You could use firefox 3.6, which is old but still supported and secure. However the best solution is to give up on using Google Toolbar because Google no longer support it with firefox, mainly because it has little to offer.
You can still save google bookmarks by copying them into Firefox. Please have a look at
* [[google Toolbar is not compatible with Firefox]] <-- clickable link -- <br> which may help with some ideas and proposed solutions.
I am hoping the Norton report you refer to merely says your system has vulnerabilities, rather than that it has an actual infection (or that it has dealt with or quarantined any malware).

Try downloading and installing 6.0.2 from here:

In Firefox preferences/advanced/update uncheck download and automatically install updates. Instead check ask me what to do.

There is no download aside from the one in the Mac App Store available to people running Mac OS X 10.6.6 and newer. The other way of getting iPhoto 9 is to purchase iLife 11 on DVD. As iLife 11 requires Mac OS X 10.6.3 or newer, it's usually best to update to 10.6.8 for free and then use the Mac App Store version.

You can turn off compatibility checking, but more and more of the Google Toolbar will not work. Google is no longer supporting the Google Toolbar so you should use the alternatives.

  • Firefox 5.0.1 would cause my Free Download Manager to be disabled because it is not compatibl with the new version. What ones are compatible and free?

I have received a pop-up advisory from Firefox several times, saying that my Free Download Manager is not compatible with the recommended 5.0.1 upgrade and wold have to be disabled until the compatibility problem was corrected.
(I think that I did download it, and that was when I got the first warning. I visited my download m manager shortly afterward, and all my download history had disappeared. I think that I then reversed the upgrade.)
Since then, my emails will load only in Basic HTML, which I have several problems with. I don't know if that is a Google or a Firefox problem.
So, my initial problem is that I need a reliable and easy to use free downloader before I can upgrade and get my Standard HTML back.
What free Download Managers are compatible with Firefox 5.0.1?
While we're at it, is 5.0.1 Beta? And what is Beta?

    Solution: (Free Download Manager)
Go here: http://codecpack.co/download/Free_Download_Manager.html and download Free Download Manager 3.8.1067 Beta 3, it works perfectly with Firefox 5.0.1
Solution: (to Google mail aka Gmail)
I have had this problem for a while since I did a previous Firefox update, where I had to force Gmail to load in Basic HTML else it's next to impossible to use it. The solution is this: simply update your Java, and Gmail will work without a problem using Standard HTML. To update your Java go here: http://www.java.com/en/ and select "Free Java Download".
And beta normally, universally, means "the not quite there yet version of the version we're aiming for" NORMALLY used during production and testing of a type of software.

  • I updated my windows 7 and when I did I received a message that firefox is not compatible with windows 7 updates. What happened?

I got a message to update windows. I updated. My computer said firefox was not compatible with update. I then tried to purchase Avast and it basically crashed my computer. I had help in restoring and when system was checked it showed two different firefox downloads that had not succeeded because they were incompatible with my system. I don't know enough about computers to understand what happened. I have a Dell Studio xps with Windows 7. Thank you.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

  • I am runnung FF 4.0.1, I cannot uphgrade.because FF is not compatible with some programs I have..is there any thing I can do??

I keep getting notifications to upgrade to FF 8.0.1. However that version of FF will not run several programs I have, for which I paid good money
Also...when I went from FF 3.6 to FF 4.all my bookmarks disappeared...and two other major programs ceased to function properly......Band in a Box Ver 2007 and my antivirus program..AVG 9 Both of these programs are paid programs
At the moment I have to run these programs on another computer. I have to download Trend House call each time I want to scan this computer for viruses etc
So....as it stands......FireFox really isn't all that you say it is.......IO am not happy with it and I am scared to try another version and lose more stuff

  • My Norton Toolbar 4.6 is not compatible with Firefox 4. Now is that something that Mozilla must address, or Norton?

I tested the few betas for Firefox 4, and in the beginning I had this issue but was later resolved. Now that I saw this version is no longer in beta stage, I downloaded and installed it. Once again, I am having an issue with this extension.

Did Norton give you a time scale for when it will be available?
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6.* you can uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install Firefox 3.6.* available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • MS Word 2010 product not compatible with Mozilla? Is there a workaround?

I just purchased MS Office Home and Student 2010. I got an error message that says I do not have a compatible operating system. Is there a workaround if I only use Mozilla Firefox?

This is apparently not a Firefox related problem. The MS Office 10 setup program doesn't see your computer as having a compatible version of Windows. If you are running Windows XP, you need to have service pack 3 installed. If you are running Vista, you need at least service pack 1. Here is the URL for a support document that may be helpful: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2267642

  • I use AVG and SuperAntiSpyware, neither have been detecting cookies in the past week. If I go under Privacy tab it shows cookies. What path/folder is Firefox 4.0.1 putting these cookies? I cannot find them using Windows Explorer "Search". Thanks!

I am worried that some hack or odd software is hiding the cookies from AVG & SuperAntiSpyware. They used to detect sometimes 100+ cookies per week, now it's zero....
    Thanks again,
    dorothy

Cookies are stored in a cookie jar and thus are shared among all open tabs and windows.
Only all Private Browsing mode tabs/windows use a separate cookie jar that is used for all PB mode tabs.
Note that session restore stores cookies of open tabs in the sessionstore.js file as part of stored session data.
