File -> New Smart Album
Description -> contains -> Duplicate
will find them.
Then the keystroke to delete depends on which version of iPhoto you have. All the keyboard shortcuts are under the Help menu.

  • How do I find and delete the pictures/videos folder on my iMac so I can repopulate it?

    Heading says it all

In response to #6,7 and 8.
Earlier, when I mentioned that I had duplicates in iPhoto, its because I was seeing 2 copies of the same pictures and sometimes 3...I wasn't sure why but I suspect that over the past few years I must have been doing something that copied some/many pictures to another location and iphoto had 2 copies to show me...I think I've resolved that with the apple tech guy because we merged everything into 1 single folder on my external harddrive. We then repopulated iPhoto...so everything looks good now...but I haven't gone through every single picture yet...but like I said, I suspect its ok now...no duplicates.
However! I think I understand what YOU were referring to as duplicates. I think you meant having 2 databases of all my pictures...is that correct? In that case, I can definitely see the problem with that. I don't have 20,000 pictures like I'm sure some people have...its more like 1,500. However, lets assume that was 100 gigs of info. Well, then (again if I understand correctly), Organizer doesn't actually share the pictures from iPhoto...it can't as you said. So it pulls copies of the pictures and makes its own database. That would obviously double the amount of space the pictures were using up. So in this case, I would have 100gigs for iPhoto and 100 gigs for Organizer. Is this correct???
I think I also understand why Organizer and iPhoto needs their own library of photos...its for the editing reasons...right? So if all my pictures reside in an iPhoto library, then in order for me to use Organizer, I would HAVE to import the pictures from iPhoto so that I would be able to use Organizer...to EDIT the photos...correct?
Ok, If you say yes to both those questions...then that's a relief lol.
In that case, I have to say that so far...I DO prefer the way iPhoto works with importing and organizing the photos. It also manages (if I'm not mistaken here) the movie clips I record with my iPhone and iPad. I still haven't used PSE to any great extent because I've been trying to learn and understand all this photo/video media management first.
My wife and I are thinking of buying a really good DSLR camera. We've never had a really good camera but we were recently on a trip and one of our friends had some expensive ($4,000) camera and took some pictures of us. He is also a passionate hobiest of picture taking...so he's taken courses and as such, is very good! He showed us the pictures he took and we were totally impressed!
So now my wife and I have decided to invest in a really good camera. Our children are still young and we would love to have much better quality pictures. The one thing our friend suggested was to use Adobe...but I think he said he uses Lightroom?
So at this point, I've been going back and forth comparing iPhoto and PSE's. The other thing is, the company we are planning on buying the camera from is Henry's camera's. They also offer courses on picture taking and photo editing (seperate courses). The software they use? PSE on iMacs.
In the end, I just want to ensure that I'm not short changing myself in terms of using the most versatile photo editing software available. I'm sure there are even better software programs...but probably way to advanced for us...

  • How do i find and delete the hidden .trashes folder on my sd card?

I just recently bought a new canon 600d camera and i also bought a new 16gb sd card for it.
I use this camera for videos mostly.
My card seems to fill up incredibly quickly and when i empty it, it stills says about 600mb is taken up. I looked it up and apparently its because of a hidden folder called .trashes? I cant figure out how to find this folder or how to delete it.
Ive seen a few people say you can find it somehow using finder, but my issue is that my camera doesnt show up in the finder, a program called image capture comes up and i can import all my videos from there perfectly fine.
this problem is really annoying me because even when my sd card says its 849mb full, after recording two or three clips, my camera stops recording automatically due to the card being almost full even though its nowhere near full and i have 14.9 gb left?
Im really confused and i just need some guidance on how to go about finding this .trashes file and deleting it.
As you can tell im not too great with technology so any help would be appreciated, thanks.
apologies if this question isnt in the right place, ive never really used this before.

i imported all the files in my sd card to my mac and then i did format the card, it says 160kb is used up.
I also did find files in the trash when i connected the camera to the macbook and deleted them all, there is nothing left in the camera or the trash and it still says 160kb used :/

Not necessarily. I'd suggest downloading and installing the "combo" update. That's a combination (thus the clever name) of all the updates to Leopard since it was first released, so installing it should fix anything that's gone wrong since then, such as with one of the normal "point" updates. Info and download available at: http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate Be sure to do a +Repair Permissions+ via Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder) afterwards.

  • How do I find and delete unauthorized songs from my computer?

How do I find and delete unauthorized songs from my computer?

    Terence,
Yes, the duplicates appear in the iPhoto window. I have folders with same name occuring two or even three times sometimes with exactly the same set of photos (ie photos with the same ID) and sometimes with a limited set of photos. Other  folders appear only once.
I normally take my MacBook with me if I'm shooting a lot of photos, such as on holiday, and then want to transfer them to my iMac when i get home. Other times I transfer the camera's memory stick directly to my iMac.
I have great difficulty transferring the photos from my MacBook to my iMac. I don't want to store my photos on my iDisk due to the length of time it takes to upload them.
    Thanks again.

I restored the phone so had no apps on it at all and there was still this certain amount of space used up by documents ! I've already had it in to the apple store and they didn't seem to have a clue either ! Ugh ! Wouldn't mind so much if the phone was free with a contract but I actually spent 450 quid buying this phone and it's always full of "nothing" so virtually unusable

A mysterious audio file opens when I open my browser. How do I find and delete it?

The other possibility is that someone with access to your machine (children?, co-worker?) set up all of your browsers to have that audio file set up as a default "home page". This is probably more likely than malware. I just tried with Safari, and it's definitely possible. Check out your Safari preferences and see what it shows as your homepage.

  • How do I find and delete old plugins

Since my leopard days I have been migrating data over as I updraded to the new OSX 10.9. When I start to open apps. Rather than leave a bug, and taking more time to launch my apps, how can I find and delete some of the plug ins that are 32 bit that don't work with 64 bot applications.

  • I opened "Fedex Shipment"malware. How do I find and delete it?

I opened an email labeled "Fedex Shipment Department." I believe it to be a Trojan or some other type of problem. How can I find and delete this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

It is impossible to tell where malware (if there is any) might be located. I would probably clear the browser cache and cookies (if I  was concerned). If I was really concerned, I would restore my system from the latest backup.
Apple does have code to intercept malware, but I have no clue how it works.
