I use TB 31.4.0 on Win 8.1. I have 2 pipex & 2 gmail addresses. Sometimes all emails disappear from 1 pipex inbox. Restarting TB clears it. Why?

This happens 2-3 times a day, and either clears itself in ten minutes, or can be cleared by exiting TB and restarting. I have two Win 8.1 laptops and the same thing happens on both at the same time.

Just installed thunderbird on new computer having used it for years on old laptop. Why do my mails disappear from my inbox after a few hours. Can I change this?

I remove the flagged status and the email disappears from STARRED in mac mail. I want to keep it there, and I dont use "flags"

I have about 10 important files in my starred folder in Gmail - accessed using my browser.
using mac mail, the starred folder only contains mail deems "important" and "flags"
Not the important files I DEEMED as STARRED.
Why doe removing the flag delete it form starred folder in mac mail?

AOL by policy deletes messages in the Inbox (and also the Sent) after 27 days. To save longer, the messages must be moved to the folder named Saved that AOL sets up on the server. There is nothing in Mail to cause this, but AOL's own action.
Is this perhaps what she is having issue with?

All contacts disappeared from my iphone when trying to use icloud. What happened?

In order to set up Groups, I was advised to install CopyTrans (free version).
I have also set up and use ICoud.com through my PC to make Groups and arrange contacts.
But now I have NO contacts in my iPhone. When I close the Contacts App and reopen it, some appear. But when I touch 'Groups' they all disappear again.
How do I access all 700 contacts stored on iCould?
When I Synch with my PC (which uses Outlook) all those 500 contacts are added AGAIN and AGAIN forcing me to delete duplicates constantly.
And then when I turn on the iPhone and touch Groups - they disappear again.
I switched from BlackBerry - was this a mistake?

Suggest you consider using an app to back up your contacts. This will allow you to easily restore them if this happens again. One I can recommend is My Contacts Backup Pro, although I'm sure there are others that work as well. The app will back up your contacts as a vCard attachment to an email. Send the email to yourself and save either the email or the attachment. If you ever need to restore your contacts you can just tap the attachment to import them back to your phone.
Then, as mentioned in the other post, try saving your photo stream photos to your camera roll, delete the iCloud account, provide your password and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your data will still be in iCloud), then sign back in. Hopefully it won't happen again after that.

I would rather not re-write the old IDE's I've been using for years but rather replace them with html/xml web style pages. Konqueror will locally execute binaries with a launcher script. Firefox, Chrome, re-Konq, WebPositive, and IE Explorer will not. If Firefox or SeaMonkey would execute my binaries I could easily replace the old IDE's and save myself and my clients a lot of time and money.

That isn't acceptable. I guess that if you don't want to tell me I'll go to Opera or Chrome and ask. I could simply disassemble the code. That takes a long time. 270 Clients some running software that was written as fare back as 1979. I know I'm small, but they have families and business to run. The cost of re-developing the IDE's is huge for small business. I had hoped you would help.

Should you use only one smtp address for all email accounts?

My iPhone and iPad will not send mail from either of two email accounts. Ive checked the smtp settings and passwords several times. I have several email accounts with different providers/servers though, so should there only be one server chosen for all? Cant figure out why my email won't send! Anyone know an answer?

No. Each mail provider has its own SMTP server. And you won't be able to send email from one provider's email account through another provider's smtp server.
Each account should have its provider's SMTP server set as its Primary Server. And The rest of the smtp servers should be turned off for that particular account.

Help. My old @us.army.mil email address was terminated by the army. I used that address to register my first apple id account on my iPad. I can't remember my original Apple ID number and if I ask to reset my password, Apple sends the reset link to my old non-working email address. I have a new gmail address and a new Apple ID number associated with that address. How do I get my iPad to use my new gmail address and new apple ID number? Remember, I can't log out of my old account because I can't remember the password. Amd Apple will only reset the password by sending a link to my old, non functioning army email account. ( I hate army webmail for canceling all retired military email accounts). John Marc

