Half of the people say do not buy a macbook for gaming, the other half say you can play games on it. I looked around, and apparently you can play WoW, every steam game, etc.
My question: Will Counter-strike 1.6 run well?
I really want to know, since this is almost the only game I play.

I don't know for sure but it seems fair to say that CS 1.6 will run. It's a really old game (like 7 years) so the video card, processor, ram and everything should be more than enough. I wouldn't count on CS:Source, Half life 2, day of defeat source or any newer steam game however since they all need dedicated video cards with at least 128mb of ram on them

Certain LinkedIn functions are not working. Browser keeps on looping, for instance when using the search function

I go to LinkedIn and type in a name in the search box, for instance "Peter" and hit enter.
Normally, this will return with a list of people with the first name "Peter", listed according to degrees connectivity.
Instead the web site never loads the next page. It appears that it keeps loading the page over and over again, but with no result.
In the end I have to press back or use another browser (Safari) to load the page and use the search function.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Command+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server. Any difference? If not...
2. Clear Firefox's Cache Completely
Edit > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
3. If needed, remove your linkedin.com cookies
While viewing a page on the site:
Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Remove each cookie then try reloading the page. You probably will need to log in again. Does that help?

Can you use the search function in a shared photo stream? When I try to search in the shared photo stream it goes to search in my photos.

I'm not sure there is a solution to your question, other than to not keep so many photos on your devices. If you delete a photo from photo stream, it will delete it from all your devices. To keep them, first save them to your camera roll (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll), then import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. However, given the number of photos you have, a much more practical solution would be to transfer them to your computer using an app like PhotoSync, which will select them all at once and transfer them over wifi.
I'm not sure why you're seeing such a discrepancy in the amount of space taken up by your photos. It's possible that something is corrupt given the large number of photos on your device.

Stack overflow at line: 1792 or 1788 when using the search function

My name is Thibault. I am a technical communications specialist. I've been using Robohelp html for a couple of years.
I am working on the user guide of the software application developed where I work.
This is a HUGE project, more than 6500 pages.
We're two technical writers on this project. (This is an inportant detail since my colleague doesn't get the problem).
I need your help because I have been having an annoying issue over the last couple of days.
After the project is generated, I open it in the software, clicking F1.
When I want to use the search function I have this error message displayed:
"Stack overflow at line: 1792" or "Stack overflow at line: 1788"
Do you know where this could come from?
Furthermore, I noticed that this stack overflow only occurs on some words.
I mean, it occurs for the most used words in this project.
We have customers all over the world and over the last week, we've been getting a lot of feedbacks about this error message.
I hope someone will be able to help me on this one!

All my topics contain Flash outputs. I generate my output files on a folder that is embedded into the software.When in the software, I click F1 and the Flash User Guide opens.The search function works (or not) depending on the software version (32/64-bit).

We have two versions of the software a 32-bit version and a 64-bit version.
The search function works fine with the 32-bit version.
The problem occurs when I use the 64-bit version. When I type in a word, for example "unit", the stack overflow message appears. See below:

And I never get this error message with the 32-bit version of our software.
I also wonder whether you can search on a project that contains no Flash output. Perhaps you could try for us?

As I told you previously, my Flash Player version is a 32-bit one.

Using the search function in PP CC

Using the search function in PP, can the newest software create a new bin with ALL clips the search finds, instead of just one-by-one? I know PP isn’t FCP7, but FCP has a simple function when searching... put in the search parameters, it searches, finds clips, and asks if you want to create a new bin with those clips. Click “yes” and all found clips appear in the new bin. Wonderful! So can the new PP now do this? I can’t seem to find out, so I’m asking the community. Thanks in advance for advice.

I don't know what I've clicked, or maybe not touched anything but in the last few weeks the search function and up next playlist has disappeared on the mini player. I'm using OS Mavericks, anyone else having this problem or know what to do? Thanks

With the exception of the occasional Russian and German questions that appear here... If the manual is written in English, and the questions posted here are predominantly written in English, I'm not convinced that language is therefore the problem.
I think it kind of works like this... When newbs come here, they:
1) have no prior experience to realize how often a similar question's been posted
2a) aren't familiar with the "etiquette" of searching for similar questions befor posting
2b) aren't familiar the lameness of the search engine on this forum in order to even get answers; or, they've tried it and come up with years' worth of posts to sift through and quickly move to...
3) ...posting a question because they want a quick fix -- they're probably excited about getting up and running quickly with Logic
I have always had problems with the readability of the Logic manual, and I still find it difficult to comprehend because it's really poorly written (IMO). Most, sentences in, it read, like, this. And there's a wont of illustrations (pictures are worth...).
I think some questions are so basic that they don't behoove a response moreso than "spend some time with the manual first". Occasionally I've indulged a total newb (not to single anyone out). It's maybe 75/25 that I felt like I had actually made a difference to their understanding, the poor ratio due to the fact that they simply needed to read the manual first.
Yes, it's frustrating to see newb posts dominate for a while and push more serious questions to the bottom. The occasional OT post is OK, IMO, but what bugs me more is when they predominate.

