I use Netfirm's CM4all. Since installing Google Chrome required for a needed software CM4all's edit page won't finish loading.

I only use Chrome for CashierLive. I use Firefox for everything else. Todate I have cleared the cache & cookies, did an exception for Netfirms in pop up blocker, did a virus scan, uninstalled Firefox ans reinstalled it. Nothing works. I get the spinning wheel and states at bottom: waiting for dwww_objectify_ca.d.chango.com

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:
http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/baddns.php
http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/hackedrouter.php
If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

All email are opened by Google Chrome since I installed it. I want to use Firefox with its toolbars for emailing pages, etc., and there seems to be no easy way to email a page using Chrome.
I tried uninstalling Chrome, but then could not open any email.

  • My Mac has started to shut down unexpectedly since we installed google chrome. Any ideas?

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and also installed Google Chrome. Since then our Mac will shut down unexpectedly. Any ideas?

    Hi, lindafrommendota.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your Mac restarts unexpectedly after the install of Google Chrome.  Here is a troubleshooting article that will walk your through some steps for this issue.  However, since this issue started once you installed a specific program, I would uninstall this program and test the results.
OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."

    Best Regards,

You need to upgrade your copy of MS Office. You're using a version that is 8 years old (at least). You can buy Office 2011, which will work. You could also get a copy of Pages from the App Store, which is cheaper and will open Word files (though not perfectly). Or you could get a free Office clone, like OpenOffice or LibreOffice.

  • Installing google-chrome from AUR broke sound in chromium

    Hi,
I installed google-chrome to watch netflix yesterday and since then, chromium sound is broken. This isn't just with flashplugin, I can't even play mp3 files from my hdd using chromium. I have since uninstalled google-chrome but that's made no difference. Any hints of where I should start with troubleshooting? I couldn't find anything on the forums or Google.

I'd try one then the other then together with first installation.  Flash was broken last year I was reading somewhere. Try searching the forum.

  • Because I don't have flashplayer installed I can't view YouTube. However I recently installed Google Chrome as an alternate browser and can view YouTube. Does that mean flashplayer installed on my computer? Or is it self contained in Chrome? Thoughts?

Because of some of the "problems" associated with FlashPlayer and the drain on the battery I have chosen Not to install it on my MacBook Air. This does limit my ability to see any media video on a website and that includes YouTube. But I decided to live without it. (Although I don't understand why I can see YouTube video on my iPhone without flashplayer) To have an alternative web browser I installed Google Chrome. Once I did that I found I can now view YouTube videos. I thought "did I install flashplayer on my computer as a result of installing Chrome?". Since I wasn't able to find it with Finder it would appear I didn't. Then I opened Safari and tried to view videos at YouTube and was told I needed to install FlashPlayer.
Now I totally confused. Do I have flashplayer or not? Is it only contained inside Chrome? Are there any consequences to my computer? Am I ultimately exposing my computer to battery drain and potential slow down problems anyway? HELP! Thoughts and opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Well... one of the benefits to Chrome is that Flash is built in and automatically updates.  I believe it only runs within the browser and it does not install in a traditional sense.  It should not impact your system whan Chrome is closed.
You can also view many YouTube videos using HTML5 instead of Flash.  HTML5 is a newer web standard that allows for viewing videos instead of Flash.  YouTube has converted many of their videos over to HTML5.  You can view them with FireFox and Safari (and Chrome if you like).  Unfortunately, I'm at work and YouTube is blocked so I can't point you to the link for using HTML5 instead of Flash.  This should be the right page:

  • Why does firefox open after i uninstalled it and installed google chrome

i uninstalled firefox, then installed google chrome. often i will be on chrome and firefox opens a window with porn sites and multiple tabs. how is this possible after being uninstalled. and this only happens on my girlfriends desktop. On mine i dont get anything like that.

First of all you need to run some malware scans, it sounds like the computer has been infected. Try running several malware scanners, you can use any of the following:
    * [http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php Malwarebytes]
    * [http://www.superantispyware.com/ SUPERAntiSpyware]
    * [http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php Lavasoft Ad-Aware]
    * [http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx Windows Defender] (If you use Microsoft Security Essentials then you will not need to use Windows Defender)
As for Firefox appearing, that implies it has not been uninstalled. The [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox uninstalling Firefox] article shows how to manually remove Firefox if the uninstaller failed.

  • I have Mac OS 10.5.8 and cannot install Google Chrome

I've read everywhere that you must have OS 10.5 or higher in order to install Google Chrome. I have OS 10.5.8 and have downloaded Google Chrome from various locations only to get the same result: "You cannot open the application “Google Chrome” because it is not supported on this architecture." Can anyone please let me in on the magical secret of how to install Google Chrome? ...or am I just doomed to not being able to use it with this OS?