Using iChat with Google Gmail address

I have a Google Gmail address. So I had my sister create one of her own. She told me what that address was and I added her to the Buddy List, no issues there. I also added my Gmail account under iChat - Preferences - Accounts. I can see that I am available. So can my sister, she sees me on her Buddy List. And I can see her on my Buddy List. So far everything looks like it should just work fine. But when she attempts to invite me to a video chat, I get the popup window from her asking if I want to accept her invite, so I click on Accept. But then it gets hung up on the spinning circle, waiting for her to connect. It will not and just hangs. So I have to simply close the window. I then try and invite her to a video chat, but she for some reason, does NOT see my invite popup window. So I had her check and recheck the settings in iChat - Preferences - Accounts. It matches to what I have set on mine. But I am still wondering why we cannot connect. The only thing we can do is text chat. Am I missing some little detail that I just cannot see ???? I have iChat version 5.0 - Snow Leopard. She has Leopard, I am thinking its version 4 for hers. Please any suggestions will help. Thanks in advance.

So Mac to Mac. (and yes iChat 4 and iChat 5 as stated)
Google ID to Google ID which both can see and presumably Text chat.
This leave the Video and Audio Port along with the Visible Invite port.
The Visible Invite port seems to work.
Or rather calling out on your sister's end gives you the pop up but she is not getting your response.
She on the other hand can not get your Visible Invite.
I would start with checking on the Leopard end that her System Preferences > Sharing does not have Internet Sharing turned On.
This is an issue for iChat 4.x.x
Both ends should also check the Mac OS Firewall
System Preferences > Security Sharing.
In Leopard Allow All is the Firewall Off
Allow Specifics and Allow All will work for iChat but it has to be added to the list if Specifics is used (iChat is NOT an Essential app so that will not do).
In Snow Leopard if the Firewall is ON go to the Advanced Button and Enable Allow Signed apps and add iChat to the List.
Next check your Routing device's settings.
Use UPnP (Universal Plug and play) where you can to allow the ports to be used.
Most will let you call out but not allow things back if the ports are not opened here.
If you have a modem that routes and a router only one should be doing DHCP to the LAN.

Also, Google 'translate this page' links do not work in FF 5.0, but works in MS IE 8. All I get in FF is a blank page, time after time.

I am using a Nvidia 4200M adapter in my Laptop, Driver 266.96, Direct X 11
In my desktop I am using an ATI XFX 6950, latest revision drivers (I am not at home right now so I cant get that info).
The issue I did describe above, but it was a long explanation.
In some flash games the game files load initially and get as far as the "click to start" button. Then the flash area usually goes either all white or all black (usually depending on the falsh game default background color) and then it stays that color. Cant see anything after hitting start (usually most games have an intro video or animation before the game starts, but I cant see any of it.
For the very few games that do start, the flash game or application does not seem to work correctly in that when the rare game starts, it wont save any game files or save files to the pc and so if I exit the game (navigate away to another page or close browser) and then later come back, even though I click the option to save games (and ensure that the flash application slider shows it can save files and lots of space) it does not save and I have to start from the beginning all the time.

My name is Bob. I also have a HTC HD 2 & a iPad. I downloaded iCloud yesterday, 27/12/2011. My iPad calendar & contacts reflected the recent changes to my calendar & contacts. When I connected my HTC synch, the cloud wiped out ALL my contacts & my calendar on my HTC. The cloud took control of outlook. I could not access outlook archives or itunes, both seemed locked. Itunes would open when I connected my ipad, but the unit did not appear listed as a device. It took me the rest of the day & up to 2 am the next day to get my calendar & contacts back on my HTC. I did this by learning. I finally tried rolling back my windows system, to no avail. Finally I after playing with the cloud control panel, I was asked if I wanted to "copy" outlook. This caused my calendar & contacts to appear in my outlook. I then deleted the cloud, totally & after many reboots was finally able to restore my calendar & contacts to my HTC. I mean, what use is a phone without contact numbers, I ask you?? So it appears that the cloud has total control of outlook & I'm not to sure how the cloud works with window based phones. But I'm not taking any more chances with apples cloud until I get more knowledge. In my business, losing my contacts & calendar is, well ouch, that hurt!! Let me how if you find out anything. No sound on web videos like YouTube, Yahoo, etc but sound on them using Chrome. Sound works in Win Vista Home 32 bit and in media players. Just no audio using Firefox 4.0 Unninsdtalled and re installed Adobe Flash 10.2.513.1

Cloud accounts are multi-platform.
You have a maximum of two activations but can use them on Win/Win or Mac/Mac or Win/Mac. The choice is yours.
