I usually type the word "clear" and "exit" after using terminal. Is this Ok?

Hi,
I was using Terminal in my MacBook Pro to check if it was infected with the flashback Trojan but all results were negative. After confirming that I was not infected I typed the word "clear" and then the word "exit" before quitting terminal.
Is this the appropriate procedure to close the terminal in OSX? Or it is an overkill? Will these commands affect the functionality of the command line in the future?

Same issue here both with my iphone 5S as well as my iPad2. THe sync to my macbook air does not complete and it shows a large overcapacity level when connected, but once I disconnect there is plenty of room (4 GB) available, not a 20 GB overage.

Not able to edit the words "chapter" and "section" in the document workflow

I would like to point out something that could be a bug. The 2 words "chapter" and "section" are not editable in the document workflow: I can just change the title for each chapter and the title for each section, but I am not able to change the words "chapter" and "section".
The problem is, iBooks Author is using the words "chapter" and "section" (heading 1) to build the TOC: if I am using iBooks Author in English, but I am writing a text in French, I am not able to change "Chapter" into "Chapitre". The only way to go, what I found out, is to close the app, change the OSX Lion system language, log out, re-open iBooks Author and start a new book: opening an English book in the French version of iBooks Author will not change automatically the language in the workflow.
Does anybody has a trick to edit the words "chapter" and "section"?

Thank you, but it's still in english.
I changed to "only number", then wrote the word "chapter" in french or italian or german before the number, then deleted the preview on the iPad and made a new preview, I still have the same result: the word "chapter" is still in the language of the app.
To be clear: I am writing a text using iBooks Author in italian. I have to translate the same text in french, the fastest way would be to rework the italian version (I already have all the multimedia stuff inside). I changed the italian word "Capitolo" (chapter) to the french one "Chapitre" (using the advices of AodhFFXI and K T). And for the first slide of the chapter that's fine.
But if I "close down" the first chapter slide or if I click on the top left botton to go to the chapter TOC, there I still have the word in italian, even if the word has been deleted in the layout:

Can't type the word "couldn't"

I recently started using pages 09 and turned on the autocorrect feature, which most of the time accurately changes mispelling to correct words. Unfortunately, as a type the word 'couldn't', when I get to "couldn" and then type the apostrophe ('), the program deletes the 'n', so what should be "couldn'" turns into "could'". If I leave a space, then go back and correct it (the way to prevent the autocorrect from working) the spell check doesn't have problem with couldn't, but the problem is that it won't let me type it. Is this a glitch in the autocorrect feature, or is there something I am missing? Thanks.

2.1: Can't type the word "MacBU"

Since upgrading to 2.1, I can't type the word "MacBU" without deleting at least one letter. Every time I try, in any keyboard context, it ends up as "MacBI". No, I'm not just a poor touch-typist (pun not intended): even by sliding my finger from one of the surrounding letters, it skips over the U (and O for that matter, but I can still type "MacBO").
Other words I can't type: MazBU, MaxBU, MavBU, MamB, but MabBU, ManBU, and Ma?BU work fine where ? is any letter not mentioned above.
Anyone know what's up with this? Is it some sort of dig at Microsoft? Not funny if so.

The general issue has come up before. There are certain letter combinations which seem to be a problem. A bug, I guess.
With this one I found that I could type macBU fine in the To field of an email but I had precisely the issue reported by the OP when I tried to type it in the body of the email. The U comes out as an I and has to be corrected.

IPhone keyboard won't let me type the word "fixes"

When I try to type the word "fixes", the iPhone (3G, with iPhone OS 2.2) keyboard won't let me type the word "fixes". If I hold down my finger for the last letter, and move it left and right, I can see that it is refusing to allow "S" to be typed. It switches between "A" and "D".
I have seen other examples of this in the past, where the keyboard simply refuses to type some letters, but never on a common English word before.
Has anyone found a way around this, other than accepting the wrong letter, backspacing, and re-typing?

All this time, I thought it was me...I couldn't for the life of me type my daughter's name, Caitlin, into the phone. I would always get C-A-I-R-L-I-N. Again, thought it was just me not being able to hit that key right, though I don't really have a problem with anything else. Then this weekend, I finally tried to force the phone to type it right by trying to slide my finger to the "T", and it was completely skipped over. I went back and forth from "R" to "Y" several times. Nope, the "T" refused to be typed. Now that I know it's a confirmed bug, I feel a little bit better about my iPhone typing skills.

I want to hide only these two options while retaining the others.

This is becoming incredibly frustrating. It happens at random time and a restart of the computer is all that helps, then with out any notice it starts to do this again. Mac Book Pro i7 2.2 16 GB 1333 Ram, (2) 450GB SSD both internal to machine. At this point I am losing file because I am unable to save in the file type I need. Does anyone out there know how to solve this issue?

I haven't been unify photoshop much in the past month, but I did try your suggestion and it seemed to work for a while. Today when i went to save a document the same thing happened: click on file>save at this point I can not click on save even though it is highlighted. Tryed to use command s that brings up the save dialogue box, but when I try to change file type I again cannot select it from the drop down menu.

I have been backing up my photos to an external hard drive. I usually choose the photos, copy and paste them to the EHD. It has started saying "an item named "unnamed.jpg" already exists in this location. I don't know what to do.

Thanks Jim, I kind of thought that was the answer, but was hoping against hope that I was just missing something. Like I said, it's not a big problem. One work around I've found is to name a folder on the external hard drive the same as the name I give the folder to import to and then choose this folder to back up to. I still get a subfolder inside that folder named Imported on...... but at least it's in the folder with my chosen name.

Have you tried resetting your iPad?
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
No data will be lost.

There is no chance at all that you can activate the iPad without the previous user's Apple ID and password. That is the feature of iOS 7 Activation Lock.
Every time I read one of these post, I can't help but think that the user asking about this (in this case - you) was duped into purchasing a stolen device. If the seller was legit, they would have erased the device completely before they sold it.

Presuming you get the chime, most of your Mac hardware is working and has passed the first part of the power-on self-test.
If the screen comes on, basic graphics is working.
The dark gray Apple is not present inside the Mac -- it must be loaded from a boot device. If the dark gray Apple appears, at least one of your boot devices has some capabilities. The flower petal/gear moves while Darwin is initializing and loading. If it stops immediately, something is terribly wrong.
When the screen turns blue, Mac OS X has loaded and your graphics card transitions to Interrupt-driven operation. LoginWindow task draws the login screen, and Mac OS X is ready for login.
What could be the problem depends on where in the process it stops, and whether the power light is blinking.
