Sorry, I was only able to get back to this issue today, but it worked.
Thank you again Michael for your help. It was as simple as just buyng a free book from the iTunes store to create a Books area, then I was able to drag and drop my 3rd party book there.
Still, I feel that there should already be a Books area in iTunes, but perhaps I am the only one who has updated iTunes on a computer without any previously purchased books on it from the iTunes store.

I purchased a book on one macbook in my itunes account. I tried to open it on another account while logging into itunes account. The book does not appear.
I have tried updating purchases, the bottom at the bottom-update purchases from another device. Still does not appear.If it's an audiobook then you will need to copy it over from the first computer to the second computer - audiobooks are currently one-time only downloads, so they won't appear under the Purchased link for re-downloading. If you copied it onto a device from the first computer then you should be able to copy it off that device to the second computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. If it's not on a device and both computers are on the same wifi network then you should be able to copy it over via home sharing (there are instructions on this page), or you can copy it to, for example, a flash drive (you can find it's location on the first computer by control-clicking it in your iTunes library and selecting 'Show In Finder') and then add it to the second computer's iTunes (File > Add To Library).
If it's an ibook then you should be able to re-download it from the store : re-downloading. -
Hi,
when I drag a pdf file (when working in Preview) into iBooks Author, the background colour in the pdf file changes into the background colour of the book.
This happens not consistently, sometimes the background of the pdf file does not change (and stays white), sometimes it's like the text in the pdf file is 'lifted' of the file, and put on the page in iBooks Author (with a brown/beige background).
All the pdf files are scanned pdf's, nothing comes out of Pages, Word, Excel,...

I believe this is because the PDFs have transparent backgrounds. As far as I can tell, the only way to fix it is to export the PDF as another file, such as an image file. Or perhaps convert it to Word and import it that way. -
I use Outlook for my email, and about 90% of the time when I want to attach a pdf or jpg file it failes and andout 50% of the time when I'm trying to send a standered text email I also failes and the email masage crashs. The only way I can get my Outlook to work is if I switch to Firefox. I would rater not have to swich all my bookmarks over to Firefox.
Has any one eals had this problem?That's an Outlook issue. You'll probably get better responses posting on the Office for Mac forums.

Embedding several PDF files into one using bookmarks

My concern is about embedding some PDF files wherein there are bookmarks for each file to navigate through their chapters, sections, etc. using any PDF Viewer.
I want to embed these PDF files into an overall document which creates bookmarks to navigate through the embedded PDF files preserving the internal bookmarks of every PDF file.
Minimal bookmarks example:

Which I am almost sure it can be done with Adobe® Acrobat but I do not know how to do it and I still do not manage to get it by myself. I would not prefer to do it by joining PDF files without bookmarks and recreate them because I have files with more than one hundred sections and chapters, it would be really troublesome besides I have not enough time to devote on it.

Just set up iTunes for windows but when I try to sync my iPhone to it this is what it says, I have another iTunes library on my power book. It than asks if I want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library. I used the same password on this windows pc system same log on etc..I don't have anything loaded on it. All I want is for the info that's on the power book in iTunes and my iPhone to snyc/update etc on the windows pc. How do I do this? My power book is dead to the world.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.I've never had this problem before... today I opened iTunes and it prompted me to download the newest version. I use iTunes all the time and have updated it multiple times with no issues. During the installation process it gave me an error message that said:
Runtime error!
Program C:\Program Files\iTunes.exe

An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I quit the installation, uninstalled iTunes and rebooted my computer. I now receive a similar message with a slight difference:

I did not leave anything out from the error message. It doesn't point to a specific file, it just ends with "(x86)..." Every time I boot up my computer, this error message pops up on my desktop.
How do I repair this issue? I have found multiple suggested solutions but am unsure which one is the best, and I don't want to try a bunch of different things for fear I may make the problem worse. I would like to try and fix this myself if possible but I need to know if that is really possible or if I need to take my computer to someone for repairs. recently when i was creating a playlist, i realized that i was missing music from my extensive itunes (12.0.1.26) library. i found the solution "itunes: finding lost media and downloads" and used the general approach to find the music in finder and copy it to itunes. i don't want to do this every time i find i am missing music. is there an automated fix? i want apple to develop a way to automate the fix. can it be that this isn't a problem for many people?
i ask this now because i just looked for music i thought i had but can't find. maybe i am wrong about having the artist, but it has happened on another artist too. i can't trust itunes to tell me whether i have a song or not. i don't want to keep going back to finder, especially when the instructions in "itunes: finding lost media and downloads" doesn't actually reflect my system (os x 10.7.5).
i don't want to try to do a restore. i have never done a restore on my mac (previously a pc user). and, i don't know how far back to take the restore to find the old music. and then music i have added since i lost the old music wouldn't be there.
i understand that there are so many system variables that apple would need to take into consideration with a general fix. but: i am assuming that apple's changes have caused my problem and feel that apple should do something to fix it. perhaps my assumption is incorrect.

i agree with you to some extent about not automatically installing upgrades. i'm still running lion and was pushed to it from snow leopard. the problem is that i have a hard time envisioning the changes described in an update to judge whether something is valuable or not.
i have questions about your last paragraph. i'm going to repeat it here and then insert my questions as i go. please forgive my all caps for the moment:

IT WAS ONLY AFTER RE-IMPORTING SEVERAL CD'S THAT I REALIZED THAT THERE WERE NOW DUPLICATES OF THE CD'S: THE FILES I HAD JUST LOADED AND THOSE THAT I HAD LOADED SOME TIME AGO. That is probably a lot of stuff you do not want on your iPhone. So this can be handled a few different was. For you current situation, you can delete the apps directly on your iPhone by holding on the app until it starts to jiggle and then tap on the X of all the apps that you do not want. The second thing you can do is before you sync with iTunes, look at the app section on your iPhone to know what gets transfer to it and you can deselect items that you do not want. Lastly, if you download content on your iPad and it is a universal app, you can actually download it directly to your iPhone by looking at your past purchases and download it directly from the App Store.
