I use version 4.01. How do I backup bookmarks and then import them into my laptop?
I want to export my bookmarks from my desktop and then import them into Firefox on my laptop. The Help file tells me to open "Organize Bookmarks" 'but I can't find it! Help!
Sorry, that menu item was renamed. You want "Show All Bookmarks" now.

.Mac synch messed up my bookmarks. I really thought "merge" meant add any that weren't there before. Instead every single bookmark now appears twice, including the bookmark bar.
How do I delete everything - to start with a clean slate, and import from an export I created from my Powerbook? I think it is time to ditch synching and do it manually. I never really worked for me anyway.

To CLEAR ALL Bookmarks you can trash the Bookmarks.plist. You will find it here ...
Finder>Home_Folder>Library>Safari Folder>Bookmarks.plist
I suggest to drag the Bookmarks.plist first to the desktop an import them again from your Powerbook. When everything is OKAY than trash the Bookmarks.plist from the desktop.

How can I move all my bookmarks from different Firefox profiles (would like to move whole bookmark folders at once if possible) into one area to organize them and then place them into the different Firefox profiles? This is all under one window user account, I am using windows 8.1. Even if you have information on how to do it on a different windows, it may still be helpful. Thanks for any input you have.
Just a note about the difference between these two things:
* "export" and "import" use an ancient HTML document format that all browsers can understand. When you import bookmarks, Firefox may place them into an Imported Bookmarks folder, or into Unsorted Bookmarks. This does not displace existing bookmarks, and Firefox does not automatically remove duplicates.
* "backup" and "restore" use a more comprehensive JSON data file, which contains extra information about your bookmarks (such as tags) not contained in the traditional export file. HOWEVER, a restore completely replaces all existing bookmarks, so the restore feature cannot be used to merge in a set of additional bookmarks.

Some users find the disk-based Windows Favorites folder a convenient way to organize bookmarks. If you do, too, and you do not need to preserve tags on your bookmarks, you could export each profile's bookmarks to HTML and import them all into IE11. Organize them in the Windows Favorites folder, then export from IE11 to HTML and import that file into each Firefox profile. It sounds like you would like to be able to play audio to a set of wired speakers connected to your computer and a set of AirPlay speakers. Currently, this feature is available through iTunes 10 or later on a computer.
If you click the AirPlay icon in iTunes 10 or later, you will get a window like this:

I want to move my photos into folders, which reflect the contents of iphoto events , to a standalone hard drive. Subsequently I intend to return them a few at a time to edit in Elements. Once they are edited I may return groups to iphoto to organize into slide shows. As things stand now, my iMac drive is rapidly filling up. I do not use raw files so I want to move Jpegs and edit them.
DavidI'm with Léonie. That's a very (and unnecessarily) complicated plan you have there. As Léonie says you can just set Elements as an external editor.
To move a Library:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

How to read a txt file then insert them into db tables

Please help me to solve this problem. This is what I need to do:
1. read a text file which holds the values to be inserted into some database tables. For example it holds ename, deptno, sal, dname for emp and dept tables. These are in a text file now.
2. Then I need to insert these data into db tables like emp and dept, and check if there are dups or voilate any constraints. The records to be inserted are usually > 100,000, so I am also looking for a fast way to do this.
3. This operation happens regularly, so I need to schedule the job. I know this can be done by using procedures and dbms_jobs.
Any help will be greately appreciated.Generally, in 8i, folks would use sql loader to accomplish this. Sql loader does exactly what you want, but is an external application, so it would probably be easiest to schedule it to run using your operating system's scheduler (i.e. cron on Unix, Task Scheduler on Windows). You could certainly write a PL/SQL procedure that called the external sql loader application, and use the Oracle scheduler to schedule it, but that strikes me as more effort than it's worth.
If you're using 9i, you could look into external tables, which would simplify the process greatly.

Ummmm.hmhmhmh... I have a question, My friend burnt me a cd and I am trying to get the songs from the cd onto my ipod nano but am having some trouble. When you click up the itunes icon and then i put the cd in the (:C) drive it won't show up above where it says Amy's ipod and the ipod icon. I am trying to rip the cd but when i put the cd in the drive and have Windows Media Player up and go to the "Rip" part no songs will show up. I need some help...

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!I'm assuming that you're saying TV Shows that you add to your library from an external source aren't showing up in the TV Shows section on your iPod. If so, this is because, well, it's just the way it is. Only TV Shows purchased directly through the iTMS (that are listed as a TV Show by default) will show up under the TV Shows category on your iPod.

How can I edit budgeted cost/unit in excel and then import into P6?
I would like to edit resource assignements (budgeted cost/unit) month by month in an excel file, and then import it into P6. Is this possible?
It seems that the resource assignments month by month cannot be exported to an excel file. Is there anyone who can help me find a solution to this problem?

