-paste notes from PDFs of scientific articles.  I name all of the PDF articles with their PubMed ID, a short unique identifier (e.g. 19397482.pdf).  When I take notes, I will select a few sentences from the PDF and then paste them into a text editor for later reference.
    Can anyone suggest a method or script that would allow me to paste the copied text with the Pubmed filename included in a single action?  I would want the pasted output it to look something like this, with the filename appended to the end:
    Of the transcripts that were significantly different, there was a greater number of transcripts that were down-regulated in the IVC embryos (380) than the number of transcripts that were up-regulated (208).  [20668257.pdf]
    This would really help me to properly cite information sources during the writing process.  I know there are bibliography managers that might be able to do something like this, but I prefer to read the PDF articles directly in Preview and select the text as I am reading.
    Thanks very much for any suggestions / ideas.
    jjw

    To copy and paste in a single action:
    tell application "Preview" to activate
    tell application "System Events" to tell process "Preview"
        -- Get the PubMed ID:
        get the title of the front window
        set thePubMedID to word 1 of result
        -- Copy the selected text to the clipboard:
        keystroke "c" using {command down} -- ⌘C
        delay 0.25 -- adjust if necessary
        -- Add the PubMed ID to the contents of the clipboard:
        set theNotes to the clipboard
        set the clipboard to (theNotes & space & "[" & thePubMedID & ".pdf]")
    end tell
    tell application "Notational Velocity" to activate
    tell application "System Events"
        -- Paste the contents of the clipboard to the end of the Notational Velocity document
        key code 125 using command down -- ⌘↓
        keystroke return & return
        keystroke "v" using {command down} -- ⌘V
    end tell

  • How can I edit text in pdf?

    newbie here to editing text in a pdf. I make a document in InDesign and exported it into a pdf. I tried to change the text in the pdf, using the touch up tool but it won't let me change it. What am I doing wrong?

    That depends on what type of edits you want to do.
    You can use the touchup text tool to make some changes to text (this assumes that the person on the other end has the exact same fonts installed). The touchup object tool can be used to remove images...Have them look under the "tools" menu to see what is available. Different ones are there depending on their version of Acrobat.
    Why are you having them make edits (just asking to see if there is a better way of doing this because really, you don't want to go down this road)?
    Do they really need to make edits or are they just marking up changes they want done in the document so you can do them? If that's the case, have them use the comment tools.
    There are way too many things to go wrong when you start editing PDF's. They really should be considered simply a digital piece of paper and nothing more.

  • Pdf files - how can I add text to a pdf file

    I want to allow my Google group to fill info out on a Numbers form, but the Mac users evidently don't have Numbers. I sent it to them as a pdf file, but text can't be added to it as a pdf file. There has got to be a way. I tried using Tools - annotate - add text, but that didn't really work. Any help?

    Because you are recent switcher to OS X I'd strongly recommend bookmarking and using these links, they're designed for those that have recent made the switch and for this considing it.

  • How can I copy text from pdf file to Pages or Word?

    I recently changed to Lion. When I try to copy pdf text from either Preview or Adobe reader into either Pages or Microsoft Word I get all undecipherable characters. This did not happen in previous OSX versions. Is there a fix?

    I have found that some pdf's are "protected" so that it is not possible to copy text. Does this happen to all your pdfs, or just some?
    If it is just some of the pdfs, then this might help:

  • How can I highlight text

    How can I highlight text in PDFs on adobe.ccom?

    Hi hervorheben,
    If the file is saved on Acobat.com, you need to download it and open it in Reader (or Acrobat) to use the commenting tools (including the Highlight tool). To download a file, log in to your account at https://cloud.acrobat.com/files, select the file that you want to work on, and click the Download link at the top of the page.

  • Can I create a PDF document that can be commented on by others using READER

    I have dozens (hundreds?) of PDF Books that I've purchased. Whoever created them made them so anyone using Adobe Reader 5 or better can make highlights and comments on the text.  I use the feature to correct typos and send them back to the publisher. I know it can be done because I've been doing it for a few years before I ever got Adobe Standard.
    So . . . My question is . . . How can I create documents like this that can be commented on using Adobe Reader? I have Adobe Standard 8 and I don't see this as a separate feature of Adobe Pro. and I'm hoping that I'm just missing the instructions on how it's done. I do not have any problem doing what I want using Adobe Standard 8 but I need to be able to make it doable in Reader so others can make comments in my documents.
    Thanks for taking the time . . .

    "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" or "Extend Features in Adobe Reader"
    are available with Acrobat 8 Professional / 3D version 8 or Acrobat Professional / Pro Extended respectively.
    Additionally, Adobe provides a server based service (LiveCycle ES) that "enables/extends" a PDF such that Adobe Reader can  be used for Comment, Review, Digital Signature, etc.
    That you can use Adobe Reader to comment on PDFs means one of the above applications were used.
    Because you have mentioned the PDFs are purchased PDF Books I suspect that LiveCycle ES was used.
    This server based application (which has a myriad of "modules" available) is expensive so, typically, it is licensed by enterprises that need its functionality. Examples: the large publishing houses or governmental agencies (e.g., IRS).
    If you move up to Acrobat Professional you will be able to "Extend Features in Adobe Reader" such that others can perform Comment & Review on your PDF documents.
    As Acrobat 9.x is the current, marketed release the Professional version would be available to you via an upgrade (not to be confused with the free "updates").
