Is it possible to install my PS CS5 on a powerbook G4 system Tiger. I work usually on an Imac system Lion but I can carry it during my holidays.

I don't think photoshop cs5 will work on tiger plus you say G4, so does that mean it's a PowerPC machine?

If you had a version of photoshop that would run on both, then yes, adobe allows one to install photoshop on two of your own computers.

I just purchased an IMac with lion and I tryed to install an old math program that is for winmac running systems. When I try to boot the cd it comes up with a notepad window with a bunch of weird symbols and codes but the program will not start up.

When I went to boot it off the disk while following the program instructions a window popped up with a note pad format with symbols and codes but the program would not download or open. How do I get this program to work? It is a mac compatible program by the way.

Your Mac probably does not know with which application to open the file and is opening a file with a text editor that really needs to be opened by the application itself. Try starting the application first, then use the File > open command to open the file.
As varjak paw comments, there isn't a "winmac" so that's not telling us anything.
Note that it is possible that software purchased 6 years ago may no longer run on your computer. Once we know what it is we can help more.

I have an iMac 8, 1 that I upgraded Leopard to Snow Leopard. It was totally updated with the latest from Apple when I bought and tried installing Lion. The upgrade failed, shot my OS and I couldn't boot. Had the constant spinner on a grey screen.. did a format of the drive, hdd repair and everything came back clean... got back to Snow Leopard and all the updates on it again and then retried the Lion thing... same bs... dead duck. Crashed my system one too many times. I can't see where a few small changes, mostly app related can be classified as an OS upgrade and is not compatible with my iMac. I have the stuff running on my Mac Pro but have yet to notice anything impressive. I've always used F3 and really didn't require Mission Control. Just open you app folder for launch pad... duh? I use the hot corners anyhow. As far as Safari is concerned... as a power user, Apple missed the boat on that for me.. full screen etc.. Wow. I don't like the new Mail either..
As you can see/read, I'm less than impressed with this release from Apple but I own so many of their products that I will have to put up with it for now... somehow the MS logo should apply to this release Steve.

Hi Jane, your info may still be there, look in the Users folder at root of the drive, how many users are there there?

Return to default desktop, apparent "loss" of home directory, (it can happen spontaneously too)...

Adobe BRIDGE CS 5 PHOTO DOWNLOADER freezes and/or stops working during download after 2 years of use. I have uninstalled/re installed twice, cleaned system, adjusted Bridge settings with no change. And I have found no helpful troublshooting tips in forum or on web.

Does it freeze with other type of cards. Have seem some post that suggest an imbedded CODEC on the flash card can cause file corruption in Bridge and Mac Finder.

How do you transfer from mini to imac with fire wire if iMac has Lion and mini has snow leopard

My logic board has gone on my mini(intel) and I need to transfer this machine to an iMac(with Lion) how do I do this as it doesn't seem to be working with my disc.My update to Lion was purchased as a download and the only disc I have is snow leopard to reboot.

If your Mac mini has a dead logic board then you will not be able to boot it at all, not even in Target Disk Mode. You would either have to get the logic board repaired, or remove the hard disk and either put it in a disk enclosure or connect it in some other way to the iMac.
The fact that the two Macs ran different versions of OS X is irrelevant, once you have the drive connected to the iMac you can run the Migration utility to migrate the user account and data.

Safari Bug: Look-up (dictionary) doesn't work after using Youtube on new 6.1 on mountain lion and the newest version for Mavericks

One of sever glitches that led me to "downgrade" back to mountain lion. However, wasn't thinking and updated safari to 6.1 and I now have the same problem. It took me a while to figure out, but now it is completely reproducible. When I visit youtube and watch a video. Safari's look-up, the three finger tap dictionary shortcut, no longer works. It just highlights the word momentarily but never completes the function.
I'm going to restore my laptop again to factory setting and just not upgrade the software to the new Safari update.
The main issues/bugs I had with Mavericks, even after a clean install were:
- pdf's very freezing while scrolling for a few seconds
- frequent spinning pin wheels
- other small random bugs I can't recall at the moment.

Thanks,but the problem seems to show up only after extended use of the computer.Today,for example,I didn't go to work,and turned the PC on in the morning,and by early afternoon,it was getting more and more sluggish.It finally got so bad that it locked up,and even CTL-ALT-DEL wouldn't work.

How Can I install CS5 Production on iMac with Lion?

The install seems to be going fine and then either a) crashes out or b) continues to the end, but gives an error message saying all applications had an error installing and I need to re-install.
I've tried uninstalling CS5 and running Adobe Cleaner too. Also tried uninstalling Adobe Air. Java is installed. I did that early on.
The Adobe Suport Advisor said I should open the activity monitor and close all conflicting programs, but it didn't list which ones were conflicting.
I was thinking of re-installing Lion, but I'm not sure who to do that since the iMac did not come with any OS discs.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I uninstalled CS5
Uninstalled Adobe Air
went through the library and deleted all files with "adobe" in the name (except fonts)
did a search for files with "Adobe" in them and deleted all of those
resinstalled Lion OS
rebooted
downloaded and installed Java Runtime 1.6
rebooted
and now I've just begun re-installing CS5 from the DVDs. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again!

