I've been trying to contact apple support via email for two days now with no responses from them. What's going on?

For the past two days I've been trying to contact iTunes support via email. I've emailed them in the past and they've always got back to me the same day. Now it's been two days. I'm quite disappointed that I didn't get a response yet. I'm not really sure what to do. I even tried emailing them yesterday as well with still no luck. I really feel neglected as a customer.

You mean other than the fact that it was a weekend? I don't know how much staff Apple has working on weekends, but it's likely to be less than during normal business hours. I'd suggest that you first check any antispam filters that may be in operation on your email account, and if they're not trapping messages from Apple you wait until tomorrow (Tuesday) and if you still haven't received a response try contacting iTunes Support again.

    I tried by phone but the automated voice is broken and extremely frustrating. All i want to do is get another package sent so i can send my ipod off for repair/replace but so far apple have messed up in 4 different ways.
    1 - Not Repairing the ipod in the first place even though they claimed they did
    2 - Putting a sticker over the freepost code making impossible to send via freepost
    3 - Not having an onscreen option to cancel or resend empty package
    4 - Voice "recognising" automated answer machines on the support phone number
    havent got to 5 yet but i predict there will be.

    while device is powered on remove battery > replace after 30 seconds > wait 3-5 minutes for it to reboot
    options > advanced options > host routing table > press the blackberry/ menu key and choose register now

    Apple does not offer custom colors. I'd suggest you get a skin for your iPod. Those are available in hundreds of colors and patterns and since they're not permanent, they don't affect the iPod's warranty and you can change if you ever get tired of the skin you chose.

    Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes (or delete it from your iPod and re-download it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app).

It has been this way for two days, but hasn't really downloaded any of my photos yet. Does it normally take this long? Is there anything I can do to speed it up?

    IF you are getting no messages period - not just no iMessages - then it is very likely a carrier issue. It is AT&T and not the phone. SMS travels via the carrier wave used to make phone calls - iMessages use data and go through Apple servers as you know
    If you are getting no messages at all - then I wonder if your cell service is ok or if you are in an area of strong signal - then does your SIM card need to be looked at

    First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    Try the update again
    Settings > General > Software Update
    The update servers have been very busy so keep trying.