Step by step:
1. On your main vi Front Panel, create your boolean indicator.
2. On the block diagram, right click the new boolean indicator and select Create - Reference.
3. On sub-vi front panel, create boolean indicator (or use one that is already created).
4. On sub-vi front panel, create a reference (Controls Palette - Refnum - Control Refnum).
5. Right click on the newly created Refnum and select Select Vi Server Class - Generic - GObject - Control - Boolean. The refnum label changes to BoolRefnum.
6. On sub-vi block diagram, create Property Node (Functions - Application Control - Property Node). Find the BoolRefnum and move it close to the new Property Node.
7. Wire the BoolRefnum to the reference input of the property node.
8.
Right click on the property node and select Change to All Write.
9. Move mouse to point to Visible inside property node box, left click and select Value.
10. Wire the boolean indicator from step 3 to the Value input of the property node.
11. On sub-vi front panel, right click on icon and select Show Connector.
12. Click on empty connector spot then click on the new BoolRefnum. Save your sub-vi.
13. On main vi block diagram, connect refernece created in step 2 to the new connector terminal of sub-vi.
14. Save and run.

Is there a way to use the 'search' function outside the search menu

Is it possible, to activate the 'search function' outside the 'search menu' on the iPod classic ? With 30000 songs and more on an iPod, it would be great, if I could use this option i.e. in cover flow, display songs, or display albums. This way, I won't get any blisters on my fingers, from scrolling from "A hard day's night" to "You can't do that".

A couple of suggestions:
1. If you just have a few items you don't want included when you shuffle then find them in your library or playlist, pull up the info on the song/book/etc (File menu, Get info option), go to the "Options" tab and click the box that says "Skip when shuffling"
2. If there are a lot of items, then you may want to create a smart playlist (File menu, New Smart Playlist option) and set it up so that it excludes all the items you don't want. Then you can play that playlist on shuffle.

When an album has multiple artist how can you make them show up on an iPod Touch 4G? I can find an artist using the search function but they don't show up in the artist view on my iPod. iTunes shows them OK when you sort by artist.

Tech support seemed to understand the question but had no answer. Why would an album with only one artist show the artist but an album with multiple artist not show any of them. The album art show various in iTunes. That makes sense but on my iPod I would expect to see all artists.

Wish I did. I tried the group function but that didn't help in iTunes. The search function is the best I came up with. I can answer the question do you have susch and such artist. But I can't browse for an artist I don't remember exactly or have misspelled. Fortunately I don't think I've bought anything from iTunes that i already had. If you can't see an artist it's possible you think you don't have something you actually do have. Sorry, still hoping for a better work around or better yet a fix.

Can I use the search engine and run a web application under the same iPlanet 6.0 virtual server?

I've got an iPlanet 6.0 SP2 virtual server with the search engine enabled, which was tested and working. I then deployed a web application to it (mapped to "/"), and the web application works fine but now the search functionality is completely broken. Browsing to /search results in a directory index being displayed. Is there some trick to getting the two working together? I tried shuffling NameTrans directives around, but can only get either the search or the web app working, not both.

Ok, I'm going to answer my own question now...
The issue has been resolved after some additional experimentation on my part. There were two causes for my problem:
1. The NameTrans directives in obj.conf are in the wrong order when Java and Search are enabled from the administration interface.
Here's the admin server generated obj.conf I started with initially, when the web application was working, but requests to the URI "/search" returning a 404 error:

The "servlet" NameTrans directive needs to go below all others which map a URI to a function or directory (but before "document-root"), or they break. This is consistent with the iPlanet documentation on NameTrans, but the admin server doesn't get it right!
2. The developer who wrote the web application uploaded a directory named "search" in the root of his application, which caused the server to display a directory index of "/search", instead of executing the search function. I believe this issue is covered in an iPlanet knowledge base article.

I can't use the search function in both the Start Menu and Windows Explorer.

This problem occurred yesterday when I uninstalled a program on my computer. Once the program was uninstalled, everything was fine until I tried to search for a file in my start menu search bar. When I attempt to search for something, nothing comes up. Not

Yes, sometimes, we can solve this issue by editing the registry entry you mentioned above, I have a suggestion, do you have a similar system or PC which is working fine? You can export this registry entry from that PC (which i sworking fine), then
import it to your problematic PC, please remember that incorrect change in registry will cause serious damage, so backup the registry first before editing.
After finishing editing the registry, restart PC. If doesn't work, open control panel\Indexing Options\Advanced, rebuild the index.

The server at uk.search.yahoo.com is taking too long to respond.
Firstly I have had to changed my home page because google will not load. Then I can get access into yahoo itself, mail etc but cannot get any of the search engines to function. All other websites ok apart from when trying to do searches!

Mingfei is correct, you probably have no Streaming Reserved Unit configured in your account.
Dynamic packaging from MP4 to Smooth, HLS, and DASH only works if you have a Streaming RU turned on. Otherwise, you can only progressive download the MP4 files or use the Smooth Streaming encoding presets only (which will not support dynamic packaging to
HLS and DASH).
Have you tried to use the Azure Media Explorer tool to test this out again? I think you will find that it works just fine through the AME tool.
The tool will show you the existing streaming Locators on your asset and it will give you access to multiple Players that can play the video back.
You can find the installation package on http://aka.ms/amse
Once you install it, encode and publish your asset, and then use the Publish->Playback menu to test out the stream.
