I've been noticing I've been seeing a occasional white flash on part of my display.

Hi, I, out-of-hand, attributed this to my Time Capsule finishing its back up. This morning I checked my console and found this message. Never seen this type of message before.
1/22/12 5:48:41.517 AM Firewall: java is listening from ::ffff:0.0.0.0:0 proto=6
Can some tell me what this is and if it's related to that random flash?

I had the same firewall log messages appearing in console. In system.log there were messages about com.facebook.videochat.updater right before the 'java is listening' messages. Seems that other people have found out the same thing:

Removed that updater daemon by running in Terminal:
launchctl remove com.facebook.videochat.<username>.updater
rm ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.facebook.videochat.<username>.plist

I noticed that google was the app that was using it a lot, but after I turned the feature off for google my phone started using the “traffic”, “frequent locations” and “cell network search”. When I turn the feature off for all of those things it’s no longer a problem. So just wondering if anyone else is having this issue or if anyone has a solution?

The "solution" is probably to increase your knowledge. You've done good things. Perhaps this article will educate you a bit more about location services.
Basically, they can be very useful, but can cause a lot of iPhone use. A major example is "Remind me to ... when I leave home."

Benchmarks i have been seeing. Pls read...

I have been reading thru the posts. Alot of people giving 3dmark2001,2003,aquamark scores that semm very low to me.
With my p4 2.8 not overclocked at all and 2-3-3-7-1 ram in dual channel
I score 3dmark2001se 18400-18700
aquamark 3 44000-44800
3dmark2003 6000-6200
What am i missing here ? I am not overclocked with a p4 2.8 .
I am seeing people with amd 1mb 3400 and top noych memory posting scores that a newbie like me would laugh at . Should i send this stuff back or is this possible that such a high end chip and ramm scores alot slower then my mediocre setup.
Pls explain if you can or prove me wrong somehow. In my signature is what i have ordered ands its due to arrive friday. I saw a post saying he scored 8000 in 3dmaark2001 se . I got that score with an old X2 caRD AND I THINK AMD TBIRD 875 OR SOMETHING(BEEN TOO LONG).

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. If you did not do step 4 properly, start all over again.

The SIM card In my iPhone 5 has been giving me occasional messages that there has been a SIM Failure, there is NO SIM, or that there is an INVALID SIM. Until today, I was able to restart it with no problem and the SIM card would start up.

I am traveling in Canada now and it is not convenient to come back to the States just to get a SIM card.

Why can't I see my newsfeed in Flash, please?

I have been trying for a while now to format a newsfeed which
uses ASP as its server-side script. The ASP and AS look as follows.
When I look at my server-side script through a normal browser
it looks OK:
Server-side
script through browser
But when I look at it through Flash, I see nothing:
Newsfeed
through Flash
I would be grateful for any help.

Changing standard behaviour like this, then assuming it's all ok seems quite strange, considering it's a years old feature that every probably uses as a management window...

I bought my 6 plus last night decided to upgrade the IOS 8 like they suggest and now all I see is a white screen with the apple sign in the middle with an occasional flashing red screen. Did my new phone seriously just crash? What do I do now? I left it overnight with the white screen, thinking maybe it'll go away and needs time to upgrade. Woke up this morning, nope still white screen. Very disappointed with Apple. I was so excited to get my phone and can't even use it right now.

First turn the iPhone off and back on and see if it works. If that doesn't work then do a Reset by holding the Sleep / Wake Button (The Power Button) and the Home Button at the same time until the white Apple Logo appears, the release both Buttons and wait until a Full Reset occurs. The iPhone 6 should come back to your Lock-Screen. If that doesn't work then you could connect the iPhone 6 via the Lightning Cable to a Computer with a Current Version of iTunes. Then open iTunes on the Computer and wait until your see a Button that represents your attached iPhone and click on it. This should bring up a Summary Screen on the Computer within iTunes. At that point your can choose Update Software if an Update is available or Restore the iPhone to Factory Settings / New In The Box, or you could try to Restore from your Backup if a current Backup had already been saved from a previous iPhone.
If you don't have a computer with iTunes and you can get the iPhone back on, then go to Settings>General>Software Update and see if the iPhone is still on iOS 8.0 or if it is now on iOS 8.0.2

My iphone 5 stopped working. I only see a thin white line on the screen

My iphone stopped working. I can only see a thing white line on the screen and the screen does not respond at all although turning the phone on vibrate makes it vibrate. The screen has been cracked for some time but has worked fine until today.

Were you trying to repair the disk you were booted from? You can't do that - you need to boot from your install disk, and choose 'Disk Utility' from the 'install' menu.

Try deleting Flash cookies.