Upgraded my 27" iMac (4 GB memore/3.2 GHz Intel Core i3) to Lion 10.7 and now it won't keep a connection to my wireless. I've had to shift over to working on my MacBook Pro which is also upgraded to Lion but showing no problems whatsoever.
I bought the iMac this summer, refurbished from Apple. I've also never been able to get it to play video ... might or might not be related to the problem here. (yes, I've updated the silverlight)
Any suggestions on what it might be or what I can try?

Have you used Software Update to update to 10.7.1. That update was suppose to fix some WiFi Issues. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4764

Imac 20" keyboard and mouse not working

Friend has a 20″ imac 2007 usb ports don’t seem to be working can’t use keyboard or mouse, anyone any idea how to get into the system to use a hardware test disc or install disc
Power seems to be going to the mouse as the red light emits from the bottom.

has anyone resolved this problem? I haven't been able to get my usb ports to work on my 2007 24" imac. it suddenly stopped responding to keyboard and mouse. during bootup, i can use the keyboard to select boot volume and/or target mode. keyboard and other usb peripherals work fine on other computers. so this indicates that the keyboard is ok, the usb port themselves are ok, but something happens during bootup that causes the computer to stop listening to the usb ports.
i've tried the smc and pram reset procedures with no luck.

Imac Mountain lion and Epson WP 4530 no utilities in download

I have just purchased the Epson WP 4530 multifunction printer.
I put in the disk but Apple warned not to run the disk if unsure of the version on the disk.
It then automatically took me to downloads at the Epson site and had detected Mountain Lion.
I downloaded the Drivers and Utilities Combo Pack 90.7MB Epson 14363.dmg
The utilities did not set up on my Imac
Under System Preferences the Printer Icon says Print & Scan
When I click onto it, there are only two tabs- Print and Scan- no Utilities, general or drivers
When I look at applications there is an Epson Software application and when I hover the mouse over it Download Navigator App and Epson Low Ink Reminder App comes up only.
I did the update from the Imac Software update for the printer and installed that but that did not change anything.
The scanner does not work wirelessly direct unless I use Image Capture, then it works
The printer works but i have to change the setting on the product printer to 6x4 rear tray if I want to print a photo.
I do not have any controls on the computer to do this.
The fax works from the printer
Should I insert the Epson Setup disk and run the chance of an older version to obtain utilities or should i reinstall the Epson 14363.dmg again ( I have it saved in my downloads) or should I download it again and reinstall??
I feel that the utilities should give me more options on being able to control the printer from my Imac

Is this the best design for asynchronous notifications (such as email)? Current design uses Web Site, Azure Service Bus Queue, Table Storage and Cloud Service Worker Role.

I am asking for feedback on this design. Here is an example user story:
As a group admin on the website I want to be notified when a user in my group uploads a file to the group.
Easiest solution would be that in the code handling the upload, we just directly create an email message in there and send it. However, this seems like it isn't really the appropriate level of separation of concerns, so instead we are thinking to have a separate
worker process which does nothing but send notifications. So, the website in the upload code handles receiving the file, extracting some metadata from it (like filename) and writing this to the database. As soon as it is done handling the file upload it then
does two things: Writes the details of the notification to be sent (such as subject, filename, etc...) to a dedicated "notification" table and also creates a message in a queue which the notification sending worker process monitors. The entire sequence
is shown in the diagram below.
My questions are: Do you see any drawbacks in this design? Is there a better design? The team wants to use Azure Worker Roles, Queues and Table storage. Is it the right call to use these components or is this design unnecessarily complex? Quality attribute
requirements are that it is easy to code, easy to maintain, easy to debug at runtime, auditable (history is available of when notifications were sent, etc...), monitor-able. Any other quality attributes you think we should be designing for?

We are creating a cloud application (in Azure) in which there are at least 2 components. The first is the "source" component (for example a UI / website) in which some action happens or some condition is met that triggers a second component or "worker"
to perform some job. These jobs have details or metadata associated with them which we plan to store in Azure Table Storage. Here is the pattern we are considering:
Steps:
Condition for job met.
Source writes job details to table.
Source puts job in queue.
Asynchronously:
Worker accepts job from queue.
Worker Records DateTimeStarted in table.
Queue marks job marked as "in progress".
Worker performs job.
Worker updates table with details (including DateTimeCompleted).
Worker reports completion to queue.
Job deleted from queue.
Please comment and let me know if I have this right, or if there is some better pattern. For example sake, consider the work to be "sending a notification" such as an email whose template fields are filled from the "details" mentioned in
the pattern.