Chrome will only run on an Intel Mac--your profile indicates that you have a G5, which is a PowerPC machine. If this is correct, you cannot install & run Google Chrome on that computer.

  • How to prevent Adobe from installing Google Chrome?

Hi all.  It was either this Win 7 security forum of the 2008 R2 group policy forum so I figured more people run iinto this here than anybody.  I'm a bit shocked to find I can't get an answer on this via Googling (then again, maybe Google disables
relevant search results, given the context of the situation)
As a standard build process for 2008 R2 domain-joined Win 7 computers, I manually install the latest Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash from www.adobe.com
Both products install with default settings to self-update in the future, which is done via a system service, which is what I want since I don't allow my users admin rights on their systems.  And when I install these two items I always uncheck the optional
Google installs.  However inevitably a month or two later I log onto a computer only to find Chrome installed.
Pardon the comment here TechNet moderators but needless to say, Google & Adobe [removed expletive].  If I uncheck the option to install Google Chrome and Toolbar when I first install the products, it means  I don't want the damn things on there
later either.  And neither does any other IT admin out there I am certain.
I looked in both Reader and Flash configuration menus and don't see a way to prevent this installation of optional items.  The only option is basically to disable self-updating completely (in Flash's case at least - I can't even find the option
    in Adobe Reader DC).
So with my rant and what not out of the way, is there a GPO method to prevent this, and yet still allow these products to self-update?  Or any other solution to this problem at all?  Thanks for your time.  And if you are someone from Google
or Adobe responding, please understand I don't have a gripe against individuals, just the damned company that shoves unwanted junkware down our throats.  FU larry and shantanu :)

I caught wind of some sort of management platform they have for hosting your own internal Adobe distribution server or something.  I imagine that's their answer to this issue.  Otherwise we're all chasing after a pointless pursuit - Adobe &
Google have what I assume is a multi-million dollar agreement to which a vocal minority of IT admins aren't going to find a way to reverse so there's no point in bothering with this since the whole structure of the arrangement is obviously designed to maximize
Chrome penetration to the market.  Tech support may or may not know of workarounds but since any widespread workaround would go counter to the profitability of the above assumed agreement, I am certain I will be wasting my time.  It's clear to me
the intent here is to push Chrome to millions of users via the auto-update of Flash, and so it's probably covered by the EULA as well, some kind of provision stating that if you accept auto-updating you accept 3rd party installs too.

  • 2008 iMac running IOS 10.5.8, can't install Google Chrome, what do I update my IOS to?

I can't install Google Chrome.  What do I need to update the OS-X 10.5.8 to?  How come my software update doesn't show an update is needed?

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • My automatic adobe flash player installer tried to install google chrome and did not allow opt out

my automatic Adobe Flash Player updated tried to install Google Chrome without giving me the opporltunity to opt out?

I witnessed this myself two nights ago while testing an upgrade in Windows 7.
It HAS been reported to development, but... like 99% of the people here, we (myself and the MVP user who reported it) are just Adobe users like you, so reporting it with screenshots was the best we can do.
I use Chrome myself, but only for testing webpages I build, and I've never used their toolbar, because it's an open portal for malware... hence the report filed with DEV.
All we can do now is cross our fingers and hope they have it worked out by the next update cycle.

  • Does It Safe To Install Google Chrome?

    Hey everyone,
I wondering should you install google chrome?
Chrome is made by google, and they are famous at tracking, will they put some tracking program at your mac?
they have many security setting for incoming web, but will they block danger from other website but put tracking program by themselves?
I need to sign something that required google chrome, so I need some advice before I install it.
    Many Thanks!!

Chrome is made by google, and they are famous at tracking,
Chrome was designed specifically for that purpose. It will install a plethora of root-level modifications to accomplish that task. In addition to its privacy implications, the constantly running background processes will degrade any Mac's performance.
Google derives nearly all its revenue from selling personal information to advertisers. The product they sell is you, or perhaps more accurately described as a digital representation of you.
If you don't want your personal information to be harvested and sold as a product, don't use Google's products.
I need to sign something that required google chrome,
That's a questionable requirement, and an unreasonable one in my opinion. If you are not comfortable with divulging potentially limitless amount of personal information to unidentifiable individuals or entities completely beyond your control, to be used for purposes known and unknown, beneficial or otherwise, from now until forever, refuse to sign the document. I suggest you politely explain the reasons for your refusal.

    Hi,
You may be able install Google Chrome on Vista but it will crash if your machine has Cyberlink Youcam software anyway. Try different browser such as Firefox or use older version of IE.

I installed google chrome and added it to my applications folder and it works but my desktop still has the icon of the chrome volume/disk and when i right click it gives an option to eject but it will not delete how can I get rid of it?

Drag it to the trash icon in your dock.  This is a disk image, and you need to "eject" it, to get rid of it.