By the way, I foud I can use the reporting function to get the excel file with month by month resource assignment information and can edit the values, but I cannot then import the changes into P6.not sure if this helps at all, but..
when you refer to importing units (or costs) by period, do you mean past financial period actual data or future bucket planning data ?
if it's the former, you can select corresponding financial period fields (period actual units and/or cost) for export to excell. unfortunately not sure why they are marked (*) which means they cannot be modified and reimported just as easily.
an update of the same fields in the P6 database can be performed through P6 Timesheets (or similar solutions) through SDK (and possibly API or Webservices).
if it's the latter, i don't see how *"future bucket planning" or any other non-linear distribution* (which can be a bit too much and quite time consuming in p6), can be made easier in excell.
i think predefined non-linear resource curves are a good compromise, but if that doesn't suit your needs, you can define *"custom resource curves"* of your own for resource assignments using the resource usage spreadsheet.
you would need to enter values for budgeted units for several future intervals (depending on the timescale)
e.g. for months 1 to 4, you manually set budgeted units to 1, 0, 2 and 4h respectively, resulting in a total of budgeted units for the assignment of 7h.
if you then modify the 7h to 70h, the sistem will adjust the period values proportionally to the initial values, resulting 10, 0, 20 and 40 h respectively.

I have CDs that I've purchased from music stores (ie. Best Buy) and have imported them into my itunes library. The problem is that iTunes has separated all the tracks that feature another artist into a separate album. I want all the songs filed under the same album, so that when I play the whole album, I can hear all the songs. Also when the album work is not showing up on some of these CDs. How can I fix this?
The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.
It is a good idea to backup before undertaking large scale changes. See this backup tip for a suggested approach.

I have a 1.5 hour video of a concert from which I need to extract several 'tracks' as individual files, and then join them together in a new video. How do I do this using imovie?
Adobe has made this process much simpler in recent years.
No need to re-install any version earlier than the current version (CS6). All installers (upgrade or full) contain the full program code. The difference between full and upgrade is in the serial number.
All you need do is download (link below) and install CS6, enter the CS6 upgrade serial number then enter the CS5 serial number (even if that too is an upgrade).

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:

I'm assuming that Automator is the way to go. I've never used it before but from research it seems to be the way to go. Also, I'm not good at programming at all.

I have several hundred of these emails and I want to extract the information and then save it into my CRM which is Highrise (https://highrisehq.com). If it's too difficult to get it directly into Highrise then I'm aslo happy to extract the info into excel and the import into Highrise. However I do not want to have to run through that proceedure for every single email.
I'd really like some help on how to get Automator to do this for me. Or if not Automator.. any other suggestions?

Since I have the newest version of itunes, I can't back up like normally. The only way is to considilate files and then put them on an external drive which I don't have. Are there any other options? If I can't back up to a disc like I used to, can I instead just keep everything on my ipod and then if I have to get a new computer or something just download all my songs from the ipod to my new computer's itunes? Will that work? Will I still be able to keep all my songs that way?
I'm going to assume the consolidating files does not work due to hard drive space limitations.
Since you're moving to Windows 7, have you tried using the Windows files and settings transfer utility? That will move everything for you to the same location on the new computer, it also allows some control over what actually gets moved.
Alternatively, if you know the location of all of the media, it can be manually moved by copying it from the old computer to the new computer in the same location.
Also, using the Apple article on moving the library, take a slight twist on what it says. Move the iTunes library to the external drive, update the settings in iTunes to reflect the library being on the external drive, then consolodate it.
The options are endless for moving the library... it simply takes a little effort to make it happen and possibly a twist on existing "standard" methods depending on your unique situation. -

We use a doc template to create a purchased part spec document and then save them as pdf formatted files. These part spec documents are also appended with the datasheets for these purchased parts. When we want to update/revise the document, is there a method, using Acrobat, to make those updates to the pdf, or must we go back to the doc template and basically generate a new document?
Also, our resulting pdf documents aren't searchable. How can we generate pdf documents that are searchable? I may want to search for a part value or name within the body of these pdf documents, but currently can't do that...very inconvenient.
Can you assist?Not totally sure about the search issue. A lot depends on how you created the PDF and what is in the datasheets you attached (like are they graphics?). The doc portion should be searchable as long as you used print to the Adobe PDF printer or PDF Maker. For your use, it may be that the print is adequate. However, the result should be searchable (unless maybe you had a form with filled in fields and created the PDF with PDF Maker. I think the form data may be retained in form fields and the fields are not searchable. In that case, a print might be a better procedure. (it would help to know the versions of WORD and Acrobat as well as the exact process you used to create the PDF.)
If the appended data sheets do not change, then you might try opening the original PDF and then using Replace Pages to replace the file created from the DOC file.
