I used to get my email on the postage stamp, but with ICloud on my Iphone I no longer get my mail on the postage stamp.

Do you mean the red icon with a number in it on the postage stamp icon on your iMac?
If so that red flag with a number denotes the number of unread emails you have. If you have read them on your IPhone there is no need to flag them as unread on the postage stamp on the iMac.
I take it you get the emails on the iMac?

  • Mail via the postage stamp not working

    HELP, my mail stopped working yesterday. I have 10.2.4 and have been using the "stamp" to receive and send mail successfully.
    I have communicated with Verison (ISP) and changed my password and aligned all my settings accordignly in mail preferences. One odd thing in preferences however, is that at the toggle for the outgoing portion, it won't let me say just outgoing.verizon.net, but keeps adding on outgoing.verizon.net: my name. I go in to try to change the incoming side, and only with :my name will it it lt me do so. I go back to try to change it to just outgoing.verizon.net, and it erasas the data on the in the other "user name" and "password" dialogue boxes that appear after I click on the "options" button. Which then prevents me from being able to use it at all.
    Thus there is something weird going between the toggle for outgoing.verizon.net. , and the dialogue boxes after I click on the "options" button. Please help if anyone can.

    If you have successfully moved to iCloud your ability to send/receive email via the "postage stamp icon" (more commonly known as Apple's "Mail" application) will not disappear when MobileMe shuts down as you are already using iCloud.
    RSS feeds are a feature of the Apple Mail application, not of iCloud or MobileMe. Nothing there will change.

I also deleted ALL my OUTLOOK emails in my inbox.  Can someone please please tell me if there is a way to get my Outlook inbox emails back OR EVEN the emails that were in my Mail app - because even tho I never use the Mail app, at least the emails would be there.
    When I was trying to delete the emails in my inbox for the Mail app - I followed THESE directions.  It did in fact clear my inbox for the Mail app.  But then I went to log on to my Outlook account and EVERY SINGLE EMAIL was gone.  And not in the Deleted box.  Just gone.  Here are the directions I followed that screwed everything up.  Please help.
    Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors.
    Uncheck "Store deleted messages on the server".
    At the drop list for "Permanently erase deleted messages when", choose "Quitting Mail".
    Next...
    Top menu bar, Mail > Preferences > General.
    At "When searching all mailboxes, include results from", uncheck "Trash".
    Select All = command A

    i found out my prob!
    here is what you do.
    go to the "system preferences" on your dock.
    click "software updates".
    click "installed software"
    if it shows something about a recent update about "EFI UPDATE, FIRMWARE, THUNDERBOLT" or anything like that, exit out of it.
    go to mail.
    click "mail" at the top.
    click "preferences...".
    find the account you are having trouble with, once you do, make sure its highlighted, then click the "-" at the bottom of the window (this will only effect that mail account, it will not effect your ical weather or not its synced thought that email account)
    hit the "+" (right next to the "-") and add your accout back!
    its something with that update that effected mail, i hope this works out for you, if not reply back

    i used migration assistant to transfer my info from my PC to my new iMac, but it created an entirely new account on the Mac with all my info.  i can get email on the new iMac, but everything else is on the separate login (which i cannot access email on due to a missing password.).  how do i transfer everything into the new iMac account?

    Migration Assistant worked the way it was supposed to by creating a second account. When you turned on the Mac for the first time it started Setup Assistant, that was the best opportunity to migrate your data from the  PC to the iMac and only have one user account. You can start over (recommended) or begin moving data from the new user account to the initial account that was setup when the machine was turned on. Please look over Pondini's instructions for transferring files from one account to another in:

    However I'd recommend starting over, Pondini discussed that somewhat in Lion Setup Assistant tips.

The only way I can get my Outlook to work is if I switch to Firefox web browser. I would rather not switch to a new web browser if I don't have to.
    It seems like what ever the problem is that its related the Safari web browser, because it works fine on the Firefox web browser.
    I think its some kind of plug-in failure because it giving me a LOC ERROR:
    LOC ERROR: Unable to locate localized string for resource ID 5007.
    How can I fix this Plug-in?
    And, yes my softwer is conpletly updated…

    To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
    This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
    However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
    The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
    You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

    It doesn't sound like the PDF was password protected (or Adobe Reader would prompt you for a password). Instead, it sounds like that file may be marked locked by your operating system. Are you on Mac OS or Windows? In either case, here are instructions for removing the lock icon from the file:
    Remove the Lock Icon from a Folder in Windows 7 (check Microsoft's website if you have a different version of Windows)
    On Mac OS, select the file in the Finder, and choose File > Get Info. Then, just deselect the Lock checkbox.

    A have new problem that has appeared in my Mac Mail.  When I type a frequently used email into the 'To: line' it populates the correct name but with 8 different email addresses not associated with that name.  I have gone to the window pop-down to 'previous recipients' and deleted that addressee as well as all the email addresses it is assigning to that name.  I have also deleted the account entirely from my address book.  I have have run repair permissions and also full defrag in iDefrag.  Still the problem persists.  Any suggestions?

    I noticed you posted this problem quite a while ago and wondered if you managed to have it fixed in an alternative way then posting here. It is too bad no one has posted a solution here. I have a similar problem and if you have had yours solved since this occurance how you accomplished it may help me with mine. I am interested to know what you have done about yours.
