IMO, wrong choice. Start over, using a FireWire cable and following the steps in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide.

Some photos not showing in my Camera Roll album, can only find them if I use 'Places' and select where I took the photo

Basically as the title says, I've noticed when trying to find some photo's I've taken in the past few months in my Camera Roll album (in the Photo's app), I can't find them anymore.
But, if I choose 'Places' (instead of Albums at the bottom of the Photo's app) and select the place/location I took the photos, I can easily see them.
I have an iPhone 4S on iOS 5.1. Based on the photo's missing, it appears it's happened to photos between 11th January to around 10th March. But I was definately able to seem them in the camera roll during that time (as I specifically remember a set of photo's I took I constantly referred back to around February. I can now only find them if I choose the location where I took them).
I've reset the unit and performed a sync, but still can't see them in the Camera Roll.
Any ideas?

If you deleted them from photo stream, the only way to get them back in photo stream on your device is to add them to the camera roll as new photos. If you don't need high resolution versions in photo stream, this can be done by simply opening each photo and taking a screenshot. If you do want higher resolution versions in photo stream your options are either to email them to yourself, then save them to your camera roll, or add them to a shared photo stream album.

All of the apps purchased or downloaded with the old ID will require that old ID and password in order to update them. If you want to avoid this delete the apps and download them again using the new Apple ID. Be aware that you will have to pay for any apps that cost money.

You remove photos that were placed on your computer via an iTunes sync by syncing again. When you sync again, after connecting the phone to iTunes, remove the checkmark in front of "Sync Photos From" on the Photos page of iTunes if you want to remove all previously synced photos or change the selection of folders/albums to be synced if you only want to remove some. I recently upgraded iTunes on my iPad, and now all my music is gone! I just get the iTunes Store, not my own music files. We're can I find them???

Help! My iPad prompted me to upgrade iTunes, so I did. Now all my music is unfindable. All I can see in iTunes is the store and recent purchases. All the other music, audio etc is invisible. Where have the files gone? And does anybody know of a better software management for music? Thanks!

Can you please clarify your problem? iTunes on an ipad is an integral part of iOS 6, so there would be no separate update.
Was the update on your computer and if so, what version of iTunes did you have and what version did you upgrade to.

I used Migration Assistant about 4 months ago to move everything across to my new iMac. Since then instead of being recognised as an iMac it's seen on the network and other places as my Mac Pro.

Hello David. Open System Preferences > Sharing. At the top you will see Computer Name and the old Mac Pro name. Highlight this and change to the preferred name.
Sometimes you also need to use the Edit button under the name. But if you change the name in the first view and then press the Edit button, it should show the new name you just set.

I just migrated my data from my old Macbook to my new Macbook Pro. All of the data migrated as my old user, so now i have 2 users on my computer under my name.
I am wondering how I can transfer the data from my old user (on my new computer after migration) to my new user on the new computer. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't use migration assistant. I recently had to move all of my files from a 2008 macbook to a 2013 macbook air. It took me three days to try multiple attempts with migration assistant. What I did was create a drop box account with my macbook (my macbook air already had drop box installed) and then move files from my macbook into my drop box folder. Once that was completed, I would manually copy my files onto my macbook air. The catch is that you need to be sure your computer sharing is enabled and that you make sure your older macintosh will allow permission to your new macintosh to see its drop box files. You can get a thunderbolt to firewire adapter. You can then get a firewire 400 to 800 cable and put the old computer in target mode. Then you can follow these instructions.

Yes, you ran into a very understandable problem.
When you use Migration Assistant, it cannot over-write the account that you happen to be using at the time. Upon migrating accounts, it will tell you that it is going to create a new one, but that message is easy to miss.
If you have three identical accounts, log in to the account you want to keep, and delete the redundant ones in System Preferences > Users & Groups.
Now that you know, the easiest way to migrate accounts is to use Setup Assistant when you first get a new Mac. That eliminates any possibility for this to occur, but most people are so eager to use their new Mac that they elect to migrate later.
That's OK too, but in that case you would want to create a temporary account whose sole purpose is to run Migration Assistant so that you may migrate your old one with an identical name. Be sure to give the new account Administrator privileges. When that finishes you would log in to the newly migrated account, and delete the temporary account.

How many pictures (or how many bytes) are we talking? Now that the pictures are imported one way to cross users is to use a removable drive (although large volumes of files preclude this).
The other is to login as the user where the pictures are, then copy them into the public drop box of the user where you want the picture.
The arrow is showing (in ths example) copy files from the Pictures folder for my user to the guest user accounts public dropbox. When you do this you may have to authenticate and you won't be able to see the results of the copy until you log in as the other user.
All users are in the folder "/Users/"

Have you set both to never sleep?
Is the source (old) Mac's software up to date (including the Migration Assistant for Mac OS X Snow Leopard update)?
Is the old Mac healthy? Have you run Verify Disk on it lately?
The estimates are wildly inaccurate under the best of circumstances. How long has it been stuck?
